AI GeneratedThe speaker analyzes a violent crime where a son killed his parents, arguing that the tragedy was not caused by mental illness, but by lifelong trauma and \"enmeshment\" within a narcissistic family structure. The speaker posits that the parents used a cycle of coddling and abuse to control their son and protect their public image, ultimately fueling the rage that led to the murders.
I'm going to answer the million dollar question
that everybody has been asking.
OK, that's Rob Reiner and that is his son, Nick, to the left of me.
As you know, recently, Nick, he took the lives of both his parents.
He slit his parents' throats while they were sleeping.
And not only that, it is alleged that he stabbed them multiple times.
He basically butchered his parents' bodies.
okay which says to me um that's next level rage
and anger and we can blame mental illness i don't
think it's it's mental illness mental illness
is just a small component this is repressed anger
and trauma uh that this young man has been dealing
with for many many years behind closed doors
but in this video I want to talk about enmeshment
what does enmeshment mean in a family that is
being led by a narcissistic mother
and father okay in a narcissistic family structure it is
ran like a cult and there's usually a cult leader I want
to talk about enmeshment and how dangerous
it is to all the children born into this type of family structure
and what happens when one child
threatens to leave that toxic family structure
that is enmeshed uh what usually happens and why
nicholas stayed why did he if he if he um hated his parents
which obviously he did why did he
continue to go back home to them move in with them live with them
and on the flip side if his
parents knew he had all
these issues why didn't they cut him off permanently place him in some
type of conservatorship uh why didn't they you
know send him away they have the money to put him
in an apartment and give him you know
the psychological services the outreach and resources
they have all of that but instead they kept inviting nick
to come back home i'm gonna explain
why. We're going to talk about family enmeshment
in a narcissistic household. First of all, TMZ
and all these media news outlets are trying
to say he was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia.
No, he wasn't. No, he wasn't.
He'd been diagnosed in his teenage years. His family been knowing his,
his mental health, all his diagnosis.
They know that his mother and father, they have the
paperwork. They got the tea on him. Okay.
So I really wish the media would stop trying to
demonize mental illness because I know a few people,
my daughter's father, I hate bringing
him up. He has schizophrenia.
I have an aunt that's schizophrenic and they haven't been
violent towards people. This is not about mental illness.
What he did was a personal traumatic
that, that what he did comes from repressed anger and trauma.
I guarantee you we need to stop
blaming mental illness I believe that Rob Reiner
and his wife are narcissists um I believe they
spoiled him and coddled him but they
also punished him in his early childhood and that is how you
create a sociopath psychopaths are born sociopaths
are created how do you create a sociopath you
abuse them and you coddle and spoil them okay
and you you create cognitive dissonance in the little
boy that's why we're seeing a rise in male violence against
their own mothers google it I promise you
men are turning on their mothers why
because mom confused him in early childhood and she did not
allow him the opportunity to be his own individual
he doesn't have an identity he's enmeshed with his
mama she would spoil and coddle him but she would
also abuse him where she would allow others her
boyfriend her husband to abuse him somebody
in the family molest him that's how you create
uh a sociopath in early childhood the Reiners did
that with this boy before he learned that
he was mentally ill and and where does
the drug addiction come from drug addiction and we we also
need to stop demonizing uh drug addicts because
when I hear these types of stories at at the root
of all the pain it's something that happened
in childhood he was on drugs at 14 15 years old his
parents started sending him away to rehabs
because they didn't want to deal with the problem they
just had enough money to pay somebody else to deal
with him that boy needed love and the Reiners
although they had this perfect family everybody thought they
were so perfect behind closed doors
they were emotionally disconnected from Nick they did
not want to deal with the mental illness
and whatever trauma something happened I don't
care what nobody say something happened to that
boy because he was doing cocaine by the age of 15.
That's some serious ----. What happened to
Nick and why did he have to turn to heavy drugs
to cope with what happened to him? Again, we can
say mental illness, but we got to backtrack to the root
of the cause of why he turned down that road
at such an early age. Once he got out of rehab,
his father allowed him to move back in the house.
They enabled him. They probably celebrate it.
You know, when he got out of rehab, you know, gave gave him money.
Let's celebrate. Ooh, Nick is sober. Give him money. And guess what?
When they give him money,
they're enabling him to relapse and get back on drugs.
His father, his parents enabled him to relapse over
and over and over again.
His father was abusive, which is why he kept relapsing.
then they would take listen they financially they controlled
his finances okay if he's already a
sociopath undiagnosed autism adhd and he's impulsive
and he has this this diagnosis of
schizophrenia which i believe he did
in his teenage years you can't play with him give him money take
it away give him things take it away threaten
his livelihood take it away kick him out on the
streets he's going to have repressed anger towards mom
and dad that's what his parents did his dad
leveraged his mental health and bullied him
and abused him behind closed doors but dad was also
obsessed with protecting his perfect image
because dad is a narcissist he would have rather keep his
son close to him knowing his son had all
these issues they could put his son when when his son
becomes an adult, right? I want
y'all to understand there's something called supportive
housing for people who are mentally ill.
Supportive housing is Nick. Nick would have had his own
apartment and you know, he would be visited once a month,
twice a month by a mental health
professional. He would be given special services, medication.
His family has enough money to set up
a way for him to live away from the family.
Why did they keep allowing him to come back into the
home. I'll tell you why, because he was abused
and his father was trying to control any information
that would leak out to the public to protect the family's reputation.
What happened to Nick
in his childhood that traumatized him?
I guarantee is going to come out. He's going to, now that his
parents are gone, he can tell his side of the story once and for all.
His father was terrified
of the truth getting out.
So dad being a narcissist had to control the perception of the public.
That's why they kept Nicholas close
at home Nicholas said he would stay home and tear up
the house the guest house punch holes in the wall punch
the TV have these episodes yeah dad did not
want that getting out to the public because dad is a narcissist
and dad his whole family is enmeshed
Enmeshment is dangerous you have to allow
your children to have their own identity even if
they're addicted to drugs
and they're going on a downward spiral you have to cut them off and set
a boundary not in this family dad normalized enmeshment
because dad was more obsessed with
his public reputation than to allow the truth
of what his son was dealing with to go out that's
why he did a documentary because
in that documentary trying to tell his son's story
he's still trying to control
his son's you know everything that happened to his son
it's perception management
because dad does not want the truth getting out so when you are born
into a family of narcissists, the key word is enmeshment.
If you are the scapegoat child and
you cut your family off, they will stalk you
and they will become obsessed with pulling you back
in because they don't want the truth to get out.
They protect the predators and pedophiles in the
family because they don't want the truth to get out.
When you leave and cut family off, you become
a threat. That's why they didn't cut him off.
They kept bringing him into home, giving him money to
enable his addiction and kicking him out on the street.
He became frustrated. Add to that sitting
there watching his dad be praised when he knows the truth.
His dad is not a good person behind
closed doors. Over the years,
that type of resentment will build up. And this is why what
happened happened.
You have to go no contact when your parents are narcissists.
You're either going
to end up in jail or worse.
You're going to harm your parents if you don't cut them off and heal
from the damage they've caused since childhood.
This is what happens.
