But it really is a great day to be a Wisconsin sports fan,
whether you're a Packers fan, Brewers fan.
We've got so many things to be proud of here in Wisconsin,
including our hockey team, the Admirals.
They have two games this weekend.
I want to bring in Admirals President John Greenberg.
John, thanks so much for joining us here on Fox 6 Now,
and I hope you're staying dry.
I haven't ventured outside, Maddie, so I think we're going to be okay.
I'm right there with you.
It is going to be a soaker out there, but we're excited.
And good thing, Admirals, the stadium, indoors as well.
We've got two games coming up this weekend.
What do fans need to know if they plan on heading out there?
Sure.
Well, we play the Colorado Eagles this weekend.
They're the affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche,
and we don't normally get a chance to see them,
so it's a different team than our fans are probably used to seeing.
Friday night is Hocktoberfest, so it's hockey and Oktoberfest together,
and that's a fun thing that we've been doing the last several years
and a lot of German-themed promotions and music,
and it'll be a lot of fun.
And you can buy a Bierstein package that has an Admirals logo on it.
So a lot of fun stuff for Friday.
Saturday night is our first dog night of the year.
So we have two of those each season, and this will be the first.
You can bring your dog to the game for just $5 for the dog,
and all the dogs and their owners sit up on the 400 level
and it's a really unique experience.
Two really exciting themes coming up as I read it here.
And actually, oddly enough, one of my friends is from Denver, Colorado,
and she's a huge Avs fan.
I know you had said it's not typical for you guys to see this matchup.
So what's the reason for it happening this Friday?
Yeah, so when we do our scheduling with the league,
we have to negotiate with teams that want to come and play us.
And the teams that are out in that Pacific Division,
which Colorado is in, they don't get around to too many places.
So I started that conversation with them last year about this time,
about coming to play this year.
We'll return the favor and go out there
and play a couple of games in January.
So it's just one of those things that we
were able to put together for this year.
And we're excited to see the Eagles come here to Milwaukee.
They've got a really good team, so it should be a fun weekend.
So I have been to a few Admirals games myself, but for people
who might be interested in getting out there for the first time,
talk a little bit about the fan experience.
What can people expect when they go to an Admirals game?
Sure. So our mission here is to entertain you
from the minute you walk through the door until
the minute that you leave around the game of hockey.
So we always like to joke that we're the only sport with two halftimes
because we play three periods and there's two intermissions.
So, you know, there's plenty of promotions
and fun activities going on on the ice, off the ice.
And then it's all surrounded by an Admirals,
hopefully, victory each night.
So we hope that we entertain you.
If you've never been to a hockey game before,
I think you'd pick it up pretty quickly.
And we've said to people before, if you come to one,
you're going to want to come back for more.
it is very fun and very entertaining as well like on the ice
and off so a lot for fans to
look forward to and these are such two great theme nights back to back
but are there any that you're
looking forward to in particular later in the season
or are these your two main ones that you're
excited for so the most important ones
because they're the next ones but there are a lot of
really cool things coming up this year uh
the Kyle Marino bobble fists uh so he's uh he's one
of our tougher guys and
on our Hockey Fights Cancer Night in
December we are doing
3,000 bobble fists
so it's a bobble head but his head doesn't do
anything but his fists do so
that's going to be a fun giveaway for fans
we've started
to put together our concert series, post game
concerts, we've been doing those for many many
years, we already have
announced one of them, Dustin Lynch
who's a big time country music star
many many number one hits, we'll come on
to play a post-game show on February 27th,
the annual visit of the Wisconsin Marching Band. So
the UW band will be here on February the 12th.
So I just encourage people to go to our website,
go to MilwaukeeAdmirals.com and click on the promotions.
You can scroll through and see
all the really fun stuff coming up.
Yeah. My ears perked up when you said
Dustin Lynch, because I love him. He's great.
It sounds like a lot of exciting things
ahead this season, John.
I know you had mentioned to go to the website for more information. Is
that where people should go to if they want
to get tickets that's yeah absolutely go and uh
click on tickets and click to single games
or groups if you'd like to bring a group it starts
at 10 people or more uh but go to uh the single game link
and you can click on there and uh buy
tickets for any of our games uh we've only played
one home game we've got 35 more including the two
this weekend so lots of choices
and uh we hope people will come out and and support us it's a
great time for sports our community
and we're glad to be a part of it it really is we've got
football we've got baseball hockey
so many different ways to support your Wisconsin sports
John is there anything else you want to add
that fans you feel like fans should know well i would
just say you know always like
when people get here early um you know the doors open an hour prior to
the game uh it's always really fun for our players
when they hit the ice for the warm-up to have lots
of people in the stands those always take place
at uh at 29 after the hour so uh on friday night
6 29 saturday night 5 29 uh you know start creating that atmosphere
and that energy that
you know our players really take that uh it adds
a lot to what they're doing so the more the merrier
in the building early and we look forward
to seeing everybody starting tomorrow it really is
a lot about the fan energy i feel like the Brewers can attest
to that so we want to create that same
atmosphere for the Admirals as well.
John, thanks so much for joining us.
Go Admirals, and
hopefully see you this weekend.
Sounds good. Thanks, Maddie.
