Germany to deploy remaining soldiers to Lithuania after volunteer shortfall

The German military is implementing compulsory assignments to fill personnel gaps in the brigade stationed in Lithuania. While 80% of positions are filled by volunteers, up to 1,000 Bundeswehr personnel may be ordered to serve starting in late September to address shortages in specialist and support roles.
