Raining (blues roots) - Markus K using the Trackd app on iPhone

I am proud to present you with my latest song and video. The song came extremely easy. One night, about a week ago, it was raining very heavily on our tent. If you have ever experienced heavy rain on a tent, it is exhilarating! You feel the power of nature from the comfort of your dry hiding place. I picked up my guitar and started singing, ‘It’s raining….’ pretty much exactly as the song is now, from start to finish. The next day, I recorded the song on my iPhone, using the Trackd app. First a guide track, to get the feel right, and then the guitar and vocal individually, to get the best possible quality. I thought it was finished, but when I played it to Marga, she said ‘I can imagine harmonies on this’. This surprised me because I saw it as an old blues tune. But then I started playing around with it and recorded the harmonies as they are now. I wanted to try some drums on it, but I don’t have a snare drum at Las Planas, so I was looking around for something that would do the job. After trying various things, I ended up with my hand drum with coins rattling on it for the ‘snare drum’ and a box for the ‘bass drum’. At first, I wasn’t sure whether it spoiled the atmosphere, but now I can’t imagine the song without the harmonies and ‘drums’. I can only hope you agree!

I am working on about 6 other songs right now, including some collaborations with other musicians from the Trackd community. It is a great way to collaborate via the internet, which is very useful while we can’t go out!
