Two Russian soldiers who decided to surrender to Ukrainian defenders from the Spartan Brigade also brought with them a Cuban citizen.

This was reported by the 3rd Operational Task Brigade "Spartan" named after Colonel Petru Bolbocean of the National Guard. In a released video, a Cuban named Michael said he came to Moscow to work and send money back to his home country, where he has five children. He said he worked illegally, was paid little or nothing, and was deceived.

According to him, he then agreed to a friend's offer to join the Russian army, but not to fight against Ukraine, but to work in a military unit. "My friend didn't tell me it was about fighting in the war, but rather that it was work in a military unit. But they tricked me, took my phone, and I haven't spoken to my family for two and a half months," the Cuban admitted, adding that he was thus tricked into going to the front lines. The Cuban said that three days after signing the contract, he was sent off to war, after having his phone and bank card, which had received 400,000 rubles, confiscated.

He added that he was sent to war along with one fellow countryman and three Colombian citizens, but they had already died.

He also said that on his very first day at the front, he received a shrapnel wound to the face as a result of a mine explosion, and when he contacted his commander on the radio, the commander advised him to look for food and water himself.

Michael complained that he treated his wounds himself, hid for 10 days without food or water, and no one contacted him by radio.

"We were sent there to be killed," the Cuban concluded.

Michael noted that when he was able to move, he found a backpack with food and then met Russian soldiers who decided to surrender to Ukrainian captivity and took the Cuban with them.

As a result, the Cuban called on foreigners who wanted to participate in the war on the side of the Russian Federation not to do so.

Petro Yatsenko, press secretary of the Ukrainian Coordination Center for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, reported that militants of 48 nationalities who fought on the Russian side are currently in Ukrainian captivity . According to him, the majority of them are citizens of Central Asian countries.
