November 11th of 2020.
We're in the middle of a worldwide pandemic,
but for 2020 it was like any ordinary day.
People were on I-35 in Dallas going about their day.
It's about noon and Melvin Noble is heading northbound.
He just left a woman's house who he'd been seeing.
Now Melvin Noble was just like us, a citizen
of Dallas County, a father and a son. But he was also
something else he was not only a locally known
but a nationally and internationally known rapper
and what you're going to hear is about November 11
and as he drove up that highway how a masked man
with an AK-47 style pistol popped out of a Camaro
while traffic is going on I-35 just coming up to
the Dallas Zoo and let off over 40 rounds from that AK pistol
while chasing Melvin Noble down
ultimately killing him on that freeway
the masked man gets in the car takes off and from there
you're going to hear from witnesses that are going
to come up here and tell you about the
investigation who witnessed the murder you're going
to see videos of the offense you're going
to see surveillance videos of houses
and businesses that capture important individuals
in the days following the offense
and for the next couple days you're going to see how this
murder investigation evolved
and how eventually Q1 White becomes a suspect how Devin Brown becomes a
suspect and that they are ultimately arrested
but that's not really where this story starts
because as in the indictment it's not just murder it's
a murder for hire and i want you to think
what you hear about this evidence is what would cause
a man to do that because as we progress in
the days and the witnesses
and the physical evidence that you see is you're going to hear
back in 2017, 2018, 2019 about a feud,
a feud between Melvin Noble, also known as Moe 3,
and the defendant, Marquise Conway,
who goes by the stage name of the other BZ. And you're
going to hear how that feud escalates
and escalates until that final day of November
11th that ends in a fatality.
You're going to hear from a number of witnesses from the
ATF, from the FBI, from the Texas Department
of Public Safety about all the things that they got
warrants for, all the things that they reviewed.
You're going to see travel logs. You're going to
see text messages. You're going to see videos
that have the defendant's own words. You're going to
hear from them. You're also going to hear from the victim
because this feud from 2017 up until 2020
was being played out in front of everybody,
this entire community, state, and country. Everybody
saw what was going on and everybody saw what happened
and after you hear all
this evidence and as we build it up it might
not come linear from 2017 to
2020 it's going to come first excuse me 2004 it's going
to come in pieces kind
of like Miss Figgins talked about yesterday
and Borak about that puzzle of the gun
right the picture of the gun on the leaves it's going
to come in pieces and it might
not make complete sense
when this witness is saying what they did and what
this piece of evidence is.
So I'm going to ask for your patience. I'm going to ask that you
pay attention, be attentive, listen, look at the evidence,
and know that we're building that puzzle
and that when we get back up in front of you,
you will have the pieces of that puzzle to find
the defendant guilty of capital murder
