Want to take you live to the Georgia National Fair,
where folks are out and about on this
glorious Thursday afternoon, and it looks like a busy scene there.
Look at the crowds down there near Macon.
Quite a scene and quite a place to be.
Who wouldn't want to be there today instead of being inside at work
or wherever you are?
Newborn farm animals stealing the show there
at the Georgia National Fair, and we are going
to take you inside.
41 NBC's Gina Tripp is in Macon now.
Gina, and joins us now with the details.
You're in the thick of it there.
Looks like a pretty festive place to be.
Yes.
Hey, Tom.
Like you said, it's very busy out here.
I'm right here in the baby barn.
This is a classic show of Georgia's agriculture.
I'm actually going to turn the camera
so you guys can see this baby calf that was just born at 120 today.
I'm also going to give you guys a look around the baby barn.
This is a classic staple here at the Georgia National Fair.
People love to come in and see when the babies are born.
I'm going to kind of just move over here and show you.
This is one of the cows that actually gave birth earlier today.
So they bring in about four cows each day.
And what they'll do is when the cow is ready to give birth,
they'll bring them over to this ring.
And this is where they'll give birth.
They have cameras on the cows.
and you can just see the beauty of life
um so yes it's very active out here these are the moms that
are resting from giving birth today
so far 20 baby calves have been born at the Georgia National Fair
so yes it is a very lively scene out here i just want
to throw that to you guys in studio
reporting live in Perry, Gina Trip 41 NBC News, Gina looks like
so much fun um i love a good fair
and especially an agricultural component to a fair.
As you say, agriculture is such
an important part of the Georgia economy.
And it really looks like there,
from where you're standing inside that venue,
that you can kind of get up close and personal with these animals.
So it's not only a fun experience for the kids out
in the fair to ride some of the rides or what have you,
but you bring them in a place like
that and they can actually see nature in the making.
Yeah, that's very true.
And I actually forgot to tell you, Tom,
that not only do people get hands-on experience,
but UGA students get hands-on experience also.
So they actually bring in UGA veterinary tech students.
So they'll get to get in the ring, and they help the cows birth.
So we actually, before you guys came to me,
there were some techs in here,
and they were wiping down Luna.
This is Luna.
She was born at 1:20.
So students get hands-on experience.
People get to see the beauty of life.
So, yes, it's very nice out here at the Georgia National Fair.
All right, besides what's happening in there, before we let you go,
let's take that live picture again
of the fair outside as Gina's talking to us
because it looks like a great place to be.
And I'm assuming with the great weather coming up this weekend, Gina,
that folks are going to be able to go out to the fair
not too far south of Atlanta where you are.
What are some of the other things that folks can do there?
Yes, so, you know, there has the concert series going on.
actually tonight Jesse McCartney is supposed
to be playing there's going to be concerts throughout
the rest of the fair of course rides there's you know
a reptile show there's plenty of things for
everyone to do so if you just don't want
to ride you can come listen to some good music get some
good food and just have a good time out here all right
the Georgia National Fair uh down there
