Fox 5, it's time for a good night, New York.
Good evening, I'm Crystal Young.
And I'm Ryan Christopher.
Welcome to Good Night, New York.
I want you to name that dance as opposed to name that tune.
It's moving and grooving.
Oh, I like that.
Moving, yeah, moving, yeah.
Okay, wait, I can do it too.
No?
Okay, wait, I feel like you got an extra little pop in it.
No doubt.
Okay.
Wait, I got some shows to pass too.
It's the same feeling that always gets fine.
All right. Why are we talking candy? I don't know.
Because we're talking about candy tonight.
We're just two weeks away from Halloween.
We got our costumes ready. I think yesterday in our
meeting, we picked our costume.
What we're going to wear to the show. I don't know if this is a
final decision, though. I don't know.
We might have to go back. Well, mine is way more wonky
than yours. It's very wonky. OK.
And it could be brilliant. It's kind of fly. But anyways,
we'll keep it at that. All right.
But let's talk about our Halloween candy. No more. We don't want
spill any more tea about our costumes there
but there was this data that was just released about
the most popular candies
so number one Crystal, let's break it down for everybody all right here
we go number one on the list is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups I
was getting on Moses our producer
was calling it Reese's I'm like where did you grow up Reese's
do you like because I'm do you
like Reese's I'm I do but I don't want to like jump over any hoops
and beat my chest and scream
it on the top of a mountain wow like I go that far
with candy huh no I like it but you know it's
okay it's good I got I got beef with peanut butter
and candy like I'm a fan of nut butters like I
like almond butters but I'm not a peanut butter guy
in chocolate I know it's an unpopular demand
or thought yeah yeah yeah okay you know what
maybe you need some nougat with that you know
I'm a fan of nougat some nougat
with the nut butter yes where's this going I don't know but
it's heavy on the end you get nut butter okay all right
so Reese's Peanut Butter Cups followed by
M&M's yeah Hershey's milk chocolate
at number three yes regular M&M's are number four and
number five is the candy that Ryan hates we don't we don't want
that keep that nougat to yourself
who wants a Snickers that's like the cheap like
a Snickers okay if you get your dating deal breaker
if you say, oh I really don't like Snickers, I'll
be like, check please. So you mean
to tell me Snickers is better than
Milky Way? I mean to tell you, yes.
I don't think so. I disagree.
And that's okay. We can agree to disagree. 98% of America
I think agrees with me. Well, guess what?
I'm also the guy that says I prefer
almond nuts in my
candy over peanut butter. Oh, guess what?
Me too. Oh, okay. Okay, I'll take
the almond over peanut. How about
Mounds vs. Almond Joy? Oh, Almond
Joy. Almond Joy is better in that case, right?
Come on. Now, those are almonds in there, right?
Yes. Okay. I get confused with the nuts
and the chocolate. My mom's name is Joy, but I just
like a nut, I like a little something extra, yeah
sometimes you feel like one, sometimes you don't
yeah, but chocolate candies made up the top seven
of the ten. Now the only outliers that were not
chocolates were Sour Patch Kids. That ain't even right, I kind
of like Sour Patch, okay, okay. How
about candy corn? Absolutely not. Okay, okay, I feel like
if you like candy corn, then that's a first
day deal breaker. True
that, yeah right, totally. Okay, well let me just ask you this: what's the
flavor of candy corn? Do you know? Oh damn
is it like butterscotch? It's vanilla. Now why would you
take something that looks like corn
and make it vanilla flavored? Although it shouldn't be corn
flavored here's the deal it shouldn't
be a candy candy corn just go back where you came let's let's
zoom out Crystal and look at the whole country
and then the tri-state area in particular okay
it's kind of the opposite
so Crystal yes you're not a fan of Swedish Fish right no no i love
anything gummy oh if it has
that anything gummy yeah well yes all types of gummies why i'm just
asking in case in case you go to a halloween party
and we happen to be there i just want to make sure
that the host is providing the gummies you want it
was a candy corn gummy right then i wouldn't
like it okay yeah but other than
that i'm open all right i'm just talking about all types of
gummies here okay but open
to that high fructose corn syrup messes with your veins apparently
so that's bad yeah it's bad for you people don't
do it all right okay all right meanwhile the u.s
cities that bought the least amount of candy yeah
and the most amount of candy might have some very
interesting and revealing results we really got
to get to the bottom okay we're getting deep into
candy okay anchorage alaska and most
of the pacific northwest made up the cities that bought the most
candy that's interesting right are they bored
Do they want candy? They got nothing to do. Sugar, okay, true that. While five
of the top six cities
that bought the least amount of candy
came from New York
or New Jersey
with New York buying the least
and New York buying
the sixth fewest amounts of candy.
