Measles cases rise as CDC lists first measles-related death; Philadelphia doc recalls 1991 outbreak

As measles cases continue to rise nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has, for the first time, listed a measles-related death on its website.

More than 3,400 measles cases have been confirmed across the country, and Pennsylvania has reported 111 new cases in the past week, bringing the state's total to 835 cases so far this year.

For some, the growing outbreak is a reminder of Philadelphia's 1991 measles epidemic, which Dr. Offit described as "a nightmare."
