Well, as we speak, there is chaos
in India's national capital with protest versus protest
taking place at the moment.
The latest that we are getting at the moment is that the India
bloc is staging a march towards the Supreme Court of India.
There you can see Abhishek
Manu Singhvi, the Congress leader there, along with,
of course, other MPs from the Congress
Party. He is marching from the Barakhamba Road
to the Supreme Court of India. Remember, as
As we speak, there are two parallel protests that are happening.
One, which is led by the opposition India bloc, led by Rahul Gandhi.
And there's a bus in which he's traveling at the moment.
It has started from Mandi House in central Delhi
and it's moving towards the Supreme Court of India.
Rahul Gandhi has the Congress chief, Malik Arjun Khargi, along
with him, other Congress MPs, as well as Yogendra Yadav and Neha Bora.
She is, of course, the left-wing leader of the Students' Union.
But also apart from that, parallelly, remember,
the BJP Mahila Morcha has also been holding protests
against Congress' inner Manipur MP, Dr. Akai Jam,
who faces sexual harassment allegations.
He's also been suspended from JNU
and has an FIR registered against him.
So two parallel protests that are happening.
The visuals that you see at the moment
are visuals of the opposition march,
which is happening right now in central Delhi
from Barakhamba Road to the Supreme Court of India.
Now, a few hours back, the Chief Justice
of India had already written to Rahul Gandhi saying that,
look, if you have to make sure that I hear a case,
you have to file a petition.
And then it comes to me. We only have administrative.
We don't have administrative powers.
We only have judicial powers and we will look into it.
But this seems to be, of course, a symbolic march that we
are looking at, which the opposition is trying to make.
And another day of trying to make an impact
of how they want these protests to be looked at.
Let me quickly go across to my colleague Kripa.
She's joining us from the newsroom at the moment.
Kripa, what are you hearing as far as the latest is concerned?
We've got the opposition bloc marching
from the Barakhamba Road to the Supreme Court of India.
Right, Shreya. We know that the latest, for the latest,
Supreme Court has clarified that it has neither approved
nor disapproved the Form 6 changes in SIR judgment.
There are also protests ongoing from the BJP Mahila March
that is showing against the MP of Manipur.
They are showcasing fighting against the sexual allegations
and demanding answers from the opposition leader, Rahul Gandhi.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had claimed that 50%
of police forces are in the India bloc's favour,
supporting the march and the demands that have been put forward.
He even alleged the central leadership of vote theft yet again
and shared videos of what he called jailing of Delhi
and police brutality towards the protesters.
And further raising questions on why Gyanesh Kumar
is not resigning as the chief election commissioner,
despite demands from lakhs of people.
And meanwhile, 10 opposition MPs who met President Murmu,
they are reportedly they will be signing
and submitting the petition in Supreme Court.
To talk about this petition in particular,
Rahul Gandhi had earlier highlighted three major points.
I'm going to quote them here.
Congress president and I wrote to the CJI expressing our grave
concern about the murder of Indian democracy and election fairness.
These were the words of Rahul Gandhi
as he presented in front of the press.
The second point was the Honourable CJI has responded
and instructed us to file a petition.
And the third point was that India bloc leaders
and Rahul Gandhi will march to Supreme Court
and file this petition
while inviting all Indians to support the India bloc.
These were the words coming in from the opposition leadership.
All right, Kripa, I'm going to keep coming back
to you for the latest at the moment.
Let's quickly cut across live.
We're getting live visuals from Central Delhi.
And look at that.
These are protests that are happening.
They started this morning. They're going ahead.
The opposition is marching towards
the Supreme Court of India to file their petition.
And as far as that petition is concerned,
remember, we're given to understand that
the 10 opposition MPs who met with President Draupadi Murmu
are the ones who will be signing this petition
and they will be filing it in the Supreme Court.
The CJI has assured them that this petition will be taken up tomorrow.
That's Tuesday. They've also, you know,
the CJI has also said that this is within our judicial powers.
And therefore, this is the legal procedure to go ahead with it,
that you file a petition and you go ahead with that hearing.
Other than that, the CJI or the Supreme Court do not have
the administrative powers to give an order or look into this matter.
But as you can see, Abhishek Manu Singh,
the senior advocate at the Supreme Court of India, also marching there.
Parallelly, we've got the BJP protesting against
the Congress in our Manipur MP as well.
I've got my colleague Dharamjot Kaur on the ground.
She's been tracking the entire development since morning.
Let me quickly go across to her.
She's joining us on the phone line at the moment.
Dharamjot, you know, I can totally understand a lot
of chaos that's happening at the moment on the ground,
right from Mundy House to Barakamba
to now towards the Supreme Court of India.
Give us an understanding of what's happening there.
What's the opposition saying at the moment?
Thank
you.
