This video exposes the deceptive world of Pokémon card \"resealing\" scams, where fraudsters tamper with factory-sealed packaging to steal high-value cards. From subtle glue applications to blatant fraud involving empty packs or unrelated items, these scams target everyone from casual collectors to high-end investors, causing significant financial loss and damaging community trust.
Opening Pokemon packs is supposed to be the best part of collecting.
However, some scammers have figured out how
to steal the good cards and seal the packs right
back up. From vintage packs full of modern cards
to empty boxes from Target, here are the most
disastrous Pokemon resealing scams ever caught on camera.
Starting us off with a scam so bold
that whoever pulled it off didn't even bother
which packs were inside the box. However,
the victim of this scam was not a regular customer,
but a rip-and-ship streamer who
had bought this Japanese 151 box from a scammer on eBay,
and as he opened it for a customer live
in front of his whole chat, no one expected what he
was about to pull. Luckily, this was caught
live on stream, but imagine if this customer had purchased
the box directly from the scammer. He
may have ended up like the next guy on our list,
that ended up making the worst mistake and had to
confirm his suspicion with a vendor nearby.
So he walks up to him and asks for a second opinion on
whether the pack he had just bought looks resealed
or not and as soon as the vendor picked it up he
immediately didn't like what he saw it does look resealed
to be honest with you did you just buy
this here today where'd you buy it from the vendor
was even ready to confront the scammer however
when he asked who sold him the resealed pack
the customer refuses to say anything but yeah it does
look resealed to me did you rip one of them there
was nothing you don't feel comfortable telling me
who that was? No, you're all good. No worries.
I'm honestly just sorry that happened to you, dude.
Thank you. Yeah, of course, dude. Have a fantastic day.
And just like that, a scammer may still be
on the run resealing even more packs every day.
And even the biggest names in the community aren't
safe from these reseals.
Since when Pokerev bought this $225 fossil pack off eBay for one of his
videos, he ended up finding something out
that would ruin his day, as it didn't take long for
him to realize that something about this pack was very wrong.
That is not a good sign. I think this
might be a reseal or something oh my god
our fossil pack was oh i can see the glue what year
are these cards 2019 oh my god oh this evolution's
in here i still can't believe that he paid 225
dollars for a bunch of bulk from 2019
however not every reseal is as obvious as this one and this
next fossil pack which the streamer was about
to rip is the perfect example of that because while
it may look odd at first from how easily it ripped,
as the streamer began flipping through
the cards,
the less obvious
the resale became.
With every card still
in perfect order,
even I'm
not sure what to believe anymore.
But regardless of what happened here, at least this pack had
real cards in it, because this next one had something inside
that nobody saw coming. Because
when a viewer sent these streamers a base set pack,
they could not resist opening it live due
how suspicious it looks however
when they opened nobody could tell that this pack had already been
tampered with no no no wait i want
to keep it sealed it's too late for that that's not
look at that pro resealing job bro whoa i mean it looks good to me
all right we got pidgey it's an all base set maybe maybe oh
but that's a shadowless nidoran switch
shadowless drowsy that looks just like
a modern card dude that's exactly how modern cards come
out the packs nowadays shadowless machop energy
but everything changed when they reached the very
end of the pack and finally found what was waiting
for them energy oh wait a fiery fusion of charizard
and cheesy spice. Believe it or not,
a real Cheeto shaped
as a Charizard sold at an auction for
$87,000 last year. So who knows,
they may have made billions of dollars from this card.
Now up next, we have one of the most ridiculous
things I have ever seen. Because this resealed
box was picked up straight off a shelf from target
and when this collector opened it up
he found out that every single pack inside was already empty
so i got this box from target and
apparently it was a returned resealed box
because all the packs were empty they tried to super glue
the ends of the packs as you can see that there
is some uh leftover super glue on this pack
And you can see how it's already been tried to be super glued.
So same for this one.
You can see the super glue that was left on there.
And you can see how someone tried to super glue it already.
Petty people for some pieces of paper.
And then they tried
to re-super glue it closed, I guess.
So be careful, y'all.
And just make sure your boxes aren't resealed returned items.
This is a whole new level of evil.
Because whoever returned that box probably got all
their money back from Target
it and still kept every card that was inside.
And the craziest part is that Target was so
incompetent that they didn't even bother to check
the return before putting it up for sale again.
Now this next buyer thought he had found
an amazing deal on this vintage Sky Ridge pack
that he bought online, but it did not take long
for things to get suspicious. While the seller
listed it for $999, they ended up settling on $825.
