Three times a month, we post a video supported by our patrons and they receive an exclusive mp3 of the track. This is one of those, so if you like this very different and totally improvised version of this classic blues tune, the only way to get a recording is to become a patron. Why not join this precious Inner Circle?

My gig at the Red Lion in Mawdesley was organised last minute by long-standing fan Ian Hewitt, who took over the pub in December. It became a real family affair, with my son Piet joining me on bass in the first set (video coming soon!) and children, inlaws and grandchildren filling half the place! Such a beautiful evening.

Mark Wainwright joined me on stage for the second set. Mark and I go back many years, all the way to my very first UK band ‘Regardless’, with him on guitar and programming. Other bands followed and he always played a crucial role. He is an outstanding all-round musician and he also runs an outstanding studio called Alien Sound.

This improvisation began with a random setting on the Wavedrum, picked by my son Piet.
I love how it developed, totally unplanned. This is the magic of improvisation.
