A Fall Morning, a Cliff Trail, and One Impatient Mare Oct 4 2026

A beautiful fall morning on the range brings Divot and his little family down the cliff trail for a drink. Mare Violet and colt Vortex follow him to the water, but on the way back up, Divot makes the mistake of dawdling.

Violet is having none of it. After all, creating new life while feeding another is hungry work, and she apparently has places to be.

There’s always something happening out here with wild horses, from family drama to water-hole negotiations and everything in between. Follow the stories of stallions, mares, foals, and the wildlife that shares their range on our YouTube channel, Wild Horses Gallery @ColoradoWildHorses
