In this video, we're going to show you how to make Animal Crossing: New Horizons fruit scones - real life crafting recipe!
These scones are perfect for your next party or for snack time in the afternoon. They're really easy to make, and you can customize them to match your own personal taste. So come watch us make these scones and learn how to make them in real life!
For the scones: 250g flour 15g baking powder 2g salt 45g sugar 40g butter, softened 52g eggs 75g buttermilk 80g dried fruit (combination of dried cherries, pears, apricots, and candied orange peel)
The rest: Apple cider, as needed Egg wash Jam and marscapone cheese, to serve
Place dried fruit in a mixing bowl and cover in apple cider. This step is optional but highly recommended. After a few hours, drain and set aside. In a mixing bowl, place flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add butter and mix until it's sandy. Mix in dried fruit.
Combine eggs and buttermilk. Add to the bowl and mix until a dough forms. It shouldn't take longer than a minute. Once it comes together, place on a lightly floured surface, cover, and allow to sit for 30 minutes.
Roll out dough until it's 3/4-1 inch thick. Cut out rounds. Place on a parchment-lined sheet. Brush tops with egg wash. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Once oven comes to temperature, brush the tops of the scones once again. Bake for 15 minutes or until scones are golden brown on top. Turn halfway through.
Allow scones to cool on rack for at least fifteen minutes. Serve with jam and marscapone cheese or eat alone.

Hey everybody, on today's How Me Cooks,
I'm injured, but the show must go on.
We're making fruit scones.
Alright, first things first, these are fruit scones,
so I'm going to use the complete Animal
Crossing fruit spectrum, including cherries,
orange peel, pears, and peaches are good,
but they look kind of gnarly when they're dried,
so I'm using apricots, which are nice
and shiny and golden, and they look really cute and they taste amazing.
The cherries and the orange peel, I'm going to leave whole,
but I am going to dice up the apricots and the pear.
And actually, I'm going to use kitchen shears
because I don't want to injure myself more.
Alright, so the cherries, I did end up chopping up.
That way, they will incorporate into the dough a little bit better.
One fruit is missing, and that is apple.
But, I didn't forget it.
I'm going to incorporate apple using my favorite cider.
Alright, in a large bowl or measuring cup, put all of your...
fruit pop open
this delicious cider over
the fruit right after about
two hours i'm going to strain
the fruit you can drink this apple cider or toss it
but i would drink it it tastes really fruity
now all right under normal circumstances i would
not be using my beautiful blender to make these i
would make these by hand however injury
so i only have one arm free so i'm gonna use the stand mixer
you don't have to though if you are using
a stand mixer in goes the flour some salt don't forget
that sugar and baking
powder put it on low
to just mix it up a little
bit in goes butter you
want to make sure that it
is soft again slow after
about two minutes it should
be kind of
sandy yeah that's right sandy all right let's focus
on the wet stuff all right to some buttermilk
We're gonna add one chicken egg,
a bit of vanilla,
and whisk it up with a fork.
Actually, before we add the wet ingredients,
I'm gonna add the fruit in right now.
It should incorporate a little bit better that way.
Give that about a minute.
Now you can pour in your wet stuff.
Let the mixer go for about a minute
until a cohesive dough forms.
You don't want to over mix it though.
Once you see the mixture kind of clump up,
you're going to want to go in from the bottom
and make sure that all the flour gets stirred
in and then you can turn it back on again otherwise
there's going to be some flour at the bottom
that's never going to get mixed in you don't
want that so the dough's already borderline
perfect i'm just going to lightly flour a wooden
surface and kind of put this into a small square
flip it around all right now we're going to cover
this for about 20 minutes you can wrap it
in plastic i don't like using plastic i think it's
wasteful so i'm just using a kitchen towel
that'll keep it from drying out i'll be right back all
right let's roll them out carefully roll them
out you want them to be about an inch thick and
i actually i'm going to get a ruler
for this actually i'm going to do about three quarters
of an inch let's roll them out a little bit too thin
on the first go around that's okay you can
scrunch up the dough pretty user-friendly stuff here it's nice
and soft, it's got a good amount of fat
so it's nice and pliable. Let's check that again.
Nice, perfect. I'm going to cut using a standard
dough cutter, and this is actually
a little bit smaller than I normally would go, but I think I'll
have a nicer circle if I make smaller. See?
And actually, I'm going to flip them upside down when
I put them on the baking sheet.
For the second batch that you roll out, you don't have to worry
too much about the dough and overworking it
Just kind of work quick. Only add more flour if
it starts to stick but this is going
to be pretty good i think eventually you'll get to the end and
you'll just have a bunch of scraps
so just kind of push them together into something kind of perfect
that way you don't even have to cut it out
so you don't waste any more dough that will be mine
might be a little ugly when it bakes up
but it'll taste just as good so i got 11 perfect circles and
well 10 perfect circles and one kind of a regular one
but that one will taste good you want them on
a parchment lined sheet. I'm using Silpat
because it is reusable but you can use parchment. You do
want to line them though otherwise they will stick.
We want these to be nice and glossy so
I'm making an egg wash which starts with one egg yolk
and a little spoonful of cider that we soaked
in that fruit. All right now brush over all of the top of your scones.
All right these are prepped
but we're gonna gloss them one more time
but in the meantime you can preheat your oven.
Once the oven comes to temperature,
glaze them one more time. Into the oven they go!
All right, after 15 minutes in the oven,
take them out and then let them cool
on a cooling rack for
about 15 minutes.
Typically, scones like this are split in half
and then served with clotted cream
and strawberry jam. Now, I don't live in the UK,
so finding clotted cream is kind of hard, but
I do have mascarpone cheese which is very similar in taste
and texture and instead of strawberry jam
which I think is really really gross uh I'm using raspberry jam
which is my favorite jam of all time
here's how I make it all right now people argue whether
to put the clotted cream on first or the
jam I prefer the cream on first and the jam on top
also I would not dream of having scones without a
nice strong beverage in this case fruity black
i eat quite a few treats around the holidays
but i probably eat these more than anything else
because fruit scones are yummy if you liked that
