Even though Halloween Day hasn't come around yet,
Christmas is on the mind of some families
with annual traditions already starting, 22 News reporter Claire Overton
learned about how locals are prepping. Claire, that's right, Retta.
It's not like they're skipping Halloween and Thanksgiving. They're more
so making sure this year is going to be the perfect Christmas.
I'm in the happy business. That's for sure.
I think I have the best job in the whole entire world.
According to Mariah Carey, well,
almost Halloween and Thanksgiving are up first, but many families
are already preparing for the Christmas season. Paul Bunyan
Farm and Nursery in Chicopee is home
to thousands of Christmas trees that
families take home each year.
It does take me ten years to grow a Christmas
tree so I only can sell so many a year
because I have to save trees for the
years following for all our great customers
who come in. Susan Lopes, the
owner, getting to be a part of memories
in what some people call the most
wonderful time of the year.
Another family was here for the first time and
they tagged a Fraser fir and the mother left so excited.
Susan saying she's seen a lot of new families this year
but for others tree
tagging is a tradition that gets passed down
from generation to generation. I
came with my family here to get Christmas trees and now I bring my own
nine years I'm with my own family.
For the Boutin family this tradition is
something they look forward to each year
and when you find the perfect tree
tagging it to mark it as yours. All right ready, we got to do it again
double knot. The boys get to be part
of the process that we look at all of them
We went across the street, we came back, you know.
It takes time, but, you know, we just get to find one
that fits our home, you know, that speaks to us.
Each family tagging their tree in a unique way.
Whether it's the color of the ribbon
or if they're bringing their own decor from home,
it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas very soon.
And they still have some trees available
for tagging over at Paul Bunyan's
with the trees ready to go home
and be cut right around the Thanksgiving time.
Working for you, Claire Overton, 22 News.
