So anybody who has questions about what's going on with the weather,
also feel free to scan that QR code right there.
Mike Woods is here right now.
Mike, it's a little bit rainier than I was expecting this morning,
and I hear it's going to be really cold tomorrow.
What's going on?
It is rainy, and then it gets cold here later on tonight here, Dan.
And, yeah, we've had some showers out there from time to time,
but it's kind of coming and going through the morning,
and this is the light stuff that we're
dealing with at this point in time.
So let's take a look at what we have going on.
First of all, we've got a cloudy sky out there early
with a few scattered light showers.
Not that big of a deal for the morning.
But even though we have had some substantial rain,
mainly in the lower Hudson Valley, as well as over into Connecticut,
we'll show you the radar in a bit.
But midday, we've got a break coming through.
So we're actually going to possibly get
into some sunshine for a little bit.
It'll be like it's all over, but it's not.
The thing is, we'll have more showers and storms, possibly some strong
to severe storms making their way through at that time.
And then we catch a break as we get into the weekend.
And that's when it turns windy and cooler for you.
And just so you know, the Storm Prediction Center has put us
in the level two risk of heavy showers and storms.
That means heavy rain, gusty winds, some lightning out there,
small hail and an isolated tornado.
Not out of the question.
This does cover the entire tri-state region for us here.
So just keep that in mind as we get deeper into the afternoon.
It's that cold front that will be coming through that is responsible
for the stronger to possibly severe storms that could be coming on by.
So the first round of showers.
Now, we had it earlier this morning with some scattered showers.
It's mainly been in the core of the tri-state region,
and now we've got those showers pushing to the east.
It's out into the central sections. It's out in the Hamptons,
North Fork, South Fork, East Hampton, out near Sag Harbor.
You've got some pretty solid showers. Doesn't look like thundershowers
are a problem for us at this point in time,
but some heavy pockets of rain
and some ponding on some of the roadways likely out east.
Temp-wise, you've got 64 in Central Park, 61 in Sussex, and the winds
are coming in from the south at around 5 to 10 miles per hour.
We're continuing to pull up that warmer, more humid air,
and it almost has a little bit more of a spring feel,
or even maybe an early summer feel that we have going on for you today.
Warm fronts passing through. In between the warm front
and the cold front, we've got a little bit of a break right there.
And so that's why I'm saying in the middle of the day,
you might get a little bit of sun, which is not good news,
because what happens is the sun's heat energy gets in there
and adds a little energy to the atmosphere,
the heat and humidity build up, and that means
when the cold front comes through,
right around 6 to 8 o'clock,
there's a little bit more fuel for it to work with.
So with that being the case, we could see
some heavier showers and thundershowers,
gusty winds, heavy rain,
as well as the isolated tornado chance out there as well.
These are things that the Storm Prediction Center has put out there.
After that, it does turn windy and cooler.
This particular model looks interesting.
It wants to bring back more rain by the time we get to Monday.
Some of the models do not, so we're going to be watching
that part of the extended forecast for the future.
But for now, let's get through this one.
And this particular storm wants to give us, on average,
around a quarter to a half an inch of rain,
according to the Barron forecast models for us here.
So it's not a ton of rain, but it's not nothing.
And we had some showers this morning.
Then we'll see a break later on this morning into the afternoon.
And then more storms come through this evening.
High temp goes up to about 76 degrees for you.
Tonight, we're going to see those showers
wrapping up right around daybreak, hopefully.
We get a pretty dry Saturday coming through for us, but there
are some indications it might want to hang a little bit longer.
It's cooler, it's windier.
Tomorrow we clear out high at 54 only on Sunday afternoon for the city.
Look at the low on Sunday morning dropping down to 41.
That means the outlying suburbs,
upper 20s to low 30s, not out of the question.
So it's a chilly weekend, a little bit breezy too,
and hopefully we keep it dry.
As I mentioned, some of the forecast models do want
to bring some rain back later Monday and Tuesday,
but we'll be watching that one closely.
But for the time being, just kind of an active weather day here,
Dad, a little bit of everything coming through for us.
It is. It's going to be cold tomorrow morning.
Mike, all right, so we're going to check back
in with you in about 19 minutes.
Denise, I know you scanned the QR code there.
You asked a question for Mike.
We're going to answer your question at about 1040 this morning.
Stick with us.
