AI GeneratedAdrian Maroc secures a dramatic victory at the 2026 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at the Old Course in St Andrews. Despite challenging wind conditions and stiff competition from players like Casey Jarvis, Maroc's exceptional putting and mental resilience earned him his fifth DP World Tour title, marking a poignant full-circle moment ten years after turning professional.
The fairway. Some bunkers scattered on this tent pole, but I'm sure he's well short of them.
Well, I don't know. That's a bit loose. That's gone out way too far right.
Bronk sending his into this back. Difficult back pin on tent. Dietrich's on the green,
but nowhere near. So both of them got hard work. We just saw the last group three putt.
I don't see anybody get it all the way back to that flag.
Ideally, a couple of putts will be fine. Move on. Harder battles out here than this hole today.
Yeah, you'd be better to read this putt with the ears than you would your feet.
You would think so, wouldn't you? They tell us not though.
Who are they? I tell you what, that does sound strange, but I've seen David Hill
reading things with his ears. Well done. Pace left edge. Doesn't matter what the yardage is,
about keeping this ball flight down. It must not float to this flag just over the bunker.
It went heart in mouth time for Bronk. Excellent tee shot. Right to left. He's been stretching.
He's been eager to get into this. Just got to keep the pace up up the right.
Gee willikers, it just hit a wall of wind. It's so extreme, David, out here. It's hard
to explain how unusual these conditions are for the players. Stay out of one of those pot bunkers
at 310. Without putting the moccas on it, he does drive the ball well. That's good there.
Yeah, stayed aggressive as well. We've seen some irons off there, Anthony, but that's
nicely positioned. You never quite know whether he's going to run it or not,
but I think he will chop it on top. That's the shot. The wispy stuff. It's a good line.
He often gets a knuckle bounce, though. I didn't see that, Howler. Yeah, he took it low, as you say.
Just just popped it back in his stance. It was quite nifty, wasn't it? Played it well.
Big putt. Gotta believe this is going to go left to right on the wind.
No problem at all. My word, he's putted well out there today, has Adrian Maroc.
And that all of a sudden gives him a two shot advantage at the top.
The mini driver. Gosh, it's a popular club nowadays with the pros.
That was clever. Down the right hand side. Avoided the coffins nicely. Oh, that's a cracker.
I thought he'd taken too long. He just didn't seem certain. But that's a superb shot.
To open up a three shot lead. As I said, it's a little bit uphill and it's kind of
hidden as well. So that's the first real tentative stroke that he's really put on
it when he's had a chance to roll one in. Maybe just starting to feel it a little bit.
Not surprising. He had a par five next up for Maroc.
Took it out over the wall.
Looks like an OK lie, but. He's driving very much a feature of his four victories to date
on the DP World Tour. Well, you never quite know what it takes to win a championship.
Just a little break like that might be enough. Genius. Perfect strike. Crisply struck. That's
brilliant. Rock solid with the flat stick today. Got one hand on it now. Jarvis absolutely has to
make nothing worse than a four coming behind at 14th.
15th tee. Alida Maroc. Not really any danger down 15th. If anything,
you had a slack one down the right. But again, some quins used to come into play quite a bit.
Looks like he may have made it to the foot of that upslope, which just increases the degree
of difficulty with the approach. A ball that listens. It's a rare thing.
Yeah, we could sell those for a few in the local pro shop, couldn't you?
Funny one that the extra breathing space he was hoping for has not arrived.
The gap is three and he's firmly in control.
He committed swing from the rock. Absolutely no trouble there.
It's fine now. Just claim is over the top of that bunker just short of the green.
Meandering across into the middle of the middle of the second green. Be forgiven,
leaving this three feet short here. It's another excellent putt from Maroc.
Tone in sight. Silverware in sight. No margin for error.
Flora's back with us. He's been impressive, Flora. No doubt about it.
Yeah, unflappable it would seem as putters helped him out. Sometimes when you're just
feeling it a bit, you can hold a putt at the right time, which he did today a couple of times.
Absolutely perfect. Might not be in the fairway, but that's a beautiful swing under pressure.
Dangerous shot safely navigated by our leader.
He's got off that path, which is good.
Looks like a half decent line. He's got green to work with, but the pressure is now ramped up on
He doesn't know how far that's gone, Laura, by his reaction.
