Russian Z-patriot Igor Strelkov-Girkin, who is serving a prison sentence in Russia for criticizing the Kremlin, sent a letter to his comrades. In it, he stated that for Russia, the war against Ukraine is "getting worse and worse." The letter was published on his Telegram channel.
Strelkov believes that the Kremlin is in a state of "deep confusion" due to the failure of attempts to negotiate with Washington on the surrender of Ukraine. "All the efforts of Kiryusha Dmitriev, a friend of a friend's daughter, have predictably come to nothing, as Russia currently lacks any rational and solid basis for ending the war while preserving, however modest, at least some territorial gains... The war, frankly, is getting worse and worse. Our Armed Forces are incapable of either preventing or successfully repelling the enemy's numerous 'pinpricks,' which have long since moved from the category of insignificant and tolerable to the category of being dangerous for both military production and the economy as a whole," Strelkov writes. He also noted the total "sobering up" of the Russian people, who have begun to see with their own eyes and feel in their wallets the consequences of the so-called "SVO." No one believes the propaganda stories that "everything is going according to plan" anymore. According to Strelkov, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin's latest threats to "seven people hold me back" are a weak position. Overall, the Z-patriot believes that Moscow has driven itself into a deadly and hopeless trap with the war. In the letter, Strelkov also began to write about the current fear in the Kremlin. At this point, his text was abruptly interrupted. Associates believe that his further thoughts "were not censored."
Z-propagandists and Instagram celebrities are openly criticizing the Kremlin. The Russian army's "victories" are becoming a subject of ridicule, while the economy continues sliding downward. Speculation about the rapid and inevitable collapse of Russia has circulated in the Ukrainian information space since 2014, following the first wave of Russian aggression. Many argued that any empire, especially one as internally fragile as Russia, would inevitably fall apart. Several causes of crisis are highlighted. Among the most obvious is the economy, which is visibly suffering from sanctions and a massive imbalance in military production. The military-industrial complex became the only engine of the economy, while still providing GDP growth and wages even higher than before the full-scale invasion.
A major gift for the aggressor became Trump's Iranian adventure, which caused a rapid rise in oil prices. It became a very "black swan" Kremlin strategy — endure pressure, outlast the West, and wait for something unexpected to happen. Swan arrived, but Ukrainian Defense Forces quickly clipped its wings — and an increase in oil revenues turned out far smaller than expected. Meanwhile, the budget deficit already exceeds the annual target by one and a half times.
