German Luftwaffe Flak Unit Across Europe (1941) – From Flanders to Bulgaria & Greece
This exclusive footage follows a German Luftwaffe Flak unit travelling from Flanders towards the Balkans in 1941. Evidence suggests it may follow I./Flak-Regiment 6, which served under Flak-Regiment 201 alongside I./Flak-Regiment 19. An intertitle identifies a football match as "I/6 : I/19 – Hamburg gegen Kitzingen", although the cameraman's unit is unconfirmed.
The train journey crosses Central Europe via Brno and the Carpathians. Rare colour scenes show the Crișul valley, Constanța on the Black Sea and a Luftwaffe band at Silistra.
In Sofia, the battery receives a public welcome; an intertitle states that King Boris III was recognized among the spectators. The film continues with Flak positions near Sofia and Belitsa, aircraft-recognition training and village life.
The final scenes move towards Kulata and the Greek border, showing equipment maintenance, camp life and food preparation before ending around a campfire.
