The skyline has been disappearing behind me on the standard
insurance camera as more and more of this rain starts to move in.
Let's go a little closer, though, on our Hyatt Regency camera
so you can actually see that rain coming down.
Kind of exciting, kind of nice.
We've been pretty dry out there.
We still need some rainfall.
We love to see it at this point.
It's not expected to be very heavy, but anything helps at this point.
Now we're going to go in a little bit closer.
I want to show you who's seeing the rain right now.
So just starting to see some rain moving through Georgetown.
Those are more showers.
Round Rock got a little bit earlier, taking it more to the south.
We've got a thunderstorm moving into here in Austin,
so that's why it was looking pretty ominous on our cameras earlier.
Also going a little more to the south,
we did have some rain at this point.
It's starting to move away from Lockhart.
We did have a bit in the southeastern portions,
and there's still some more coming,
but a lot of that has kind of quieted down.
Lee County earlier was seeing a thunderstorm that has come to an end.
Now, you may have noticed a lot of it's focused more
in the eastern portions of the viewing area.
that's where it's likely going to stay as we head through
these next few hours and we still have
more opportunities for rain coming through overnight
though it's going to quiet back down
we'll have clear skies and then tomorrow you go back to sunshine heat
and humidity but hang in
there because late tomorrow night finally
that cold front is going to get to our area we've been
talking about it all week so it is going
to be here it's going to move past bringing with it a
chance for rain and a few other things
so picking up the winds that's already happening right now
We've got some breezy conditions, wind gusts around 20,
25 miles per hour, sustained winds around 10, 15 miles per hour.
We still were hot and humid.
We're still going to do it again for tomorrow.
Today, we hit 96 degrees for our high.
Temperatures have gone down, though, thanks to that rain at this point.
It's 87 here in Austin.
It's 91 in Bastrop.
It's 82 in Rockdale.
It's 90 in Georgetown, 90 in Atlanta, 90 in Fredericksburg.
Still very sticky.
These dew points are in the zone.
We don't like to see them, but obviously, since it's raining,
too, we're going to feel a lot of moisture out there.
but it has us feeling hotter than what we actually
are. So earlier we had a lot more
triple digits on the map, but that rain again
has started to cool us down just slightly.
But we're still going to be dealing with that for one more day,
and then all the big changes
finally happen. So let's take a look at this.
So this goes through tonight, just showing you
still going to be a humid, warm start in the 70s.
Then we'll be back in those 90s. And then
I had this fast forward all the way to the night just
to show you we're starting to see some of
that cooler air coming in. But the temperatures here
still looking to be hot, warmer, I guess I should
say. And then as I fast forward into the morning,
you can start to see that cold air coming in,
taking those temperatures down.
So as you start off your day, you're going to start to notice
the changes. And then by the time we get to 8,
9 a.m., we're talking 50s, 60s. This is Friday
morning again. And then throughout the day,
we won't warm up too much. It looks like our high
is actually going to be in the 70s.
Your dew points doing the same thing. They're also going
to go down. So right now we're in that sticky zone.
As I fast forward this, I just wanted to
show you more of the colors
because you can see all that dry air coming in once that front finally
arrives. So you've got a couple days of rain obviously right now
and then tomorrow night into
the morning when we can see those rainfall chances coming
with the front. And then of course
it's going to take down those temperatures
and it's going to take down those dew points. As far
as how much the heavy rainfall is,
it's kind of outside of our area, but we are getting clipped
in the hill country. So I just wanted to point it out.
But totals are keeping most of us around a
quarter of an inch to half an inch
so it's not going to be heavy rain really the biggest news
is this front and how it's about to change things
so you got one more day with the heat and humidity
with the summer-like conditions
and then finally that front rolls in and compared to what I was
talking about yesterday it's looking like it's coming
a little earlier than we expected so on
Friday we're talking 70s for the highs
and I think that might even happen in the early early a.m.
hours because most of the day we'll be struggling in the 60s.
51 now, how about that? And then 50s
for our lows. It's going to be exciting.
It's a big change. Very fall. Finally, right? Does anybody
say autumn? Do you say autumn? That sounds fancy.
Autumn. Autumn is here. Thank you, Leslie.
