Hi friends, what does the given picture depict? Yes, many-headed Adishesha made himself
Simhasana of Lord Vishnu and Lord Vishnu is sitting on that Simhasana and we can also see
Garuda joining his hands obediently and praying the Lord and he was looking at the Lord and saying
something. When Adishesha becomes Lord's Simhasana as well as his bed, Garuda becomes his vehicle.
How did he become his vehicle? Who was Garuda actually? Let us know everything in detail.
Garuda was none other than eagle itself. Eagle turned to be Garuda vehicle of Lord Vishnu.
It's only because of his strong love towards his mother. We learnt the slogans Matru Devo Bhava,
Pitru Devo Bhava. Once let's go to the history of Garudalwar. Long ago, almost at the time of
creation, there was a Rishi Maharshi named Kashyapa Prajapati. He had two wives, Vinata
and Kadruva. Both of them served Kashyapa Prajapati and he was so much pleased with their services
and he blessed them and fulfilled their desires. When Kadruva asked for thousand children,
Vinata asked for only two children who are very strong. Kadruva gave birth to thousand eggs.
From those thousand eggs came out snakes. On the other hand, Vinata gave birth to two huge eggs
but they did not come to fertility. It took very long time to come to fertility. She couldn't bear,
she became impatient. So, Vinata broke one of the eggs. From that came out, came out a baby
who had no legs. The baby was so annoyed and cursed his mother Vinata. What amma? Why couldn't
you wait till the egg comes to fertility? Because of your impatience, I was born without having legs.
It's only because of you. So, I am going to curse you. Saying so, he cursed his mother. You are
going to be the servant of our stepmother Kadruva. Saying so, he disappeared into the sky and became
the sun god. He repented for cursing his mother and said that she had to be very careful
and she should wait patiently until the second egg is broken on its own when it reaches its
perfection. When the egg reached its fertility, it broke out naturally and came out an eagle
from that egg. The eagle being the son of Vinata was named Vainateya. He was slowly growing up.
He couldn't bear his mother working as a slave at his stepmother named Kadruva.
He on being asked, his mother Vinata narrated everything that had happened. The curse of his
brother. We all know that Kadruva, how she cheated her elder sister named Vinata. Vainateya rushed to
his stepmother Kadruva and asked what she wanted to relieve her mother from this slavery. Then she
asked to get amrit from heaven. Is it easy to go to the heaven and get amrit? But that eagle
Vainateya had taken all the risk to go there and to get amrit. On seeing Garutmanta, I mean
Vainateya taking amrit from the heaven, Indra was so annoyed and threw his Vajrayud at Garutmanta.
Of course, nothing had happened to him. Vainateya could manage and brought that amrit
and gave it to Kadruva. Meanwhile, Indra went to Lord Vishnu and gave complaint about Vainateya,
how he had snatched away that amrit from heaven. Vainateya was ready to take any sort of punishment.
Lord Vishnu understood that Vainateya's intention was to relieve his mother from slavery. His
unconditional love towards his mother made him be the vehicle of Lord Vishnu. Since then,
he had been serving the Lord Vishnu as his vehicle. Not only vehicles, sometimes he becomes
his wooden sandals, sometimes he becomes his fan, thus performs chamaropachara. See friends,
in our philosophy manifested by our great guru, great acharya Ramanujacharya, that is
where we adore every aspect in nature. All trees are worshipped, animals are worshipped,
they perform various duties not only to the Lord but all other gods. We learnt Vinayaka's vehicle
is a small rat. We learnt peacock is the vehicle of Vinayaka's brother Shanmuga. We find Saraswati
Mata sitting on a swan. A tiger, a lion, all are the vehicles of Adi Parashakti. We always see
the Lord holding the flower lotus in his hands. We adore Tulsi as a sacred plant. What not?
Everything in this world is respected, adored, thus proving unity in diversity. Let us try to
lead our lives in harmony with all these living beings created by the Lord. Let us try to preserve
every aspect in this world. Let us come with some other interesting topic in our next video.
