We got an issue here with one of the number one tandem,
I guess, with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman,
the guys that call all the Monday night games here.
What is this all about?
Let me guess.
Has it got something to do with money?
What is it?
Yeah, this is a strange one here.
And, you know, listen, I have my own media stuff going on right now.
but um so you know having a little bit of insight
on it i think gives me you know a little opportunity
to to talk about it i think that that's fair
and i i usually don't love to mix up media conversations
on shows just because i i do some of the stuff
that they do and i think sometimes it is unfair
but this is one of those stories that when things happen
in like you know arguments tmz style stuff
joe i always wait i feel like it's always appropriate
to wait a little time before we
start talking about it because we don't really know if it's true
and and people are posting
videos and it looks like they don't like each other
and it's like i and i'm and i'm watching
the same videos online i'm like i don't think
this really says anything about it yeah this is all
nonsense and then of course Troy Aikman talks today
and then Troy Aikman lets it all out then
yeah there's beef like like i i couldn't believe it i couldn't believe it
so uh there's no question
that look i don't know what's going on with Troy Aikman
and joe buck that i can't say i have no
clue because i'm not there and i'm just reading everything
and i don't think we should believe
what people read but there's no question
that Troy Aikman is very upset with his contract
at ESPN there's i think he left no doubt whatsoever joe
with the quote that he gave today that he
said he's going to be a free agent at the end
of the season like that was factual so uh i i don't
know so joe i mean i guess it comes down
to us like how do we feel about this i think it's fair
to say at least for me like we're analyzing analysts
at this point it is fair to say for me
and i don't know about you joe that joe buck
is still an elite play-by-play caller in football
always has been in baseball to me he is if not the best he
is one of the best and probably will
be around for the next 20 30 years unequivocally
as one of the highest paid guys do we agree on
that maybe you don't like him i don't know
but i i think so i think he's at the top you agree with
that or no let's start with him yes let's start
with buck listen i i think buck is the best
baseball guy that you're gonna have around number
one number two i think he football he is he's he's
the number one football guy
of all right now yes i i think i think i think so too i think he'd be
the first choice okay so there you go so now
so we've agreed on that so now let's get so now now
let's paint the picture so now we've agreed on that espn has
also decided what you and i have
just decided that he is the best
because they're paying him like it right espn has has decided that
they don't think Troy Aikman
is that's very clear they they have obviously decided that they don't
think Troy Aikman is worth paying the money that they are cbs
also decided that they don't think
that Tony Romo was worth paying the money that they
were so what we have are starting to learn
here is that these networks are valuing
their play-by-play maybe more than the analysts and
here's the other thing about Troy Aikman
who I still think is great I still think he's done a
good job Joe he's been removed from the NFL
in terms of playing for a really really long time
but yet he was involved in the Miami Dolphins head coaching search
which tells you that they
valued his opinion on scouting
so I really don't know where this is coming from because the NFL
still believes that Troy Aikman is a good analyst
and understands the game so much so that the
Dolphins let him in their house and said hire our coach and our GM
but ESPN apparently is looking at him
like you know if CBS can pay JJ Watt half
the amount of money that we that we just paid Tony
Romo and he is just as good what can we bring
in somebody can Peyton Manning just slide in from
his manning cast and do the games on monday night football instead
of Troy Aikman and maybe for half
the price that's the only thing i could think
of joe i got nothing else except that there's no
question that troy is upset though
but that with that that was a horrible quote oh i mean he was
giving it his truth and heart
but that was a horrible quote they got still got five months
to work together Joe ESPN has the Super Bowl together
the Super Bowl this is a long way away
from being over
