The design focuses on \"livable luxury,\" blending the home's 1924 historical charm with modern, functional elements tailored to the needs of a professional athlete and his family.
Hi, I'm Taylor. I'm Tiffany. We're the co-owners of Elliott Tate Design.
Welcome to our project in Roanoke, Virginia. This is a project that we did for the Teller family.
Why a place for the Houston Texans, but this is their off-season home? This house has a ton
of charm and character, and we had so much fun working on it. We cannot wait to show it to you.
Come on inside. The house was built in 1924, and one of our objectives was to preserve as much of
the history of the home as we could. Here in the entry, you're greeted by this beautiful,
iconic wallpaper. This wallpaper is actually in the White House. It was put there by Jackie
Kennedy in 1961. The color that we used on the walls was pulled from the wallpaper,
as well as the elements that you see with different colors also were inspired by the
wallpaper. What we love about this house is how this grand foyer invites you in and takes you
right into the dining room. Our design aesthetic is rooted in livable luxury, and what that means
is we love traditional millwork. We also love mixing old and new and bringing in pops of color.
And a touch of glam. Just a touch. And you can see examples of this in this dining room here,
especially with this paint color. It's called Dead Salmon, and it's kind of like a pink taupe.
It's a little unexpected. So this house is very large. The rooms are very big, and it's also for
a very big football player in Wyatt Tele. So not only is this table very large, it was 16 feet
custom-made for this space. You see that we have these very large end chairs. Because when you're
dealing with professional athletes, you always have to think about weight capacity and sizes.
We love this table. It did give us a bit of a headache when we had to get it loaded in. It was
custom-made in Georgia, and it took seven guys to get it in the front door. Probably because it
weighs over a thousand pounds, but it's made of bleached white oak, and we love it. We love
the contrast that it added to the space. It's really important to us in all of our projects
that we incorporate family photos, because this is the hallway, and it's a communal area
in between their family room and their kitchen. You'll see Gigi and Brooks over here. So this is
the kid wall. And then over here, you'll see pictures of Wyatt and Carly on the field,
and also with the babies. And speaking of the family, here they are.
How are you loving the house? Oh my gosh, it's literally our dream. I didn't know I'd love pink
salmon. Dead salmon. See, he likes the pink so much. Dead salmon. Dead salmon. Like people still
walk in and get the wow factor. Like, oh my gosh, this house is stunning. And I can plop down on a
couch and not break it. I love the chandelier in this space. The drama and the size is so fantastic.
When you walk into the family room from the hallway, we want your eye to be drawn up into
this beautiful bay window. And even in the locker room, people are like, geez, that's insane. It's
like, well, here's the business card. You can have this too. Thanks, guys. Welcome to Brooks's room.
We designed this room for a little boy who loves football. So we put these bean bags in front of
the bed, obviously, because we needed to have more football-themed things in here. And Carly loved
them so much, she actually bought them for their suite in Cleveland for football season. I think
they're probably pretty comfy. This is Brooks's first big boy bed, so it was super fun to design.
And we chose a green boucle headboard because we knew we were going to put this football sign
over it. It's super cool. The wallpaper is Schumacher, and it added the touch of pattern
we needed for the space. And we actually found this piece at an antique mall in Roanoke. And
when we were looking for it, we wanted it with orange tones because we wanted it to complement
the blue of the wallpaper. Now let's go check out their daughter Gigi's room.
Welcome to Gigi's room. She is the princess of the family, and so we wanted to create a room that
felt as equally special as she is. We put these big bow curtains up here, and it became the focal
point because we wanted your eye to come straight to these curtains and then to the crib and this
beautiful bay window. We did hand-sew these curtains the week of install, so they are fully
custom and made with love. We love that this room greets you with two dramatic arches. It really
speaks to the architecture of the home and it being an old home. And it just feels like a warm hug.
We had so much fun on this project. We love this house, and we love this family. And we
really feel like we nailed the livable luxury aspect of it. We created spaces that are not
only beautiful but functional for how this family lives. Thank you for coming on this tour with us,
and we'll catch you on the next one. Can't get enough of these breathtaking homes?