So New York and New Jersey
are less about candy.
Oh, I like that. Well, there's more to do
here, number one, than Anchorage, Alaska.
Then sit around and just eat a bowl of candy.
And I would assume that there are more adults without
kids here, so do you think maybe people,
like there's more people who just don't celebrate or necessarily
buy a bunch of candy for kids right you know what okay
those are interesting theories i don't know
hey it's it's a reach on that one
and then in alaska what else are you doing on halloween like
nothing no in the snow i know exactly hanging out
in your igloo yeah that sounds like fun
actually eating a snicker bar some candy corn
all right okay now you crossed the line with
snickers okay now now we got beef a bridge too far
a little bit too far okay but up next halloween
might be just two weeks away but it's never too early
to think about christmas already is that
time of year it is we have a guest that's taking part
in a very unique christmas movie it's not
what you expect yes arden marine she
is in a movie called christmas at the crinkles and she's
going to join us on the couch
Good night New York, all of New York, we're all coming back for you
What is happening
neighbors we are
The Kringles.
This Halloween.
This obsession with Christmas is kind of weird.
Do they go that big every year?
They go that big all year.
You're invited.
You're coming for Christmas.
We're doing what we do best.
I guess we're doing Christmas at the Kringles.
To Christmas at the Kringles.
So the holiday horror comedy,
I know those things don't sound like they go together,
Christmas at the Kringles hits theaters Friday, October 30th.
And we've got to check it out because it's playing Miss Kringle.
She's a veteran comedian and actress
who has stolen many TV scenes on the big screen for nearly 30 years.
She's, of course, from MADtv and her hit Netflix series Freebird.
We welcome the one and only Miss Arden Marine to Good Night.
Best name this side of the Mississippi.
Thank you so much.
Before we get into the movie, let's just talk candy.
What's your favorite Halloween candy?
My favorite Halloween?
I feel like I would get one Snickers a year because it's expensive.
I would hoard it, so I'd go for the Smarties first.
Okay, do you go for the fun size or the full size?
I mean I don't think I ever got
a full size oh wow well I I would if I got a full size forget it
Okay do people give out full-size Snickers
Hey yeah it depends on the house you go to
in a nice neighborhood personally it's just
a hypothetical question you got like an IRA or
something I see you I already spent all
that you know what I'm gonna do for Halloween I'm gonna
make treats for people no not true
no tricks tricks there you go I'm gonna have zero candy
you ring my door I'm gonna pull a rabbit out of the hat
or something I like that but you won't
be getting no candy i like that you don't even think
that you could give a trick it's sort of
an option isn't it it's an option i'd
be like trick people trick people to trick me i'm gonna
pull a rabbit out of the hat i'm gonna trick you into thinking i got some candy
but i don't i haven't i like it it's
2026 you do you you do you i'll let you know how
that works out if i get kicked by some unruly
seven-year-old oh come on now
this makes me happy it does good yeah you make us happy just by being
Congrats on this movie and we miss you and we miss MADtv.
Oh my gosh, thanks!
How much fun was MADtv?
It's one of my favorite shows of all time.
MADtv was so fun getting to work with Bobby Lee every week.
I probably shouldn't say that now,
but I've seen him naked so many times and they had
a custom strip in his shirt.
Okay!
Crazy!
Whatever makes you happy.
You want another?
No, no, no.
Craziest work environment.
I remember my mom would come and she would,
he would just do it and it was like, whoa,
is crazy but it was so fun it prepared me
for this i mean you know i get paid to do everything
i was in trouble for as a seven-year-old
as a kid right i like that yeah a big kid get a check
yeah you're like i get paid for what was not like
this was not what i was supposed to do but it's
not work this was my specialty yeah yeah making people laugh
and now uh this new awesome movie
you kind of play an evil miss kringle i play a little bit misunderstood
The bad girl, she's a little lost.
