AI GeneratedPresident Trump addresses reporters in the Rose Garden, highlighting achievements in law enforcement and the fight against drug trafficking. He claims a significant reduction in police deaths and drug smuggling via sea and land, while discussing the challenges of fentanyl addiction and the role of Mexican cartels in the drug trade.
I want to take you live to the White House right
now where President Trump is in the Rose Garden
speaking to reporters, just stepped out there,
and we want to listen to what the president has to say.
Well, in every single month that I've been in office
and police officers' deaths in the line of duty
have reached an 80-year low. That's so good.
And we're bringing the death penalty back
for anybody that kills a police officer, by the way,
or anybody in law enforcement.
And I will tell you, the drugs coming in by sea,
by ocean, by sea, are down 97%.
And we don't understand why it's not 100%.
But, you know, for years, they would take somebody,
indict, they like to say, they'd indict.
They'd take somebody, bring them to a Miami or Texas court,
and they'd be out of court in, you know, a couple of minutes.
Go back to Venezuela or wherever they came from.
And they'd be on the next boat bringing in millions
and millions and even billions of dollars worth of drugs.
And we were really in trouble.
But now those drugs are down 64 percent coming in fentanyl.
Oh, we haven't even said we haven't done
the land full blast yet, but it's starting.
We have to work. We're working with Mexico.
But unfortunately, the cartels run Mexico.
I tell that to the president of Mexico.
She's not happy. She's a great woman, wonderful woman.
But the cartels run Mexico. But we've we've hit them hard.
And it's very, very we wanted to do the sea
and the water first because the water that's harder to do.
And people didn't realize that a big percentage
of the drugs come in by the sea, by the water.
So it's 97 percent. That means three percent
are still bringing drugs in by boat.
And we want to find them because we consider them
to be the bravest people anywhere in the world.
because anybody that gets on a boat and wants to try
and make it and you see those missiles
you ever see they never miss
from 600 miles away sometimes they're closer and further but you have
from the sky they come space force
and those missiles come and they hit those boats dead
center and you feel terribly for the people
but you know every boat kills thousands of people
think of it that way then you feel better
but every one of those boats kills thousands and
thousands of people and ruin families all across our country
so we have it down 97 percent i mean
the only bad thing about it is nobody wants
to go boating anymore it's killed the fishing industry
nobody wants to get into a fish let's go fishing darling
no thank you just in case
just in case somebody one of you guys has
a happy trigger let's get a boat there's a boat out there
going fishing they don't want
to go fishing anymore i don't blame them actually but to
fight the scourge of fentanyl.
I proudly signed the SUPPORT Act to get more life-saving Narcan
into the hands of our first responders.
And we have some other Narcan type products coming out
that are even more amazing. It's incredible.
Problem is you revive them and then they go back
in and they travel with Narcan themselves.
It's a sad situation because yes, it is what it is.
Not surprising though. So they're addicted
and they'll take a drug and then they'll do the Narcan
themselves or they'll have one of their friends give it
and it's a very vicious cycle the best
way to do it is not to take it if you don't take it
if you don't I oh you know I'm fortunate I
don't smoke and I don't drink
and I have no longing to drink I have friends they drink
and they have a real hard time you know they're addicted they have
a real hard time staying away
drugs probably even more so it's probably the same
but as alcohol but if you don't drink or
if you don't take drugs, or if you don't smoke, there's no problem.
I have other problems. I have
some very severe problems. But those are not one of them.
I don't want to add them to the list.
Do you understand that, Todd?
I don't want to add them to the list. Because if I did,
I guarantee I wouldn't be here right now.
So it's three problems I don't have. And that's
really good. Now the press is going to say, what problem does he have?
Let's figure it out. I
probably set myself up for that one, Todd.
Todd's going to have to try and defend me because they're
to say he said he's got some serious problems what are they
which i i actually don't know i
was just being i was just having fun
to the media they're wonderful people but i've uh reduced the
flow of fentanyl across our southern border by 67 percent
which is amazing and the land is really just
starting it started a few months ago we're hitting
them very hard we know all the paths we know where
all the bad guys are, the cartels.
We know where they live, and we're hitting them hard, but it's
going to be harder as we go along.
They know they have a certain period of time to essentially give
up. Mexico should be doing it, but honestly,
they're not capable of doing it. I want to thank
the heroes of ICE and Border Patrol.
When you talk about people that are capable, you guys love to do
it, right, Paul? And I just want to thank them for the job they do,
the bravery they show. They
have no fear and uh the they deal
with the cartels like ho hum other people wouldn't they wouldn't
want to deal they're rough
so uh they've helped us achieve the most secure border in american
history so we're actually now
the most secure we've ever had it in history you know i did it
twice i did it when i won in 2016 i campaigned on it
and the border was very bad but nothing
compared to what it was uh president trump speaking live
from the rose garden at the white
House right now talking about the focus on drug cartels,
specifically those coming from the
Caribbean Sea, trying to penetrate U.S. territorial space
and the effort to combat the influx of drugs
here and the treatment of folks that may
be afflicted with drug use problems. The president,
no doubt, will probably start elaborating
on other topics as he begins to take questions from the
press. We'll continue to listen to what
the president is saying here in the Fox 5 Atlanta
newsroom. And of course, if he speaks on any topical,
timely news matters, we'll turn that
sound around and bring it to you.
