Darren from DJB Studios shares a comprehensive haul from a model horse show, featuring a variety of art supplies, Breyer Stablemates, rare vintage models, and customization bodies. The video showcases a mix of trade deals, raffle wins, and strategic purchases.
We're gonna go through all the goodies that I got at the show.
How about that?
Hey everybody!
Welcome to my channel if you're new here.
My name is Darren.
This is DJB Studios and this is going to be the giant haul of my model horse show video.
There is stuff literally everywhere.
So we're gonna try our best here.
So there's a couple of art supply stuff that I got at the actual craft store.
So I got three paintbrushes.
I don't have an art store near me so whenever I go I just stock up on paintbrushes and things.
I got a sketchbook that was like a good deal.
I think both of these were good deals.
But I got two different kinds because I really want to start doing more painting and I don't
have the proper sketchbooks and they're really hard to find online so I just got some while
I was there in person.
And then I also stocked up with some extra Faber-Castell eraser pencils, which is funny
they have like a sticker that says eraser pencil because I wonder if people were buying
them and thinking they were pencil crayons.
And then I did get a wet palette, a new one.
This one is slightly bigger than the one I have because I'm finding that it's just a
little bit too small for my liking.
And they had the actual masters wet palette pads for that so I'm gonna try those and see
how I like them.
And then I also got the large size wet palette sheets because I do have a large size wet
palette for oil painting and I kind of wanted to buy a second one and then I realized I
can just take the glass tray out of the oil one and use it for acrylic if I'm painting
acrylic because I don't use it that often.
So these are just for acrylic if I want to use that.
So now I have lots of traditional painting things.
So these three little stablemates were from the grab bags.
So when I won a champion or reserve, these were the little guys that came with.
So I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with them.
I already have this pinto mare so they'll probably honestly just be customized.
I'm actually excited about the Arabian because I don't have one of those to work on.
Then I'm gonna go into this box.
I traded for this Mustang who I already have.
Mine is kind of flawed so I wanted like a nice crispy clean one so hopefully he's okay
on the other side.
Oh yeah, he's perfect.
The one I have is not show quality so.
And then I also got this black World Equestrian Games one.
So this was all part of like a trade deal that I did and I traded her for some of these
stablemates.
So this one's pretty simple.
She's just solid black but she's kind of cool because she's the World Equestrian Games horse
and I like this mold and I like having the black version of things.
And then I did purchase this one because I thought he was really cute.
I love this mold and he's just a basic solid bay.
Then I did get this Best of Briarfest Stablemate Collection Series 3 and I already have all
of these.
This is the one I wanted and so I did a trade deal to get this one.
And the ones that I don't keep I'm going to give to my mom.
Then we got a bunch of these stablemates.
We won like a bunch of them.
This was from the raffle so it wasn't my ticket.
I never win anything in the raffle.
It was from my mom's ticket so I'm going to open them.
We got the Quarter Horse.
So these were all from last year I guess.
It's a little chestnut Quarter Horse dude.
We got a standing Stock Horse mare.
So we might keep these for painting because my mom is really into painting now.
So she may want to repaint some of these lovely guys.
We got the Missouri Fox Trotter.
I kind of dig this one.
I kind of want to keep this one OF.
He's cute.
The Clydesdale.
Also very cute.
I've kind of liked this one and I was going to buy it at one point and I didn't.
So I might have to keep him too.
And I don't hate this one as well.
I could try and like etch some of these faded socks but I actually really like that one.
Then we all got these bonus Briar Button and a Stable Mate and a Briar Pencil.
And then I won the champion of the medallion division so I got this really really pretty
actually medallion that I believe the name was Rise.
So it's a unicorn.
It's bowing.
It does stand on its own so it is this standing thing.
So I have a lot of stuff in here.
I actually haven't opened this.
Oh look.
My sweater.
So Mariah who showed with me gave me these adorable pony pouches which is so sweet.
Look at her handwriting.
Look at how insanely perfect that is.
So I'm going to have to open these even though I don't want to undo the bow because that's
like so cute.
But she gave me two little Stable Matey ones.
Oh there's two.
I didn't realize there was two.
Oh no it's one big one.
Whoa.
Canadian Moose.
And my sweater.
No actually that's my mom's sweater.
And then this was a trade for something else that I brought to the show.
This is Little Bay Berkey.
I'm so excited about this one.
I've wanted this one.
Little Bay Berkey.
Very hard to find for some reason.
Okay.
So there's a lot of different things in here.
This was a body lot.
So there's a couple of different things.
You can never have too many Idukis bodies.
So an Idukis body.
This one wasn't one that I particularly needed or wanted but it was a really good price so
I bought it and I can decide to keep it or I can decide to customize it.
You can't lose on that for I think it was 20 bucks.
And I believe these guys were like $5 each or they were free.
So another Wyatt.
I started customizing this guy and he was really fun to customize.
I got another one.
This one is another drafter and I'm actually very excited to have this one.
I've been on the fence about this one and I'm glad I could get one for again like 20
bucks.
This was one of the freebie customs.
She sanded the halter down but it's the old quarter horse so I don't have that sculpture
so it could be fun to do a glow up on.
And this guy is the semi-rearing and I had this exact horse in my collection and I basically
gave it away.
I sold it for dirt and I regretted it because I actually have the vintage box and I'd love
to do like a video where I unbox it out of the vintage box and then give it a glow up
and put it back in the vintage box as a glowed up horse.
So like the same color, the same pose, everything.
Just make it look sweet.