Tom Lennon and I play a couple that they love Christmas.
I'm going to be honest with you,
this is the most fun, including Mad TV.
This is the most fun job I have ever...
No way.
Really?
Why?
We had so much fun filming this.
So it's Tom Lennon from Reno 911, who's my husband.
It's with David Wayne from The State, Rob Riggle.
rachel bilson beverly d'angelo ron livingston what
a cast oh gosh honestly it is so freaking
funny i love christmas
and it's a horror movie like it's crazy best of both worlds and what we
were filming and it was so fun i mean i think it
was everyone's favorite job and we're like oh my
god is this is this ever gonna edit together this well
because they just let us go and then the we
watched it i'm like it's
so good it is so sincerely funny it's so scary even if you
are afraid of horror movies
but you like a comedy come for the comedy if you like a horror
i'm gonna be honest with you i think people are loving it
and you're gonna this might be a cult
hit it is so funny all right what's the craziest thing
that your character does without spoiling
any plot lines or anything like that, this is not I
was just talking about how much I loved
Rachel Bilson, we fell in like friendship love
and so they let me, I kept improvising in a scene I was
like I want to braid your hair, let me braid
your hair, let me braid your hair, and then like we
pitched it, we were like can we just cut
and I've like given her lots of tight braids, like and so
she let Rachel Bilson let me, we fully she fully let me
and she looks crazy but we had like she
let me just put all these crazy braids in her hair
and it's in the movie, yeah we had some fun on set
so you basically wrote that into the script, we wrote it
into the script, yeah and they kept it
in the movie, I that's gotta be good, it was really fun, it was really fun
so you got to come back when
it's like the 25th anniversary of Christmas
at the Cringles, like Rocky Heart show, I want Easter
at the Cringles, I want Halloween at the Cringles, yes
that's those Cringles, all we need all the
Cringles, that's right, July 4th
at the Cringles, yeah now we're talking, get those fireworks going
I like it.
Get your Snickers ready and enjoy it.
October 30th nationwide in theaters
You've got to check it out
Come on.
It's the perfect movie to check out for Halloween
Art and Marine, we appreciate your time here on the show.
Art and Marine Halloween Machine
I'll let you know how
that goes.
I can't wait.
Okay.
Okay.
All right.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Be careful who you call that.
You know what I'm saying?
Okay.
All right.
Go ahead.
The New York City Wine and Food Festival getting underway
this weekend, and now they're hosting
their very own Burger Bash.
So tomorrow night, well, that's happening
tomorrow night, but tonight we're going to
have our own Burger Bash.
Yes.
Do you want to stay and eat some burgers?
Yeah.
Three different burger choices.
Don't tell me what a good time.
It's a great area.
Lots of burgers, lots of sides, lots of shakes.
I like flavors.
Good night, New York.
Sweet times.
Fun.
All right, for 18 years, Blue Moon Burger Bash,
it has been the festival's biggest,
boldest, most crave-worthy competition,
bringing together New York City's top chefs, burger lovers,
and culinary heavyweights for one unforgettable night of burgers,
beers, and bragging rights.
Crystal?
Yes, the Burger Bash kicks off the New York City Wine
and Food Festival tomorrow.
And in tribute, we have chefs here
for our own Good Night New York Burger Bash.
That's right. From New Jersey's Capon Burger is Chef Josh Capon.
And from Harlem Shake, do the Harlem Shake right here in New York City,
we have the founder and CEO, Yelena Pasik,
and co-owner, Dardra Coxum.
And of course, last year's winner of the Burger Bash,
we're talking about Skinny Louie's.
We got the VP of Operations, Jonathan Wance.
Guys, welcome to Good Night, New York.
We got some beef here on the show.
Yes, we do.
But we got other things.
Okay.
That's right.
Where's the beef?
It's in our studio right now.
That's right.
And we got to start with the reigning champ, Skinny Louie.
Okay, let's do it.
And we got a belt for bragging rights, too.
Okay.
So, are you nervous?
And what makes your burger so special?
We're the reigning champs, so no, not nervous.
Okay, I like that.
Not nervous at all.
He's confident.
Okay.
How about you?
