2 New Sheep Join the Rescue Farm… But We Also Said Goodbye To Tinkerbell

New animals have arrived at The 10 Acre Woods, but this week also brought a difficult goodbye.

On this chilly September morning, we're getting the farm ready for another Manitoba winter while introducing you to two new sheep, Holly and Noel, who have joined our rescue family.

Sadly, we also said goodbye to Tinkerbell, one of our sheep who passed peacefully in her sleep after around 10–11 years with us. She had been slowing down and struggling with her weight, but she kept going right to the end. We will miss her. ❤️

We also check in on our 37 ducklings, see how the three Muscovy moms are doing, and talk about preparing the animals for the brutally cold Manitoba winter ahead.

And there's more! We introduce two young quail, talk about their surprising eggs, check in with the goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and other residents, and find out why a couple of our roosters have moved to another farm.

With temperatures eventually reaching -40°C (-40°F) here in Manitoba, getting everyone ready for winter is a big part of life at the rescue. We show how we prepare the animal shelters to help keep the wind and snow out without heating the buildings.
