Paris vlog | Cafés, long walks, Montmartre and the Eiffel Tower at night

Paris vlog from a weekend in Paris, exploring the city on foot, visiting the Latin Quarter, the Seine, Notre Dame, the Louvre, Palais Royal, the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and some of my favourite Paris cafés.
If you are planning a weekend in Paris and looking for ideas for what to see, where to walk and how to spend a relaxed day in the city, this video is basically one long Paris walk with food, cafés, beautiful streets and some of the most iconic places in Paris.
I came to Paris from Amsterdam for a few days with a friend. I have been to Paris many times and I absolutely love the city, so this trip was not about trying to visit as many museums and attractions as possible. I wanted to slow down, walk a lot, eat well, look at the architecture and simply enjoy being in Paris.
The day starts with breakfast and then we head into the Latin Quarter. We walk through small streets, pass restaurants and cafés, reach the Seine and continue towards Notre Dame.
I love this part of Paris because you can just keep walking without really needing a plan. Around the Seine there are bookstalls, prints, old books, postcards and little pieces of art for sale, with boats passing constantly along the river.
From there we continue towards the Louvre.
I have actually only been inside the Louvre once, almost twenty years ago, so I keep telling myself I need to go back properly. This time I only walk through the Cour Carrée and the main courtyard with the Louvre Pyramid before heading towards the Tuileries.
Unfortunately, the Tuileries Garden was closed, which completely ruined my plan of sitting on one of those famous green chairs for a while.
So instead we continue towards Palais Royal.
This is where you can see the famous black and white striped columns by French artist Daniel Buren. The installation is called Les Deux Plateaux, although most people know it simply as the Colonnes de Buren.
After more walking through central Paris, we stop for lunch outside at one of those tiny French tables that somehow make everything taste better. Steak tartare, tea and a bit of people watching.
Then we start walking towards the Eiffel Tower.
We cross Champ de Mars, walk along Avenue Silvestre de Sacy and explore the area around the tower from several different viewpoints.
I also made a separate Short about some of my favourite places to see the Eiffel Tower, because there are so many different views depending on which side of the river you are on.
From there we continue along Avenue de New York and walk up towards Trocadéro.
And somewhere during this walk I start thinking again about what it would be like to live in Paris.
I live in Amsterdam now and I love my life there, but travelling always makes me imagine different versions of my life. Paris is definitely one of those cities where I can easily imagine staying longer.
After all that walking, it is finally time for something very Parisian.
We stop at Carette for crêpes and hot chocolate.
Carette is one of the most famous cafés in Paris, especially for hot chocolate, and yes, it is touristy, but I still really enjoy going there.
Later we take the Paris metro to Montmartre.
We walk up towards Sacré Coeur, stop for the panoramic views over Paris and then wander around Montmartre, past artists, little restaurants, cafés and the streets around Place du Tertre.
By the evening we head back towards the Eiffel Tower again.
This time it is dark, the tower is illuminated and eventually starts sparkling. Even after seeing it many times, it is still one of those moments that feels very Paris.
We finish the day with dinner and pasta after spending almost the entire day walking around Paris.
This is not really a strict Paris itinerary or a guide to the best things to do in Paris. It is more a realistic weekend in Paris and the way I personally like to experience the city.
Long walks, cafés, food, architecture, neighbourhoods, museums from the outside, spontaneous stops and seeing where the day takes us.