Yeah, so for us, the key is simplicity.
you know on our menu we only have three burgers three shakes
and fries that's it that's our entire
menu we don't change it do it very simple
but do it the best we can possibly do it okay now one
thing i noticed your burger is trying to escape
the bun it is like like your burger is on steroids
but i like that you can nibble around the edge to even it off
and that's the best part especially
with smash burgers it's it's got that nice little crust around
the edge of it you bite that before
anything else gotcha what's on your burger yeah
so uh we have both of our burgers here uh the one
that we won last year which is our very best burger
and then our new burger for this year's
competition which we call
the naughty burger what's naughty about it yeah so we've got a uh
pickled jalapeno oh we have a garlic aioli oh uh
and a maple bacon jam oh that sounds good
now how's louie doing is he still skinny
is he fat what's the deal yeah louie's been eating way
too many burgers. Louie's not quite skinny
anymore. He's medium-sized.
Medium-sized.
It's all good. And Chef
Capon, I mean, you're known for so
much, and it's great that now you're bringing burgers to the
bash here. Now, is this your personal
burger right here? That is the eight-time
award-winning championship. Wow!
All right, don't be bashful now.
The champ's here.
The champ is here. This is no joke.
And that's going to go to anybody this year.
Eight-time award-winning. We've got the Smoke Show this year.
Caramelized onion and bacon jam.
secret schmear, crispy onions,
American cheese on a toasted bun.
Oh, shoot.
But I think the Burger Bash for me
is just one of my favorite days of the year.
Brings out to the best of the best.
It's like the Super Bowl of burgers.
Right up there with Thanksgiving and Super Bowl.
Definitely one of my favorite days of the year.
Rachel Ray, Pat LaFreda, Lee Schrager.
Making magic happen one burger at a time.
The whole crew.
Now, what makes your burger different?
Because we just saw Skinny Louie.
It seems very simplistic.
I think just a whole lot of love.
I don't know Skinny Louie.
I don't know.
A lot of love.
I think for the most part,
all burgers are created equal.
We all love what we do.
You can taste the passion in each and every bite.
But we all add a little spice.
A little bacon-onion jam.
They are not all created equal.
We are all making the world a better place one burger at a time.
Okay, now that I believe.
That's true.
I want to know what's your secret to the secret salt.
What's that going on there?
Oh, secret shmear.
If I told you it wouldn't be a secret, but I'll tell you one thing.
It's very similar to his, and it's very similar to hers.
Oh, okay.
Keep your shmear to yourself.
Keep your shmear to yourself.
Continuity.
Let's talk Harlem Shake.
Okay.
So these shakes look incredible as well,
which all three of you guys brought, which we appreciate.
So let's talk about the burgers and the shake.
And how long have you guys been around for?
So we've actually been around for 13 years.
We have two locations, one in Harlem and one in Park Slope.
And another one soon coming to Brooklyn as well.
Another one soon coming to Brooklyn
in Williamsburg and the Upper West Side.
And today we actually teamed up with Oreo to bring
a new delicious twist on our iconic Red Velvet shake,
where we blend Oreo pieces,
top it with whipped cream,
Oreo crumbles,
and red velvet crumbles as well.
Very, very delicious.
Like whipped cream.
Wow.
Very creative.
It looks beautiful.
And then how about for the burger?
Yeah, we don't want to take away
from the burger.
Okay, all right.
That's the start of the show.
Yeah, for real.
So tell us about your burger.
So our burger is
typical smash griddle burger,
proprietary blend of Pat La Frida beef.
We've been doing that since 2013.
And our best and award-winning burger
is Hot Mess,
but we didn't bring that one today.
Hot mess.
Opposed to everyone today on the table,
we have omitted bacon this year.
We've been a little bit oversaturated
with our bacon and cherry pepper relish.
So this year we're doing something different.
We're doing Granny Smith apple
and scotch bonnet pepper relish.
Wow.
Very autumnal.
Very fall.
That is different.
And the dapper sauce,
which has a secret ingredient also in it.
Everybody's got secrets.
These burger people got lots of secrets.
You got any secrets you want to share, Crystal?
Not at this time.
All right.
Well, I think I got a secret,
and that's that we're eating after this break.
Oh, oh, yes.
And we're going to start in the commercial break.
We'll come back chewing.
And we're going to tell you our favorites.
It's all coming up.
The Burger Bash on Good Night, New York.
We'll be right back.
That's right.
Okay, my mouth is full.
