The discussion highlights a shift toward cooler, more comfortable temperatures and a temporary break from the typical humidity.
All right you guys at the top of the newscast I
asked you what are you guys going to be doing
here this weekend as we're going
to be experiencing some very comfortable temperatures. It is Friday
you may have just got paid the money hit
the bank account make some plans right so we'll read some
text messages here. Mark thanks for watching he says I'm going
to be doing some yard work on my
property but my job calls here this weekend
so I'm going to be working a double shift at the
hospital because my job comes first.
All right here we go another viewer says Pam from Pearland
says, I'll be in the hospital after
open heart surgery this past
Tuesday. All right, Pam, listen, speedy
recovery, okay? Wishing you all the best.
Thank you so much for watching us here on
Fox 26 here tonight. All right,
another viewer says, I'm going
to be spending some family time outside.
Okay, I'm heading out to
Tyler, Texas here this weekend. Going to
fill up the deer feeders. Okay,
I love that. All right, like I told you
guys myself, I'm going to be going to the University of Houston
football game. It's going to start at 6:30,
so at that time, it's probably going to be
even chillier because I think the highs
are only going to get into the low 70s.
So let's go over to meteorologist John Dawson
for another look at this forecast here.
J.D., what are we looking at?
Look at you paying attention to the forecast, Anthony.
Hey, that's what I do, baby.
That's what I do.
That's nice.
Yeah, I'm glad you're going to have a great time.
I was already a little jealous
when you said you were going to be going to the U of H game tomorrow.
I think an outdoor football game would be a fantastic or any
sporting event would be a fantastic way to spend your day tomorrow.
And yeah, 6:30, that's going to be pretty comfortable,
a little bit cool for sure.
The winds will have let down, though, finally.
That's not what's happening right now.
Still very windy out.
These are the gusts that we're seeing across the area.
20s and 30s, this wind advisory goes until 1 p.m. tomorrow.
And if you're right on the coast here in Galveston,
your wind advisory goes all the way until 1 p.m. tomorrow.
So the closer you are to the coast,
the breezier your morning is going to be tomorrow.
Although all of us are going to be a little bit breezy.
It's just not going to be as flat out windy
as what we're experiencing across the area right now.
So we continue to see these conditions
of 74 degrees on the thermometers.
Again, in the 70s, very comfortable.
These dew points, that measures that amount of humidity.
You know, here in Houston, normally we're in the 70s or upper 60s.
When they're in the 40s, that is such
a pleasant kind of taste of some of that drier air.
So this will be kind of the peak
of the cold air that we're going to see.
First of all, tomorrow in the afternoon,
only about 70 to 71 degrees, those lower 70s.
And then Sunday morning, it's going to be lower 50s.
And some of us even going to be in the 40s if you're
a little further inland away from the Gulf.
Currently, we've got 70 up in Huntsville.
We're already in the 60s up in College Station and Brenham.
Sugar Land's at 73.
Galveston's at 76.
Big difference between this same time now as opposed to yesterday.
16 degrees cooler.
Wharton is 19 degrees cooler right now compared
to yesterday at this time.
And there's some colder air, of course,
even further back up into the Panhandle.
54 right now in Amarillo, Midland at 56.
We've got 70s here along the coast, that front well past us.
And those areas around the Panhandle will
be experiencing a freeze warning tonight.
It's because it's the first freeze of the year,
so it won't be an extended period of time below 32 degrees.
But again, it's that first one, so they're issuing
that freeze warning for big parts of that area of the country.
So tomorrow morning, we're going to be in the lower 50s.
We'll have a few of us in the upper 40s.
And then Sunday morning, more of us in the 40s, upper 40s.
And then the rest of us are going to be in those lower 50s.
So it's going to be, again, pretty comfortable overall
when we start looking at these morning low temperatures across
the area on Saturday and Sunday morning.
And then even on Monday,
we're still going to have the morning in the 50s.
We get to warm back up, though, back into the 80s.
And we're going to see this gradual warming trend.
I was hopeful maybe we didn't even have to put a 90 on the board.
But I do think we'll probably be close
to 90 degrees once we get towards the end of the week.
I like all this discussion of what we're doing this weekend.
Keep sending in those text messages.
We'll talk more about them later on in the newscast.
We'll have more Fox 26 news coming up after this break.