And when the pack finally showed up,
upon close examination, he found something incredibly suspicious.
Once I removed the pack from the cardboard,
it was packaged in a clear sleeve,
and this was held shut with a security seal.
I did notice this seal in the pictures online,
but just didn't think much of it.
So I break the seal, take the pack out, and start examining it.
The bottom crimp appears to be intact,
but then the top looked a little bit different.
These ridges here felt sort of flat.
There's this strange line on the front of the crimp,
and most notably when I turn the pack over,
behind where that little seal sticker was in all
the pictures is this strange discoloration.
And so he DM'd the seller, who came up with a flawed excuse.
Now, immediately when I saw this,
I messaged the seller and asked him about it.
He said,
I believe there was a price sticker on there and it was removed.
Okay.
A price sticker?
Come on, man.
If that was true, then why was that spot covered up
in every single picture of the listing?
And what was even more suspicious is what the seller said next.
He also said he got the pack from another online seller
that sold Pokemon cards and sports cards.
But if you remember, the listing says that he got
the pack from a box break a few years ago.
Things aren't lining up, allegedly.
Now, I know these scams have been insane so far,
but make sure to watch until the number one spot
because they somehow only get more ridiculous from
here. This next vendor decided to buy 47 packs
from this random guy at a card show for $310.
But when he started opening them with his friends,
he realized that the packs were missing the third
hit. Hey, you guys want to help me rip this?
Red Victini, bro. That's what we're looking for.
Is this missing or is something getting caught?
Am I tripping? Is missing the hit?
No, let's just open one of these bro.
It was I didn't open that guys
We just bought a bunch of resealed packs.
So they had sleeve boosters as you can see.
I'm not even not even opening it
They're already to be sealed. So they tracked down
the man to get their money back. So there's glue on it
That's all that's all fake
And bro the pack didn't have a third hit
There was something that told me just to open it up
Unfortunately,
not every story ends with a refund,
as this next streamer learned that
the hard way, because WenzelTCG had bought
a factory sealed case of Japanese 151 boxes
to sell, but the moment he opened the shipping case,
he immediately knew that something was
wrong.
We got scammed on an entire factory sealed case
of 151 Japanese booster boxes.
Instantly, when I opened up the case,
I noticed the double layer of glue on the case itself.
And then right away,
you could see a slight blue tint to the seal of the boxes.
Japanese boxes are very clear and the wrap is very loose.
You can see here with this pitch black box, super clear, loose wrap.
This thing is extremely tight.
Guys, got to be careful.
seal cases are not safe luckily he caught it before any
of those boxes ended up with a customer
but he still got stuck paying for an entire case of resealed product
however our next vendor wasn't
even that lucky because he didn't find out until
the box was already open because when he opened
up this poncho pikachu box in front
of the sellers he found out the horrible truth
It looks legit. The way it feels.
They mean that it feels more softer.
Yes or no?
Or someone steals my money.
The way I grabbed it before though, it just...
Yeah, yeah.
There we go, there we go.
But the thing is the condition of it looks way better.
I'm looking for about like $380.
Than the other one.
For the trade, you should know this.
Oh my f***.
No, this is still not legit.
Wait, what?
And not only did this box not
have the promo, but the packs
were from the wrong set as well.
These days, even buying sealed from a vendor is always a gamble.
But even so, buying from an online shop is always 10 times worse.
and this father and son were one of the millions
of victims of the online scams as they had bought
a 151 box from a shop on tiktok
and decided to open it in their next video at first they're not
even sure if anything is wrong let's see what we got actually i
am kind of worried i don't see
anything crazy but the little flaps are sealed up maybe
that's a terrible sign because they don't
actually look bad besides that actually
however the closer they look the worse it gets
oh wait a minute look at that it's like hold
on oh that doesn't look good oh look at that it's
like a cut right there oh no no there's another
cut right there oh no i did buy two boxes from
the same shop oh man there's no way this happened yet
this is glued and this one's very sealed too
look at that you can see where they cut it open
and this wasn't even the first time that this
shop had done it to them oh man well
that means i know where it comes from though because i bought
two boxes from the same place
and we know that they did it now yeah so now i can actually let
y'all know who did it so you'll be seeing
that now getting scammed once is bad enough but getting
scammed twice by the same shop is just painful to watch
but imagine if you had bought some pokemon
cards and gotten something entirely different instead.
That's exactly what happened to this
YouTuber who bought a full case of Japanese booster boxes.
