My real-life Curry Dex recipe adventure from Pokemon Sword and Shield continues with Sausage Curry. Plus, I teach you how to make your own curry roux to make excellent homemade curry at a moment's notice.
Sausage Curry 1/2 TBL olive oil 1/4 onion, rough chop 1 carrot, rough chop 1/2 Yukon gold potato, rough chop 1 garlic clove 3/4 cups chicken/veggie broth or water Salt to taste Sausages of your preference, preferably something a little sweet Yellow rice, to serve
For Currydex roux: Combine all spices and mix with a fork. Set aside. Spray three small heatproof bowls with no-stick spray.
In a medium pot, whisk together coconut oil and flour. Cook over medium heat until a brick color is achieved, about 15 minutes. Whisk constantly but be carful, it’s very hot! After about 14 minutes turn off the heat and whisk to allow the roux to cool off a bit.
After about a minute, add all your spices and whisk cooking off the heat for about a minute. Then CAREFULLY place your roux in the small bowls, dividing it equally. Allow to cool on the counter, then refrigerate for 2 hours or until solid. Using a knife, break pucks out of the bowl, wrap in foil, and freeze until ready to use.
For sausage curry: In a small pot, sauté onions, carrots and garlic until lightly brown around the edges. Then, add broth and potatoes. Bring to a boil, cover, and cook at a low simmer for about 25 minutes or until potatoes are cooked.
Add 1 disk of Currydex roux to the pot. Stir while cooking on low heat until the roux dissolves in the broth. Bring to a boil, then turn off the heat. Season to taste. Fry up sausages of choice in a small non-stick pan until cooked.
To serve: Pour curry in a small bowl or plate alongside rice. Top with cooked sausages, and garnish with chives if you like. Serve immediately.
My Currydex adventures continue with Sausage Curry!
Alright, this time I'm gonna make the curry
from scratch to make up for the time
that I was lazy with the boxed curry.
It starts with garam masala, curry powder,
and dark chili powder. The darker the better.
Mix all these spices together and then set them aside.
In a medium pot goes flour and some coconut oil.
You can use shortening if you don't have coconut
oil over medium heat whisk and cook this very carefully
because it's super duper hot don't stop
whisking you're gonna want it to darken slightly until it's about
the color of cinnamon it'll take
about 10 to 15 minutes then turn off the heat
and continue whisking for a minute to kind of cool it
off then once it's cooled off a little add
your spices all at once it'll still be pretty hot in
the pan um whisk them for a minute until you know uh it syncs up
your kitchen real pretty if you
like curry that is. If you don't like
the smell of curry well maybe don't make
this recipe. Allow your roux to cool about five minutes then divide it
between three small bowls.
Let these come to room temp and then put them in the
fridge for a couple hours.
When it hardens in the fridge use a knife to get
these discs out and then wrap them in foil.
Congrats you made curry dex roux.
Now you can make curry at a moment's notice.
Keep these frozen until they're
ready to use. They'll keep for months, but let's make some right now.
In a medium pot, go a little bit
of olive oil and onion, carrot, and a little bit of garlic.
Saute this whole mess for about five to
eight minutes or until they're a little bit brown around the edges.
Now add chicken broth and bring
to a boil. Then if you're so inclined, you can add some diced potato.
Cover and cook on low for 20
minutes or until your potatoes are cooked.
All right, here's the cool part. Grab one of your
curry decks roux and then add it to the pot.
Keep stirring until the dish dissolves. It shouldn't
more than a few minutes then you can bring to a boil
and season to taste see easy peasy all right
now grab some sausages i recommend something
on the sweeter side like breakfast sausage
these little cuties are vegan neat huh whatever
sausage you use cook them in a small pan until
they're cooked through or heated through depending
on what kind of sausage you're using to serve get
some yellow rice there's a recipe for it
in my other curry video link in the description and
then ladle on a little bit of that homemade curry.
Top with sausages, garnish it with chives if you
want. Two curry recipes down! Gotta curry them all?
I don't know. Yummy! Did you like that? Give me a
follow, won't ya? Links and full recipes are in the video description.
