A Hazlitt homeowner says that he's fed up with teenagers using newly built homes in
his neighborhood to host massive parties.
He says there have been several parties over the last few months.
The most recent was Saturday, with dozens of people seen walking by his home.
You see him there, all to attend the party.
Fox 4's Peyton Yeager spoke to the mayor about the city's response.
Peyton.
Heather, yeah, complaints coming from a Hazlitt neighborhood.
Hazlitt's mayor tells me the on again, off again, a vacant house party concern that's
been on his radar for the past five months.
And now, after this past weekend, he's prepared to have another conversation with the Tarrant
County Sheriff's Office to stop the crowds immediately.
In Hazlitt's fairly new sweetgrass subdivision, homes are at different stages.
For sale signs, to current construction, to families already nestled in the growing neighborhood
near 35 W and Hazlitt Parkway.
It was reported over 100 kids.
They assemble in these homes that are under construction or nearly complete.
Saturday night, a large party in an empty two story house.
Teenagers seen on ring camera coming and going late Saturday night across this family's yard.
Hazlitt Mayor Gary Holsey says there have been about a half a dozen parties in sweetgrass
vacant homes since the summer.
The last one, maybe two months ago, resulted in several felony arrest.
The city of Hazlitt contracts out with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office for law enforcement.
The mayor says deputies upped patrols over the last few months.
The problem curbed temporarily.
And then it subsided.
There was not an issue until this last weekend.
It's obviously kids having fun but taking it too far.
A homeowner who asked we do not use his name or show his face sent us this video after
the Saturday party was busted.
A teenager banging on his garage and then taking off.
His face blurred since he's a minor.
Tarrant County Sheriff's Office determined no criminal offense occurred.
The Sheriff's Office also tells Fox 4 no one was arrested Saturday evening once the
teens scattered.
But the case is still open as the builder surveyed Monday for any damage.
The cars traveling 70 miles an hour down this residential street.
With more homes popping up every week in a community this homeowner just joined in June.
It definitely makes you second guess your decisions.
Everybody steps up and starts curbing this.
And while we were out in the neighborhood today we did see the Perry Homes project manager
of that subdivision and has lit a surveying that specific home.
We asked him straight up how are teens getting access to these vacant homes and what's being
done.
He said no comment and to reach out to corporate.
So we did.
No response there yet.
We also reached out to the Homeowners Association.
No response yet.
But I'm told there's a meeting on Wednesday.
