Slowly building. We are already picking up a slight offshore flow
and Santa Ana winds blowing stronger as we push into this evening
and especially into tomorrow.
Thursday into Friday is where we're going to see these winds peak.
And once it comes through, it's not just bringing in fire danger,
but it's also heating us up in Southern California.
So we have so many alerts to go over.
But I'll just give you quickly the headlines before we dive into it.
Gearing up for critical
fire weather after a beautiful day today.
Today is the day to prep. Beach hazard statement continues
into Thursday tomorrow where dangerous rip currents
and higher than normal surf as well
as high tide going to be an issue again only
through about tomorrow afternoon. Significant
Santa Ana's winds and heat conditions
and those conditions will stay in effect at least through
the early part of the weekend as possible.
Temperatures will be a little warmer each and
every day courtesy of the offshore flow.
We're anticipating 81 degrees today and here comes the
red flag conditions, lower humidity as well as these gusty conditions,
red flag conditions in
areas through Ventura County, Santa Clarita Valley,
out towards the San Gabriel Valley
and gusts could reach up to 50 to even 70 miles an hour
and this will be in place tomorrow through
Friday. If a fire were to ignite it could lead
to extreme fire behavior hence the warning.
high wind watch will be in place for the IE
and portions of Orange County as well the fact that
we've got gusts up to 55 miles an hour it could lead to downed trees
and power lines so we'll be
on watch for that and here's the beach hazard statement
as I mentioned high tides today
we're predicting about 6.5
to 7 feet just minor coastal flooding and beach erosion
and dangerous rip currents are possible
and going into Friday as well we do have wind alerts that
will also take place beginning tomorrow heat threats 80s
and 90s are in the forecast due to
those descending winds and compressional heating it's going
to heat up all the way down the coast
but this is a dry heat
but still enough heat to give warning make sure you stay heat safe and
wind safe as well coastal areas 77 degrees today
with the beach hazard statement temperatures could
reach up to as high as 80s and perhaps even
a few 90s 90 81 degrees today for inland spots reaching
about 91 degrees by tomorrow
and we've got numbers for valleys 87 degrees and temperatures will be
right around 90s we are watching our mountain communities
of course very carefully due to those
red flag conditions and wind alerts through Friday
and our high deserts at 76 degrees and
low deserts if you're heading over to Palm Springs you got
to watch those winds those crosswinds
could be a problem but once you get
to Palm Springs numbers will be mainly in the 80s
