Entertainment host turned philanthropist Shawn Robinson today held her third annual She Leads Conference. Wow. Wow. Support for non-profits that are girl-centered. This is a very unique conference. This is the first of its kind conference for women who lead girl-centered non-profits and that has been something in the space that has been missing. The Shawn Foundation for Girls founded by entertainment host Shawn Robinson brought non-profit leaders together for the She Leads Conference. Former Vice President Kamala Harris was VIP speaker and she took aim at the current Trump administration. Even in the tone and the words a violent underpinning to the attacks on the work that is about lifting up community. Lifting up girls, women. Every attack that they are making on DEI has had a direct impact I know on the the federal funding that each of you has received. The 49th VP also reflecting on her own mental well-being after losing the presidential race. I didn't want to see anybody. Like I didn't want to go out. I didn't want to be seen. I wanted so I'd have friends come over. I'd cook. But I didn't I didn't want to go out. I needed to create a safe space for myself. She talked about having a good solid group of girlfriends around her. She talked about just needing to decompress and to just take a minute and that's kind of what we all have to do. I just I'm so full right now from everything that she poured into me. I needed it. As a fellow lawyer what I took away is the rule of law and how important it is that lawyers are out here fighting to protect people's rights. The Shawn Foundation for Girls says only 3% of philanthropy dollars goes to girl-focused organizations. There are a hundred thirty leaders of nonprofits that have come as far as Texas and Detroit and Kansas and Carson, California. We work to keep black mamas and their babies together. It's a wonderful group of women and a very meaningful experience. It helps fill my cup. The Shawn Foundation for Girls has funded about 40 girl-centered nonprofits to the tune of $250,000 over the past 10 years.
