Senator Rick Scott discusses his legislative efforts to ban Chinese military-linked companies from U.S. stock exchanges. He argues that allowing these entities to raise capital from American investors effectively funds a foreign adversary. Scott also addresses the CCP's human rights abuses and the importance of the Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act.
And to discuss his new push targeting Chinese military-linked companies in U.S. markets,
NTD's Steve Lance spoke with Florida Senator Rick Scott yesterday on Capitol Report. Take a look.
Senator Rick Scott, thank you so much for joining us.
It's nice to be with you.
Senator, today you introduced two bills directing the SEC, the Securities and Exchange Commission,
to suspend Chinese military companies from trading on the U.S. Stock Exchange or the U.S.
Exchange. How is this going to prevent the Chinese military from ultimately profiting
from the U.S. stock market?
Well, when they raise money in our stock market, basically Americans are helping their military
to buy weapons to kill us, to destroy our way of life. I mean, this is the craziest thing in the
world. You know, you think in the Second World War, the American financiers financed the Nazi
Germany? Of course not. And so all this saying is that if you're a Chinese military company,
you're not going to raise money, you know, on American stock exchanges or from American
investors. It just doesn't make any sense why we would be helping them, you know, destroy our
way of life. I mean, think about how much money we're spending in this country now to prepare
for war against communist China. And we know that communist China is killing our kids with fentanyl,
stealing our jobs, spying on us. I mean, so we got to stop supporting their military,
stop supporting their economy, basically.
It's truly incredible that this has not already been a topic of discussion, not to mention how
many pension funds are invested in the Chinese economy and market there. One of these in one
of your bills, Senator, one of the provisions would require the SEC to mark Chinese military
linked securities with the Chinese military company ticker seems reasonable. How much do
you think American investors currently even know about their exposure to some of these companies?
Oh, I don't think they know at all. I think I think, you know, there's so much of the money
in our stock markets now is through hedge funds and through mutual funds. And so it's somebody
else investing the money. And you know, it is actually disappointing to me that anybody that's
an American citizen would ever put money in a Chinese one for sure, a military, some Chinese
military company. On top of that, why are we helping the Chinese build an economy or a military
when they're causing most of the problems we're dealing with in this country? I mean,
they're killing our kids with fentanyl intentionally. This is all intentional.
They never comply with trade deals. They lie all the time. So we've got to wake up.
They've decided, they've chosen, the government of China has chosen to be our enemy,
and they want to destroy your way of life. And Senator, you've been sounding the alarm
on the atrocious human rights record of the Chinese Communist Party, the Senate, unanimously,
all Republicans, all Democrats just passing something called the Falun Gong and Victims of
Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act. What message does this send to China about its human
rights abuses? And what do you think this means for the United States?
Well, it's showing that we actually have a heart. We actually have standards. We actually care
about people. You know, we care about not just Americans, but people around the world that are
persecuted. China persecutes, it kills, it destroys. That's what totalitarian governments
do to stay in power. And so what the Chinese government does to Falun Gong, or what they do,
they harvest organs, or what they do to the Uyghurs. I mean, it's just a disgusting government.
Xi is a disgusting person. And what he and his government does
to their own people, it makes us sick to our stomach. And I hope as we do this,
Americans continue every day to wake up and say, we're not going to do business
with any Chinese company, because it's disgusting what the government's doing.