We are back to judge our Good Night, New York Burger Bash
with the folks from K-Pond's Burgers, Harlem Shake, and Skinny Louie's.
We have all three in studio.
I'm currently chewing, and this is good.
So I decided to start with Skinny Louie's
since they're set in the standard.
Oh, you did?
Okay, well, that's good.
How about you?
What are you eating?
Well, I'm also eating Skinny Louie's because you handed it to me.
So what do you think?
It's darn good.
How'd you already eat half of the frigging thing?
I tasted the truffling.
Yeah, that is the 2025 New York Burger Bash winner right there.
Oh, wow.
There's a lot going on in that place.
But in the best possible way.
Yeah.
Is there like a fruity something in there?
Fruity?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
It's the secret sauce.
There's some secret in there.
Okay.
Okay.
Hold on.
All right, hold on.
I need to sip your, what do you call this?
Oh, it's shake.
A milkshake.
Okay, hold on.
Somebody's having a party over here.
This is Crystal's dinner.
This is it.
Oh, my God.
This is her lunch.
Oh, my God.
We move it on.
We move it on.
Okay, so moving on.
Moving on.
I'm going to hand you that whole thing.
All right, all right.
This is a smoke show from Kayfond's Burgers.
We just opened up our second location.
All right, this includes the schmear you cannot talk about.
to smear caramelized onion bacon jam,
shaved pickles.
Oh, yeah.
How you doing?
Come on with it.
Let's go.
Come through, Josh.
Burger Town Center.
Come on down.
You see, it makes you dance.
When a burger makes you move like this,
you know it's good.
This makes you want to do the burger dance.
It's a smoke show for sure.
This is a good one.
We actually call it the smoke show
because we launched in Vegas.
Our first location was in Las Vegas.
And good tech stuff.
Smoke show Vegas.
We also have a blackjack on the menu,
a little shrapnel thing going on.
Last but certainly not least.
Good, good.
Okay, hand me.
Harlem Shake.
A little shake?
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Let's go watch that little shake.
Definitely saved the best for last.
Oh, that's nice.
Saved the best for last.
All right, here we go.
Harlem Shake.
Let's go.
Let's see what you guys think.
Your location, 124?
124th and Lenox Avenue
and on 5th Avenue and Park Slope
on the corner of Sterling.
So it's open 153 Grand Street.
Oh, wow.
You got relish?
Oh.
I'm just relishing this moment.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, Lord.
I see what you did there.
Very tasty.
I love them all.
Definitely.
Okay, let's not forget the shake, guys.
No, no, let's not.
Let's not.
You want some fries to go with that?
Cheers.
Oh, my goodness.
Cheers.
Cheers.
This might be the greatest show in Good Night, New York history.
I mean, for us, it's not for you, but.
Yeah, can you all come back tomorrow?
No, tomorrow we'll be at the Burger Bash.
We hope to see you guys at the Burger Bash.
Right, right.
We're 17.
Let's go.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
All right, you know what?
I'm calling a three-way tie.
Honestly.
No, honestly.
I don't think you really understand what's happening until you get
a bite of all three
at once.
Come on, do it, do it, do it.
Come on.
That's a champ right there.
You just got yourself a belt.
That's right.
That's right.
That was amazing.
I don't want to touch it.
I got all this money.
That's a good TV interview.
I love it.
The champ is here.
I love it.
The champ's here.
All right, we are back here.
It's the Good Night New York Burger Bash, of course.
We got Skinny Louie doing the Louie shuffle.
We got K-Pon, Chef K-Pon doing the K-Pon kick.
And, of course, Harlem Shake doing the Harlem Shake thing like that.
Exactly.
We want to thank you guys.
This is so delicious.
It was.
Thank you for having us.
Dig in yourselves.
I mean, don't you want to have a bite?
I think I'll have a sip of the shake.
Okay, okay.
You do you.
Why not?
Why not?
What time is Burger Bash tomorrow?
7 o'clock tomorrow, Pier 17.
All right.
Be there.
Hope to see you there.
I like it.
Make sure you get into it.
That's right.
Bring your hunger.
Bring your taste buds.
Get your shake on.
All those things.
Thanks for hanging out with us tonight.
I'm Ryan Christopher.
And I'm Crystal Young with a full mouth.
Make it a good night, New York!
