Colin Firth’s Mark Darcy carried his quiet romantic charm into Love Actually, while Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver became another unforgettable part of British screen romance.

Gemma Jones and Jim Broadbent later entered the Harry Potter universe as Madam Pomfrey and Horace Slughorn. Shirley Henderson became instantly recognisable to a new generation as Moaning Myrtle.