Oh, we've just seen the line a bit closer. It looks a bit thin. That could be difficult.
That was a great shot. That was a really good shot. A lot could have gone wrong with that.
A lot could have gone wrong with that. Yeah, he took double out of play,
didn't he? Because if he duffs it and he gets the same shot again, there's no guarantees.
That changes things. Indeed, second bogey of the day.
Maronk pegged back to 20 under, one ahead now of Casey Jarvis.
Magnificently all week, and that's another one. Come on, up you come.
Won't quite, will it quite? No, it won't. That's a, that's awkward. That's a crossy angle.
It's such a shame. Fine lines. Unlucky. It was a soft first bounce.
Are we trying to get some answers as to what's happened behind? Otherwise,
that's going to be a very smelly putt. He's left himself.
All right, the last 68. There'll be two eagles on it today. Just five in the week.
Didn't get the hard bounce. He's going to have to do it from the valley.
Constantino Rocca. He was a little further left, old Conti. He was a little further left,
wasn't he? But we're just planting the seed, Andrew. That was, it was Rocca's third shot,
wasn't it? Yeah, that was, yeah, a little different, but still hold it. Never had it high enough.
And that's it. Adrian Maronk has scored himself a tremendous victory here over the old course
at St Andrews. Look at the relief on his face. It is huge. It's his fifth DP World Tour title,
but by far and away, you would say the most important. He is the 2026 Alfred Dunhill Links
Champion. Adrian, 10 years ago, you began your professional career right here at the Alfred
Dunhill Links Championship. Now you stand here as the winner. How special is this full circle
moment for you? It's unreal, to be honest. As I told you before, I never usually cry, but this one
feels really special. I'm sorry, I'm just lost for words. It's been quite a tough year for me,
and to win here after 10 years, after turning pro, it's a dream come true, and it's unbelievable.
Sorry, I'm just lost for words, but I'm extremely happy and very relieved.
You started the day two shots back. How proud are you of the way you handled yourself out there
today in really tough conditions to ultimately get it across the line against some stiff
competition? Yeah, I knew it was going to be a tough day. We knew the forecast was going to be
quite windy. I kind of set up myself mentally yesterday with my psychologist for the day. I
had a number in my head, what I have to shoot, and to be honest, I was quite close to that number,
but yeah, I'm just super happy. I played really solid golf. We did a great job with my carry
steward, and it was quite stressful at times, but it was a lot of fun. Also playing with my partner
Tom, he was amazing all week, and we had a lot of fun. There are few venues in golf that come with
as much history as this one, the Old Course in St. Andrews, who are standing in the heart,
the home of the game. Many players dream of adding a win here to their CV. We saw you walking down
18, looking up for just a moment. Were you able to absorb what was going on? How were you feeling,
and how special? What does it mean to you to win right here?
Yeah, after my drive on 18, I was quite happy with the position I was in, and I was just trying
to enjoy the walk. It's an amazing walk when you cross the bridge. You look around the people,
the history. Actually, when I was crossing the bridge, I talked to myself. I was actually
thinking about Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus walking on the bridge, and I was kind of asking
for that good momentum, good energy from them. It was just a great feeling, yeah. I really enjoyed
that walk. You spoke earlier in the week about wanting to play as much as possible for the
remainder of the year on the DP World Tour. Just a word, if you will, on what this victory does
for the next chapter of your career now. Yeah, definitely. The goal for the rest of the season
was to try to get my status for next year, and that helps me a lot. I'm super happy that I
achieved that goal, but definitely, I will have to re-evaluate my goals for the rest of the season
and see what happens. I'll do that for tomorrow and see what happens. I'm super happy and super
grateful to be in that position. Just finally, with your partner, it's such a special week.
It's been so much fun for everyone involved. Will there be a party tonight?
I'm not sure. We haven't talked about it, to be honest. We'll find out, I guess. I'll have to ask
Tom and see what happens. As I said, it was so much fun. He played great golf as well. We did a
great job as a team. Yeah, you certainly did. Whenever I struggled, he got my back and the
other way as well. It was so much fun, and I'm super happy for him as well. Many, many congratulations
to our Alfred Dunhill Link Champion for 2026. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Thank you.
