Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe Atlantic Basin remains quiet with no tropical activity expected for the next seven days. However, the eastern Pacific is active with two systems: Hurricane Simon, which may impact the Baja Peninsula, and Tropical Storm Trudy, which is forecasted to intensify into a major Category 4 hurricane threatening the western coast of Mexico.
All right, quick update on the tropics.
Not a whole lot going on across the Atlantic Basin,
but there are still two tropical systems in the eastern Pacific.
We still have Hurricane Simon kind of spinning in place
right off of the western coast of Mexico.
We also have Tropical Storm Trudy, and that is the one
I'm really more concerned about, because that one is expected
to become a major hurricane over the next few days.
But first, let's track Simon.
It is going to potentially be a problem for the Baja Peninsula
As we go into this weekend, it may not make landfall,
but it's going to brush by and bring, of course,
that threat for heavy rain and gusty wind.
And then it will start to weaken late
in the weekend and early next week.
Tropical storm Trudy is off of that southwestern Mexican coast.
And look at that.
By this weekend, by Saturday,
it is a Category 4 major hurricane and coming dangerously close
to that western coast of Mexico by Sunday with 105-mile-per-hour wind.
And so if you've got any plans to travel to that part of Mexico,
you certainly need to be cautious because both of those systems
are going to be bringing some impacts to different parts of Mexico.
All right, let's flip over to the Atlantic Basin
and it's quiet here and I'm happy about it.
We've had nine named storms, nine tropical storms,
eight tropical storms, and of course the ninth,
Isaias, did become a Category 3 hurricane.
And now we're waiting to see if we have any shot for tropical storm
or Hurricane Josephine.
Well, right now, the answer is no.
It's not going to develop in the next week, most likely.
We've had that one hurricane, Isaias,
but after that, things have kind of calmed down.
We still have tons of wind shear across the Atlantic Ocean.
Water temps are warm in the Gulf,
but no signs of any trouble from the tropics.
And things are fairly quiet in the Caribbean as well.
So National Hurricane Center thinking
no tropical activity expected for the next seven days.
However, we've still got to get through the last few weeks of October
and all of November before we can say
for sure nothing else is happening
because hurricane season goes all the way through the end of November.
You can see the water temps in the Gulf are still in the 80s,
so it's still not out of the question.
We can see a little something, something trying to mess with us.
But overall, our chances usually after the middle of October
are extremely low, but you never want to let your guard down.
especially for the western atlantic northwestern caribbean
and for the gulf there's still that
possible to likely chance that something could pop up now we
are in a super el nino season so
the chance is fairly low but of course
if there's anything concerning we will let you know but at
least right now coco we are quiet across
the atlantic basin like i said mexico has two tropical
troubles to worry about because we've got trudy
which will become a major hurricane and then we've
got hurricane simon so we'll be watching
those but nothing in the gulf thank goodness