So I actually do want to do that at some point.
I think that would be fun.
And there is a random neck and a Brevore 54 ribbon.
This is a body.
I did want a John Henry to attempt customizing on and I also wanted to see what he looked
like because I'm thinking I want the original Seabiscuit for my collection.
Then there's two more in the bottom of this.
Rainbow Arabian mare, rainbow Arabian foal.
Also super cheap, great bodies to have in the body bin.
Although these would be cute in my bathroom upstairs too.
Then I will just go down into this next one.
This is a political Jess and he was only 20 bucks.
So I just decided to get him.
I think he's kind of cute and for 20 bucks, you really can't go wrong.
So just like a basic chestnut, kind of orangey, but the tone of the chestnut itself is actually
not bad.
He's kind of handsome.
Like the shading is kind of nice.
I might hang on to him and then decide to customize later.
So that's a political Jess.
Three of these came from my friend in the US who, who brought them to Canada for me
when she met me at the show.
So that was perfect.
And then this top one was actually from a Canadian collector and it just happens to
arrive today.
So we're going to start with this middle one because it's actually already like kind of
open.
I'm going to try not to knock over my very expensive show string over here.
This one is already opened because she did open it to check that everything was good
and everything is not so good.
So I know that there's some problems here.
So this is Annie Oakley's Prince.
She's a tractor supply company special.
She's super duper cute, but her little bridle fell off and her saddle fell off and she's
in there very precariously.
So we're going to have to help her out here.
So I had no idea that this horse even existed until I was perusing eBay one day.
This is a 2004 catalog.
So I believe she was from that timeframe, 2004-ish.
Like the box is old, but the horse itself looks kind of modern.
Like she's really well painted.
Not sure how I missed this in my searches, but I did.
This has the old vintage ties.
If you are a avid collector, you would know that this is how briars used to be boxed.
You could actually sit here and untwist them if you didn't have wire cutters, but now they
cut off those ties so that you're forced to nip them.
I always nipped them anyways, but that's such a memory.
This is wild actually.
They put a black twist tie on her black leg and white twist ties on her white legs.
The early 2000s of toy manufacturing.
So she is number 183 out of 3,500.
It's not actually a she though.
It is a gelding.
His shading is incredible.
And this paint job is like completely mint.
Like look at the dappling.
What is this horse guys?
It came with this bridle, which I'm very excited about.
I don't actually know anything about Annie Oakley.
I don't know who Annie Oakley is.
Sharpshooter and entertainer.
He comes with this little bridle that clips in.
This reminds me of the toy horses that my mom used to have.
So this horse actually has a hole in its mouth that this bit goes through and then
clips, connects on the other side.
How cool is that?
I love it so much.
It's so cool.
Also fits on if you want it to, but I don't love the plastic saddle.
I find that a little bit tacky in terms of things, but it's very Breyer vintage.
I didn't think I would like that horse as much as I do.
I'm obsessed with the paint job.
Like this is one of the prettiest horses I've gotten in a really long time.
So cool.
Ah, I love it.
So that's horse number one.
Shall we do the next box?
Just go in order.
I'm going to move these out of the way because those other horses are in the way today.
So I don't know who's in what box.
So we're just going to go for it and see what happens.
I cannot get over that.
It's so pretty.
Garbage.
Just throw it on the floor and worry about the repercussions later.
I'm just like shredding this.
It's not opening nicely at all.
Okay, here we go.
Here's the cool dude.
I'm excited about this one.
Fancy.
He's cool.
He's actually very cool.
This is Juan, San Juan, 2026.
This is a collector's club web special.
So he was recently released and I don't have a model on this particular mold and I really
do like the sculpture.
I just haven't loved the colorways that have come out on him so far, but this one was super
pretty.
And so it came up for sale in Canada and I thought I should just go for it.
And I am glad that I did.
He's actually very pretty.
Wow.
We're off to a great start.
So let's keep going.
This person gave a little card, says, thank you, enjoy.
This one I am so excited about.
Okay.
These are all hard to find horses.
Oh yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
A lady face.
Shocking.
I know I've started collecting lady phases and now I cannot stop.
This is another one to add to the stash.
So I have this chestnut one that was from the treasure hunt and I love her, but look
at the difference in the tones.
Two very different horses.
I originally only wanted one of them, but I had to get the second one.
So she is from, I believe it was a JCPenney special, two piece set with the Dunn Adios
Adios.
I've had this guy for a couple of years now.
So they came in a paired set as like a quarter horse set.
I like seeked her out.
This lady was selling her.
She was not very expensive, so I went for it.
It's, it's a lot of these older paint jobs.
They're just really doing it for me.
Some of these newer ones really get me too, but these old paint jobs, I don't know.
There was just an era of briar that just speaks to my soul.
That is one of them.
And the last one is actually another vintage-y kind.
This is like rares and like vintage rares, I guess.
This is interesting.
They put the horse in the middle of two other boxes.
You never know with eBay.
Sometimes they package things in a really peculiar way, and this is no exception.
Wow.
Am I excited?
This is Mammon, a Midst Dates special run from, I believe 2007, and he is on the Fighting
Stallion mold, which is not a sculpture I collect and not a sculpture I enjoy.
But this particular horse is just really well painted.
They just did a nice job on him.
He's just got like this really intricate blanket Appaloosa pattern.
He's a really nicely shaded bay.
What a collection.
What a pairing of four models.
I love this so much.
They are so cool.
Thank you so much for watching and joining me on this little mini unboxing side quest.