Everything looked normal from
the outside, with every box still wrapped
and stacked neatly inside of the case. But once he
opened them up, he realized that he didn't get any Pokemon cards
at all. Someone had filled these
boxes with One Piece packs instead.
But since those have become pretty valuable lately, the
scammer may have accidentally sent him something worth
a considerable amount of money. Now this
vendor had bought a few elite trainer boxes from a dad at a card show.
These boxes are supposed to
come with a special promo card and a stack of sealed packs.
But later on, a customer decided
to open one of the boxes
at the table, but the promo
card wasn't there.
So they started feeling
the packs and almost every single one
of them fell off bro what's my luck are they cooked oh
they might be cooked let me see all right it's pretty crazy
are they all like that oh yeah
yeah they're all like that
they're cooked they all i guess this one doesn't no this one didn't
Now this is the type of
situation that can ruin
a vendor's credibility
since if they
have no proof of the previous sale,
they could easily be accused of scamming, no matter how
they try to deny it and it would be hard
to believe them since some scammers will go above
and beyond to cover their tracks
however sometimes a hero steps in to take down the scammers just
like when rattle pokemon caught a shop in japan resealing boxes
and he was not about to let them
get away with it he had bought japanese scarlet ex boxes from the shop
but when he opened them
the best cards were all missing it sucks it really sucks
that people can be this terrible
uh and that the the srs were removed
from the scarlet boxes the two violet boxes came from a
different seller so he started investigating
and the evidence he found was hard to ignore
not to mention uh the included singles
so you don't sell singles online uh you don't seemingly
open product and sell the singles uh
but then they include this little this little packet of bulk
can you guys guess where this bulk came
from yeah it came from the packs that they stole the the
hits out of very nice if we flip
the box over they happen to to be resealing from
the left side so we take a look
at that we'll take a look here see all that
extra crap on there you can feel it
with your finger if you run it over it they
added super glue
so you can smell it you can you can feel it it was a good one
there's a good one look at that splatter look
at that look at that money shot
right there we have um they they resealed the box
on uh on the left hand side on both of them
so clearly intentional we had two of the scarlet packs ended up
with no lot number on them as well
uh which i don't think is a big deal
and i don't think where the actual scam happened
uh what is a big deal uh is there's three packs
with numbers that do not match the two that
correspond to the boxes themselves
so they they replaced three of my packs which contained higher
rarity cards uh one of the boxes was missing the SR
and the other probably had an SR and an SAR in
it so we got scammed for three hits
and now he's filing fraud reports and getting law enforcement
involved so this shop may be in some serious trouble
but somehow this deal isn't as crazy
as the number one spot on our list because
when this streamer was about to buy this $75,000 base
set box from one of his viewers the last thing he expected
was for this box to be entirely tampered
with. He quickly noticed a few warning signs on the outside,
but the only way to know for sure
was to open it. But I can't fully tell.
And the reason being is there is some damage to the box
here. Now, so oftentimes this kind of damage is kind of alarming,
right? Because typically
you don't see this crease, right?
Typically you don't see these creases on the boxes
unless somebody opened it and folded the flap back, right?
Now, the reason why I don't think
this was you know opened
and done like that and one of the reasons I think is
that it's not but I'm not sure
that's why we're gonna open it is for the
simple fact that it is jammed
as you can see here do you see this side you see
that this box side right here it's been jammed
so something hit it something
impacted this box here on the outside
what I've noticed is that the country
code there's usually only one country code right
but for this box there's
there's multiple country codes
so that's something else to kind of factor and
think about as well so that was a little
bit interesting for me that there was
more than one country code on the bottom
of this specific box lastly the thing
that you know some of you guys might have noticed if you looked at this
there's no Wizards of the Coast wrap
this again can be alarming it should you
know ring bells these are all different
things you want to look for and you kind
of want to weigh out in your head to understand
and kind of gauge if you know
there's something wrong or not and when
he finally did it didn't take long to
to
realize
that
the
box
had
been
resealed.
But the craziest part came
when he found something in the box that was definitely not a Pokemon
card.
Oh, look at that. Look at that.
That's got to be a vintage booger. Oh my god, dude
This booger was probably from the guy
who resold the box like 20 years ago. Oh my god put this in a sleeve
I call PSA right now if I get this graded, bro
I got it. I got it. I got it. I got the booger baby. Yeah
Can you guys imagine if someone had actually bought this box?
The sheer absurdity makes this one
of the craziest reseals to ever be caught on camera.
Check out this video on screen next
to see even crazier Pokemon card moments.
Trust me, these are insane.
