Broncos make some LAST MINUTE moves...

Big Broncos moves to talk about today. It has been obviously a minute since I have last posted granted Not too much has been going on in the broncos front everyone getting ready for the season But also I would love to say happy nfl start day The opener of the season is upon us and we have a few moves from the broncos to talk about that are worth at least Discussing because uh, they do have impact on the roster some Experiments that have finally come to an end and experiments that are ongoing sometimes There's a bit of a snip snap going on in the safety room. So we'll be talking about that here. Make sure to subscribe Uh, we are I mean, it's literally five days away from the monday night game against the chiefs Cannot wait to see what goes on there. I mean, we're learning that josh simmons Starting left tackle for the chiefs is likely not going to play Uh, so the broncos defensive line is looking to feast in arrowhead, uh, so that'll be really really fun Make sure yeah to just be here for that I will be hoping to uh live stream the game on the channel and uh should be a great time So be here for that. Uh with that being said honestly, let's just jump into the news Again, I apologize for the lack of uh posting but again, not too much has been going on I don't think we've missed uh much labor day weekend All that kind of stuff but now we're here we are at the season and it is time to say Hello to all the news all the things going on right now. So first things first Uh quite the timeline for taylor rapp who has come back um, we actually The first thing I should post here is that the broncos announced that we have signed taylor rapp back to the practice squad There was a bit of a a crazy timeline going on with him Um, rachel vigil said, uh quite the timeline saying august 20th. He was signed for the first time august 26th He was released sean payton saying that he was taking a personal family matter that needed a little bit time at home Uh that that took precedence over being with the team And then september 1st broncos checked in with them again while finalizing their 17-man practice squad He wasn't ready to return yet september 4th Then he worked out with the broncos again, and now he is with the team He has been re-signed to the practice squad. So Uh back with the team there's pictures videos of him um practicing so it's you know been like a two plus week saga of will he won't he I thought it was gonna be a little bit longer than that, but Um, here he is. He is practicing with the team. He's wearing number 30. So the the the The uh picture I have behind me is already, uh out of dates. Let me see if I can get the other one on there There we go. There's the bills one um, so Yeah, but with that being said, um, his experience is absolutely like It's it's great. I mean john heather broncos wire said the 28 year old wrapped one super bowl 56 with the los angeles rams following the 2021 nfl season Uh more recently he played for the buffalo bills from 2023 to 2025 rap has totaled 488 tackles 31 pass breakups and 12 interceptions In 93 career games, which is 72 starts He will now provide additional depth at safety behind brandon jones and talanoa fufanga in 2026 this I mean When we first heard of uh, you know him signing with the team back in august We were like this makes so much sense Then we were all confused at him being cut we're like did something happen Then obviously we found out it was personal issues like we said before I mean, it's but the the experience there means too much and uh, it'd be silly to let go of him Uh scotty pain from mile high report said well rap worked out for the broncos last week And now he is signing or re-signing to the broncos practice squad I would imagine he will need a few weeks to get into shape before being ready to play But he figures to be the broncos plant plant He figures to be in the broncos plans at safety at some point this season for now The broncos will head into the season with jayle skinner devon key and tyson anderson as their depth players behind starters Fufanga and jones when rap is ready I would look for him to be instantly become their top reserve off the bench and likely become their third safety I couldn't agree more I do think that there is a talent gap Obviously between the starters and the bench guys and even between rap and the other guys I mean once rap is up to speed Uh, you know, we should be good to go and hopefully we won't need him Um anytime soon so he has that time to get ready For this season, uh, but also in other news there was another, you know piece of news, uh drew sanders Um, you know, the the linebacker has been waived off the team Uh, honestly, I was kind of looking around I mean I saw the espn notification and it was interesting because It it's it was kind of like shoot aside. I looked for all the other like broncos beat writers who were talking about it very Brief mentions and it's mostly because sanders hasn't done much for the team It's not really it hasn't been uh a great run for him uh, I I hate to say and uh so Gary, tim lynch from mile high reports of the 2023 third round pick by denver could never could string together a run without suffering injury After his rookie season he was injured and unavailable for much of the last three season Seasons and it appears that the broncos are moving on um, and it's it's another thing it's like The broncos they feel like they have good depth right now Uh sanders was on the ir and they waived him off the ir so that they didn't even want to use an ir spot for him because they It seems like the broncos just didn't see a way for him to get back on the team and you know play useful snaps or meaningful snaps, so they'd rather focus their energy on players who are much more likely to contribute to uh, A run for for you know, hopefully a super bowl. I mean, we've got some amazing amazing players. Um, q robinson has been one of the uh, yeah, I mean, uh Stand out from his rookie season last year and he seems to be I mean looking to take a big jump Uh this upcoming season, uh that also goes for a lot of other players like alice He's looking to make a jump. I mean there's oh, it's it's just there's not enough room for sanders and um, again, not to people weren't really talking about him much because uh, they're like It is what it is. He's if you don't play you're not gonna be able to I mean listen I had three years it's three years They gave him a lot of time to try and make up for the lost time and it just didn't work out And you know, that's something you just gotta kind of have to live with and but again You know, I I hope I wish him the best uh when it comes to rap I feel like this is the bigger piece of news just because I mean clearly because he's actually probably going to Uh get a lot of he might he's very likely going to be on the field at some point whether you know We're hoping not because if he's replacing an injured player, but because you know, maybe someone's gas Someone just needs like a quick breather on the sideline. He comes in and gives the broncos defense that extra boost, um and off the bench Um again the practice squad pretty talent heavy if i'm being honest, I mean There's some really great guys on there bandy. Uh, he's had some touchdowns from last year lucas kroll uh red murdoch, um Myles scott the safety for the seventh round safety where we thought it was going to be fighting for you know Uh a 53 man roster spot probably not going to have that especially with rap coming back um, so that's you know, just kind of the reality of the situation for him and I just I you almost have to wonder it's like are we going to Be seeing guys poached from our practice squad because they're so talented I mean obviously i'd hope that's not the case but um It's uh, you you have to worry about it just because of the talent that's there. So Um, I am curious though. What do you guys think about all this news? Do you like that? We brought back rap? Uh, do you think that you're annoyed by the snip snapping of it all drew sanders? Does that news mean anything to you or are you like the broncos beat reporters are just like moving on? um Yeah, gonzo got his big contract from the patriots ps2 is now the ninth highest paid uh Corner in the league, which is just insanity. I I feel like You know, that is probably the biggest steal of a contract right now in the league you could argue um A lot of people underestimating the broncos They're saying that this defense is not going to be nearly as good because we lost john franklin myers and jonathan cooper uh as you know, obviously on the commissioner's exempt list, so You know, oh like two major contributors not playing and then again We've got a lot of depth in the defensive line with anyetam dj jones Roach, I mean I could go on q. Robinson's ready to step up. Ellis is ready to step up a lot of guys I just i'm not i'm not as scared as other people making it out to be I can't wait to see this defense play. But uh, what do you guys think about this defense? Where are your expectations for broncos defense in 2026?
