AI GeneratedThe Philadelphia Eagles face a critical situation as quarterback Jalen Hurts has been ruled out due to a blood clot. Combined with a grueling travel schedule and multiple key injuries, the team's season outlook has dimmed, though there is significant optimism surrounding backup quarterback Tanner McKee's potential to step up.
But, boy, oh, boy, the news was coming quickly this afternoon.
A lot of different stories coming out.
And the latest news, and we had talked about it this week,
Craig, on, I don't know,
the scheduling was not favorable to the Eagles.
You make them go to London, play Jacksonville,
get on a plane to come back, go home,
and then they have to, instead of getting a week off,
they have to take on a team
that is coming off a bye week in Carolina.
And now they're going to have to do it without Jalen Hurts,
who's been ruled out because of a blood clot,
which apparently they found on Saturday before the game last in London
and they cleared him.
But now it doesn't look like he's cleared.
So now we've got a backup quarterback to go
and backup offensive linemen in just a terrible spot.
And as you can imagine, the line is moved
a little bit with the news of this this afternoon.
Yeah, like, it's reached that point for Philadelphia where
it definitely appears as though, at least appears as though,
that this is playing for next season at this point.
Like, I don't know what they're supposed to do without Jalen Hurts,
without Devonta Smith, without Saquon Barkley.
Right, Joe?
Like, you can't realistically think, I mean,
they could beat Carolina this week, I'm not saying that.
But you can't realistically think that,
given all of the injuries that they have,
that this is a 12-win team or 11-win team or a 10-win team.
Maybe they get to the end,
the division still stinks, and they have a chance.
So let me provide the only glimmer of hope here,
the only glimmer of hope,
which is Tanner McKee, I will say,
is my favorite backup quarterback in the National Football League.
they have been waiting and waiting to give this guy
a chance other teams have tried to get this
guy from them year after year after year
and i understand like hey wait a second why was he the
third string behind dalton why did dalton come
in and throw that pick a couple weeks ago why
wasn't it McKee i don't know the answer
to that but i would tell you that this kid has consistently
lit up their practices consistently lit up
their preseason games he's never gotten a chance to
start three four games in a row i think this is it
and it's very possible it's two starts or three
starts and done and then we never talk about about him again
but at least they have the hope joe
because i personally like this player i do uh i'm
not gonna like you know throw it down on the
gauntlet and say bet philly this week
but there was another guy look and let me let me not play
apples and oranges and compare him to Tom Brady
but just as a reminder Tom Brady's first start
was not good either he got sacked a million times they lost
and they weren't good with New England
and he wasn't good with New England initially wouldn't shock me joe
to see this guy be their
quarterback at all at all rest of the season next season
not wouldn't shock me in the slightest bit
i know they love him he's played a bunch
but not consecutively not two three games in a row joe
every time this guy plays week 17 week 17 four touchdowns
and 400 yards so i am a little excited
to see him play now you know the only thing
that i hope for him joe is that that the eagles were
playing silly with us and they've known
the last few days that he's going to start because if he
really just found out today or yesterday oh oh man
that's this is not a good spot if that's the case
uh you know you know for him
but but we talked about backup quarterbacks and when we did
this was the guy that i thought was in my top five backup quarterbacks
in the National Football League
I have him as close or near the top,
so I can't wait to see what he can do.
