Is the 2027 Nissan Kicks SR Premium really worth nearly $40,000? 🤔
The Kicks has come a long way, and this top-of-the-line SR Premium is packed with features you might not expect from a subcompact SUV — including Intelligent AWD, a panoramic moonroof, 12.3-inch displays, Bose premium audio with headrest speakers, ProPILOT Assist, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, and more.
But with the price getting close to $40K, the big question is:

The 2027 Nissan Kicks SR is a feature-rich subcompact SUV blending sporty design with advanced technology. While it offers premium amenities like a panoramic roof and Bose audio, its high price point—nearly $40,000 CAD—raises questions about its value compared to larger alternatives like the Nissan Rogue.
This is the 2027 Nissan Kicks SR,
and honestly, Nissan has made the 2027 Kicks
look a little too good.
With a full panoramic moonroof, 19-inch wheels,
built-in Bose audio speakers in the headrest,
and a 12.3-inch screen, there's a lot to love here,
but here's the problem.
With a Canadian MSRP of $38,816,
and an American USD of $29,395,
you're certainly spending some serious money.
So should you go up to this SR,
or should you choose one of the lower Nissan Kicks trims,
or should you choose a different SUV altogether?
Let's unlock it and find out
if it's worth that $40,000 price tag.
My name is Christopher, and this is Cars Unlocked.
Now, if you're new to the channel,
make sure you guys hit that like button and subscribe.
We're always showing you content like this,
but let's check out the 2027 Nissan Kicks.
Now, for 2027, they really haven't changed this SR package.
It's relatively the same as the 2026.
As we know, it was freshly updated in 2025.
Now, coming new to Canada is the Rock Creek
that we are gonna unlock for you.
Let's talk about the front end of the Nissan Kicks.
This one being the SR, it's the top package.
You get quite a few different things.
You notice right away, it is an SR
with this SR badging right on the front.
We have full LED headlights,
Nissan's automatic high beam assistant.
They are automatic headlights.
And we have the forward-facing camera right under the mirror.
You also have front sensors as well.
That's gonna assist with your Nissan safety shield.
Checking out the side profile of the Kicks,
this one being the SR, you do get these upgraded
19-inch machine-finished aluminum alloy wheels.
So all the other Kicks are gonna come with 17-inch rims.
It is front-ventilated disc brakes,
and then you have your rear disc brakes in the back.
The Nissan Kicks does have a nice, sporty design here.
You can see we have our blacked-out mirrors.
We have a camera right on the mirror,
LED turning accents as well on the mirror,
which are gonna light up when you use your turn signal.
And I love kinda how sporty this looks.
You do have this kinda floating roof look,
which goes all the way to the back.
Checking out the rear, you have LED taillights as well.
Now, they added this kinda trunk accent
to let the taillights flow all the way to the front.
Obviously, backup camera comes standard on the Kicks,
and we do have rear parking sensors.
This one's gonna be Nissan's Intelligent All-Wheel Drive,
so you do have your all-wheel drive badging.
The best part about this car is the inside.
Let's talk about the key of the Nissan Kicks.
So this one comes with the remote starter,
the lock, the unlock, and the panic button.
So you can use the remote starter.
You just push the lock button twice,
click and hold, and it's going to start the car up.
Now, to enter the car,
it does have the button on the door here,
where I can just push the button,
and it's gonna automatically unlock the door.
It also includes the walk-away lock.
So as I walk away from the car with the key,
it is going to lock as well.
So this is where you can see that money
that you're spending really shine here, guys.
This one comes with this premium leather seats.
You do have the cloth inserts,
really adds to the sporty look of the Kicks.
Now, it is a manual adjustable seat,
so it's a six-way manual adjustable seat.
One of my beefs with this car,
I'd like to see a power seat,
especially if you're spending up to $40,000.
One of my favorite things
is this nice, large panoramic roof.
So it goes all the way to the back,
lets a lot of light into the car,
and you can open it up
and get the hair flowing a little bit.
This is me in the back seat.
Now, this Kicks would be perfect for maybe a family of four.
I'd say a family of five,
you would probably wanna explore something a little bigger.
But when I'm in the back, I got quite a bit of room.
There's two USBs to charge.
We have matte pockets.
If we unbuckle here,
we do have cup holders in the center armrest
and cup holders in each door.
Checking out the cargo area,
we have 23.9 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
So it does have quite a big trunk.
This you can remove.
This is just our privacy cover.
And then we have a little hidden storage underneath.
There is no spare tire in the Nissan Kicks.
So if you do like a spare tire,
you would have to buy that separately.
If you do the Ikea thing,
or you got hockey sticks, as we say in Canada here.
Hockey stick?
The seats do fold down
and there you have quite a bit of room for extra cargo.
Now our Cars Unlocked dead body test.
I'm thinking two dead bodies,
maybe three if you fold the seats down.
Comment what you guys think.
How many dead bodies could you fit
in the trunk of the Kicks?
All right, so let's start it up
and look at the driver's cabin.
There's so much going on here, guys.
Right away, everybody's eyes gravitate
to these two 12-inch infotainment screens.
We have one 12.3-inch screen for our infotainment
and we have this 12.3 for our digital gauge cluster.
You can kinda adjust this to however you want to show it.
Lots of different menus that you can display here.
It does come with a leather-wrapped steering wheel
with the orange stitching on the wheel.
Nissan ProPILOT Assist is a big benefit
when you're on the highway.
And then flowing through to the touchscreen here,
there's so many things you can do.
Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto as well.
You can do things like heated seats
right on the screen here.
If we click our climate control button,
heated seats, heated steering wheel,
and then there's a ton of apps you can use.
