PC Paul Simmons is in pursuit and he's not easing off.
The driver not interested in stopping.
He mounts the pavement, barely misses members of the public
and takes corners faster than the taxman in a recession.
Suitable vehicle, road conditions are dry, weather's clear, traffic is light.
Subject vehicle is overtaking vehicle 7-0 in a 3-0,
medium risk due to speed and manner of driving.
It's a contravention of a red traffic signal.
Left, left, left, onto, stand by for road name.
Pedestrians scatter, cars swerve, it's chaos on four wheels.
Then bang, driver inevitably clips a car.
Short sharp shock, bonnet crumples, engine smokes.
Cleveland Drive, 6-0 in a 3-0.
Light traffic, no pedestrian traffic.
There is now some pedestrian traffic.
Still light vehicle in the traffic, risk is medium.
Subject is right, right, right, onto North Road.
Go ahead.
Still medium risk, bolt by traffic now.
Pursuit is authorized and tactical phase received.
Right, right, right, Boston Avenue.
Still light traffic, right, pedestrian traffic.
6-0 in a 3-0.
The tactical plan for this will be a sting in a multi-car box.
Stand by for a decamp.
Left, left, into building site.
And I hope, stand by, we've gone through that building site.
And we're now back out onto Baxter Avenue, Baxter Avenue.
Driver is a white male, short dark hair, dark clothing, unknown other occupant.
Stand by.
And it's onto that dual carriageway.
Effectively, it's wrong way on the dual carriageway.
I've gone over the grass first.
Stand by.
It's right, right, towards the shops.
I note, stand by, correction.
8-13, then left, left, left, onto Park Street.
I've lost sight of the subject vehicle.
I'm going to go left, left, back onto Baxter Avenue.
Unit, stand by, Sierra Romeo 2-1-1.
Road conditions are dry, traffic is light.
I'm happy to pursue.
Vehicle is now left, left Chelmsford Avenue.
Speed of 3-5 miles an hour.
We've got a passenger filming us out the window.
Risk is medium.
Stand by for decamp, into a building site.
Whoa, it's done this once already.
Yeah, through the building site, back out onto Boston Avenue.
I'm going to stick with it for the time being, till I'm with you.
Vehicle's going to go right, right, right, right, towards Victoria Avenue.
Might come back towards the stinging in at the wrong way.
Stand by.
It's gone wrong way, wrong way, Vic Avenue.
It's now back on the right way, VG.
It's just, um, onto Melbourne, Melbourne Road.
Now Tunbridge Road, speed of 3-5, 3-5.
Pedestrian traffic is light.
And I've got a TPEC unit behind me.
When I get the first opportunity, I'll come out your way.
Unit, stand by.
Up Chickfield Avenue, speed of 4-0 miles an hour.
Back onto Penhurst Avenue, Penhurst.
Vehicle 4-0, 4-0 miles an hour.
Vehicle, through a red ATS at 4-0, 4-0.
Traffic has already stopped, continues London Road.
Tim, are you ready to take over?
Yes, yes, just give us a bit of room.
4-3, now Pursuit Commander again.
TPEC train marked vehicle, continues West Street.
Subject, balked by traffic.
That's a minor collision.
Remember the public, no other inconvenience caused.
There will be no injuries.
TA, go ahead.
That's subject, left, left, left, Braley Avenue.
There was nearly a collision.
We'll remember the public that did have to move out of the way.
The risk of this pursuit is now higher.
We do need to resolve it.
Can we have tactical options and stingers set up around South End, please?
PC Simmons is on his heels,
determined to ensure this male is jailed for this.
London Road towards the nick, please.
The second, the second, back towards the police station.
It's a last minute left, left, left, Boston Avenue.
Again, we're doing loops.
Standby for a junction.
And our subject is wrong way on Victoria Avenue,
on the carriageway.
I'll shadow on the correct with lights off.
Doors fly open.
Three lads bolt in different directions.
The driver legs it through an alley, thinking he's in the clear.
Advertiser!
No, no, no!
Stand on the floor!
Get on the floor!
Driver was sentenced to 19 months in jail for this highly risky pursuit.
It is unclear whether the passengers or the driver
managed to get rid of something during the lengthy chase.
