Hey guys, Assalamu Alaikum. I have decided to do a chicken curry to cook with you guys and it's
just going to be a really really basic chicken curry for beginners out there and it's super
simple. This is my recipe and the way I cook it on a daily. These are the ingredients that I'm
going to use. I'm using frozen diced onions, so much easier. I get these from Asda by the way.
I've got frozen ginger and garlic. I've got some cardamom which is Elasi. I've got some
bay leaves, Tesfata. I've got some cinnamon sticks which is Daltini. I've also got some
salt here. I'm using sea salt. I actually prefer using sea salt in my curries. I don't know why.
I think they taste nicer. I've got a little baby chicken here, just the one. I've got some oil
which is sunflower oil and I've got my handi here which is the pot. There's about one cup of oil in
here. I like to use quite a bit to be honest which isn't good. It's not healthy. Next I'm going to
add the diced onions and I'm going to add about two and a half onions in there. I'm going to next
add the garlic and ginger and with the rest of the ingredients which is the Tesfata, Elasi and
Daltini. I'm going to add the salt in now. It's going to be about a tablespoon. What I'm doing
here is caramelizing the onions so they're nice and brown. I'm just going to add some water because
I don't want the onions to burn. I want them to become soft now. I'm just mashing up the onions
with this potato masher. I'm just going to add all the spices onto this place. I've already added
turmeric and cumin. Now I'm going to add some coriander powder. That's about a full of this
which is about four teaspoons I would say or two tablespoons. This is curry powder. I add a bit less
of this. This is chili powder and because this curry is for the kids I'm only going to add a
small amount which is about one teaspoon. I'm also going to add some garam masala but a very small
amount. You don't need a lot of that. Lastly I'm going to add some paprika which is about
this much. There we go. Add some nice color to it. Now what we're going to do is put everything
into the handi and mix it all up. Oh I love it when it transforms the color. I've added a bit
of water because I don't want the spices to burn. The longer you cook it the better the taste
so you want to put the gas down a little bit. Now I'm going to add the frozen peppers. I've
decided to add peppers to it. Sorry I didn't show you guys before but these are ones that
I prepared last week. I just froze them in my fridge. So I put them in and at the same time
I'm going to add my chicken which is all washed and clean. So we are going to add the chicken
mix that in really really well with high gas on and I'm not going to add any water at this stage
guys. So that's mixing really well and I'm going to close it up and put the gas down a little bit
and now it's time to clean up. You just want to make sure you stir the chicken every now and then
mix it all up again so that the spices are going everywhere and that it doesn't burn as well.
Really important that it doesn't burn. I'm gonna put the gas down a bit more. I love tasting my
curries in between just to see if I need to add anything and you know what that came out really
good. I'm gonna add my favorite ingredient which is coriander guys. I love love love coriander
and I love adding a generous amount to my curries. It's my favorite thing ever. Give it a good stir
then we can leave it on low heat cover it up and it will be done. Here's what I do
whilst I'm waiting for the curry to be done. Just go on Instagram and check my polls and have my tea.
Guys I think my chicken curry is done. So simple, so easy. It took less than 20 minutes to do
and look at that. I love the color and the texture and everything about it. I can't wait to dig in.
I'm gonna eat some of my curry guys right now in front of you. Really nice, really tasty. I love it.