It does come with the SiriusXM radio.
Let's get some music on here for you guys.
There you go.
So if you're a music enthusiast, this is the car for you.
It does come with Bose audio speakers,
the ultra-near-field audio speakers right in the headrest.
So it does sound like you are listening
from your headphones using these speakers.
And you can see, we can adjust it all here
and we can make the music really to our liking.
Continuing down below in the center stack,
we have our heating control buttons.
You have digital temperature control.
You do have a wireless charger here.
So I can just set my phone in there
and it's going to charge my phone.
You can see how it's lit up there.
We have a nice big cup holder here for two cup holders.
And we have just a little center armrest in there.
Not as much storage space as I would like
in the driver's cabin.
We have a little center console
and some sunglasses up here.
So this one being the SR,
it also comes with Nissan's around view monitor.
So you can see it as I'm parking.
We do get the bird's eye view
and it really makes it easy to park.
It also has Nissan's emergency brake assist.
So if I'm backing up into this pole here,
it's pretty much going to stop for me.
You can hear it beeping and there it goes.
Now I can't brake anymore.
See how it shows those red lines?
I don't even have my foot on the brake
and it's not even moving because the pole's right there.
So really nice safety feature,
really helps if you have a tight garage
or anything like that.
I can also press the camera button
and I can change my view.
This is great for parallel parking
and that's just a nice wide angle.
And then we're back.
Now it also has a front.
If I put it in drive, I can see my front view as well.
So if anybody hits anything in this car,
you gotta go back and get your driving test.
You need to go renew your license.
So I have driven the Kicks quite a lot.
I did drive it for about six months.
Me and my wife drove it a handful of times.
It's a two liter, four cylinder engine.
It's gonna come with 141 horsepower
and 140 pounds feet of torque.
So it does have quite a bit of pep.
I've never had trouble passing.
You can use the sport mode as well.
There's a few different drive modes.
If I use the selector down here,
I can drive standard mode, eco mode,
snow mode, and sport mode.
Now, if you are in a snowy environment,
you can check out our test drive of the Kicks in the snow.
We took this thing through the ringer in the snow.
We'll link it in the description as well.
You can hear a little bit of road noise as we drive.
It's not as quiet as something like the Nissan Rogue
or the Nissan Murano.
And you don't have as much kind of cabin space
as you're driving.
I feel as though my knees are kind of hitting the door
and hitting the center console as I spread out my knees.
So long drives, that could potentially become an issue.
The benefit of this car is it's great in the city,
it's great on the highway, and it's great on gas.
7.8 liters per every 100 kilometers combined,
or that's about 28 MPG for all our American viewers.
So very good gas mileage for the size.
We're gonna do a little bit of a launch here.
They advertise this all-wheel drive model
goes from zero to 60 in about 10 to 10.2 seconds.
So let's test that out.
We're in sport mode on three.
One, two, three.
One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi,
four Mississippi, five Mississippi, six Mississippi,
seven Mississippi, eight Mississippi, nine Mississippi,
and that's 100.
So that was just shy of 10 Mississippis.
So a very slow acceleration.
You guys gotta remember, this car has a CVT transmission,
so it's not gonna launch out of the gate like it would
if it was like a turbocharged car or anything like that.
It's a gradual acceleration.
You kind of need to ease into the acceleration,
and a lot of consumers are surprised by that.
If you're not like racing or you're not a heavy foot person,
like this car is perfect.
I've never had an issue kind of passing people
on the highway.
A few kind of beefs that I would have with it,
the rear windshield is rather small.
Sometimes looking out this rear view mirror,
especially if you have three people in the backseat
or the headrest up, it does affect the visibility,
but that's why you have kind of your side mirrors.
Let's try out the ProPILOT Assist.
So I'm just gonna activate it and lock it in the lane.
So now it's locked in the lane here,
and you can see it's set at 80 kilometers per hour,
and I can really drive hands-free.
It's gonna notify me.
See, now it's notifying me just to put my hands
on the wheel, but typically on long drives,
I'll just lock it in ProPILOT,
and I'll just kind of keep my hands like this.
I have full confidence that it's gonna stay in the lane.
It will even take a few turns for you.
So this car really has a ton of features that you get.
You can see it is very responsive as you're going,
and you do have Nissan's full safety suite.
So that's one beauty thing about Nissan
is all the safety features come in all the packages.
So the base package to this top package,
it comes with features like automatic high beam assistant,
you have your blind spot monitor,
you have your lane intervention,
you have your forward emergency brake,
and your rear emergency brake.
So it will notify you on the mirror here
that someone's in your blind spot.
And if you go to change lanes,
it's gonna beep at you to just say,
hey, someone's in your blind spot, don't change lanes.
But overall, this is great family of one, two, three,
or four, I would say this would be a great purchase.
If you're just a safe driver,
it's gonna do exactly what you want to do.
Here I can see someone's in my blind spot, it's lit up.
And then see, now I go to change lanes, it's beeping at me.
It also has the lane intervention.
So if I deviate out of this lane,
the wheel kind of vibrates a little bit,
almost like an Xbox controller.
And it will tell you that someone is,
you're deviating from the lane.
Very safe, very easy to drive,
tons of fun features in this,
but is it worth $38,000?
I'm not sure if I'd go Kicks for $38,000.
I would probably look at like a Rogue,
like an SV Premium Rogue,
instead of spending this money on the Kicks.
So there you have it guys,
a quick run through of the 2027 Nissan Kicks.
Stay tuned because we are going to be unlocking
the new Rock Creek package.
Now I wanna know in the comments from you,
is this car worth 40 grand?
Is there other SUVs that you are considering?
In Canadian world, $40,000 is a lot of money.
