A travel journey through France, focusing on the trip from the rainy central regions to the sunny, scenic vineyards of Bordeaux. The narrator explores the architectural beauty of the countryside, stays at a boutique chateau, and visits the historic, UNESCO-listed village of Saint-Emilion, highlighting the region's world-famous wine culture and rich religious history.
The best wines in the world.
One of the most scenic places in France.
Welcome to the Bordeaux region.
Visit the historical town, Saint-Emilion, with me.
Ride through fascinating vineyards
and get charmed by France's fairytale beauty,
La Vie et Belle.
When in France, have some croissants.
Starting our day the French way,
we took off in better weather than on our arrival.
Good morning, everyone.
Yesterday ended with this terrible rain,
and today the weather at least looks a bit better.
Let's hope it's gonna stay like this.
Our goal for this day was to head west,
always direction to the famous vine region, Bordeaux.
On our way, we enjoyed a beautiful ride
through the Livredois-Fauré Regional Park,
rode over the mountain pass, Colle de la Loge,
and enjoyed the beautiful views on the countryside.
I really don't want to jinx it,
and it's actually quite beautiful here
with this fog and these small roads,
but I think it might start to rain again soon.
Temperature, meanwhile, dropped again to 12 degrees,
which is super cold for August.
And yeah, I just feel the rain is coming.
Of course, I wish that my visionary mind
would have been wrong this time,
but right after the cute town Augerolles,
it really started to rain again.
And if it rains, it pours.
Not nice at all.
Not nice.
Rain again.
So my travel partner has one big skill.
To be honest, that's the only reason why I travel with him,
and that's looking at the weather forecast.
Actually, it's not really his skill,
but he has a very good weather app with a weather radar
that told us that these clouds will be hanging here
in the area more or less the whole day.
So we decided that we will travel west now
as fast as possible to escape the rain.
From Livradois-Faurie Regional Park,
we rode to Parc Naturel Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne,
with 3,897 square kilometers,
one of France's largest regional natural parks.
Near the Puy-de-Saint-Cyr volcano,
the mountain village Le Mont-d'Or
is a real paradise for hikers during summertime,
skiers in the wintertime,
and it is also a famous thermal resort.
It luckily stopped raining now,
but we decided to get back on bigger roads
to cover some distance
to really escape the not-so-good weather
in this part of France
and hopefully make it to the more sunny Bordeaux area today.
After a day of rain,
my fingers look like this from the gloves.
Very nice.
And lunch is this here today.
No romantic restaurant
because we're all wet
and just want to get something to eat.
Welcome to the Bordeaux region.
We just drove on the autobahn for a few hours
and now it's afternoon
and we soon will look for a place to stay.
France is so pretty.
Do you see all these nice houses here?
There is this certain style of architecture
that you find here in the area
and all new buildings are built
according to some regulated laws.
That's why all houses here look so pretty
because they need to be built them in a certain way.
So no, it's not just movies
that show that France looks like this.
France really looks like this in reality.
Here the famous vineyards start
and what do you guys think?
I would really prefer to stay in a vineyard tonight
or in a chateau in a castle.
Or best case in both combined,
let's see if my princess dreams can become reality
and what we can find
because everything is quite booked
because of holiday season here in Europe.
If my travel partner's biggest talent
is reading the weather radar,
mine is navigating and finding little gems
where you literally can live the best life.
The boutique hotel Chateau de Palanque
is actually not a real historic castle
but definitely like a place out of a French movie.
It's surrounded by 12 hectares of vines,
has the most dreamy gardens to have dinner or breakfast in
with many ingredients from their own vegetable garden.
And Chateau de Palanque has a stunning 360-degree panorama
on the famous Saint-Emilion and Castillon vineyards.
Oh no, there's a lost drone.
You think it's okay?
I think so.
Good morning from beautiful Bordeaux area.
We just recovered the drone that I flew into a bush.
But look at this beautiful morning.
After rescuing the drone,
we had really earned our breakfast in paradise.
When in France, this is what you do.
Or, in my opinion, maybe even better,
this here.
Chocolat.
Not bad.
And guys, don't you worry.
It was a pleasure to suffer
through all the horrible French breakfast options.
Of course, I did this just for you and for the channel.
Good morning from the Bordeaux wine region.
We are heading now to one of the most famous places
here in Bordeaux when it comes to wine
and, I guess, as well to sightseeing.
So, stay tuned.
We are heading to the village Saint-Emilion now,
which is one of the most famous
and, as well, supposed to be one of the most scenic places
here in the whole Bordeaux region.
But first, we will take a few detours.
I want to see a bit more of all the vineyards here.
Saint-Emilion plays an important role
in the history of Bordeaux and the region.
The history of wine in Saint-Emilion
can be traced to the third century B.C.,
when the Romans planted the first vines in the region.
Wine enthusiasts don't need an introduction
to the Bordeaux region of France and Saint-Emilion, though.
The area has long gained a reputation
as one of the greatest vine regions in the whole world.
And most visitors and tourists
come for the beautiful surroundings,
the historical castles and wineries,
and for the fantastic vines itself alike.
The best way to visit the historic chateaus
and vineyards of Saint-Emilion?
Just drive around, stop at the chateaus and wineries,
taste their wines,
and buy some wine directly from where it's made.
But most important, just enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Look over there, I think that's Saint-Emilion.
I'm so curious to visit now.
It already looks pretty cool from a distance.
Saint-Emilion attracts
more than a million tourists every year.
It's one of the most beautiful
and fascinating villages in France,
registered as a UNESCO World Heritage.
The village got its name from a monk named Emilion,
who arrived to the little town in the 8th century
in search of a quiet, simple life.
He lived in a little cave,
receiving the many followers
who traveled all the way to Saint-Emilion
to get his blessing.
In the following decades,
many religious orders moved to Saint-Emilion
and built their churches and convents,
which explains the abundance of religious buildings
in such a small village.
The city became an important landmark
for many of the pilgrims
following the Camino de Santiago pilgrim way to Spain.
The monolithic church
is the most impressive monument of Saint-Emilion.
And yes, it is inspired by the cave
that the monk Emilion lived in.
This was very nice.
What a cute little town.
I really wished we could have stayed here,
but everything was booked.
So if you travel here in the main season,
pre-book your hotels
if you want to stay here in town or in this area.
Yes, it's really so pretty.
I don't even know what else to say.
We are really enjoying the last small roads
here in the Bordeaux area.
And then we're gonna head to Spain today.

and the Engadin Valley in Switzerland
and show you a real winter wonderland.

to celebrate Christmas with gut to go.
