Celebrating Culture and Community at the Mega Mixer

The fifth annual Hispanic Heritage Month Mega Mixer is bringing together more than 60 community and professional organizations in West Dallas. The goal? Help entrepreneurs, nonprofits, leaders, and community members find new ways to work together. And it's happening on October 14th at Winsome Prime. Anna Cristina Robles, community activist and organizer, and Hey Chica board member joining us now to talk all about the event and its theme, Together Somos Más. Thank you so much for being here, Anna. I just am curious, what does that mean to you? And how does that theme come to life at this event? Well, thank you so much for having me, first of all. Thank you so much for having our community with me. So together, Somos Más, it is a way, a day, an evening to celebrate our superpower, right? So I think that the Latino community in Dallas is doing so much good stuff, so many good things within the community. And we just want to take a night to celebrate that and make sure that people are connecting to know what missions are so they can kind of grow their impact we know leadership can be a lonely space sometimes and so we just want to make sure that we're creating a space for these leaders to come together swap ideas and impact the region together and you're bringing together more than 60 organizations who will all be there who should consider attending everyone should consider attending it's regular it's for regular people for North Texas non-profit leaders, people in business, corporate, civic. We want everyone involved because we believe that everyone can lead where they're at. So whether you're currently leading these organizations or having a passion project that you want to get started and just need the inspiration, we want you to be in the room. And can you tell us a little bit about some of the organizations that are going to be there among the 60 that are showing up? Sure, there's so many that are going to be there. They're focused on youth empowerment, higher ed, women's empowerment groups like DFWH 100, HW, Hispanic Women's Network of Texas, Dallas, Arlington, and Fort Worth chapters will be attending. And so we're so excited to also have higher ed groups like Volar, College Readiness, Primos Mentoring, the Greater Hispanic Dallas Chamber of Commerce is going to be in attendance as well. Anything from the myriad of higher ed to youth empowerment, community empowerment that's what we're about to certainly a variety of organizations there for somebody starting a business or maybe growing their career what kind of connections can they make they can expect to make connections within 60 organizations with over 300 people that are on fire for the city so i would really encourage them to come out if they are willing to collaborate and champion then they'll be in the right spot to make moves um to move their business forward And, you know, networking can sometimes feel, you know, a little intimidating. So what would you tell somebody coming along alone by themselves for the first time to this event? Well, the big the big win there, right, is where it's a big Latino event. And so we treat everyone like family coming through the door. So we encourage you to come either alone or with your group. Just please come out and enjoy not the night. connect and share your passion and um not only consider seeking a champion but also being a champion because a lot of people are just now getting started in their give back journey and we just want to make sure that we're creating space for the non-profit leader the business leader but also the leader that's um in their lab right now trying to get started and how do people reserve a spot if they want to attend if they want to stop by reserving a spot the registration is closed, but we do encourage you to please follow these nonprofit organizations that you'll see on the screen. Also, you can follow me at Dallas Activista on Instagram, and we'll be posting more information about those nonprofits as well. Wonderful. The fifth year. All right. Again, the Mega Mixers this Wednesday, October 14th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Winsome Prime in West Dallas. Anna, thank you so much for your time. We certainly appreciate it. Thank you. Have a good day.
