Also breaking at this hour, a four-year-old boy
is in critical condition after Queen Creek police say he
was run over by his family's car in the driveway.
Yeah, we're getting some additional information. It happened earlier
this morning in a neighborhood near Ocotillo in Signal Butte Road.
Let's get out to Megan Spector. She is live this afternoon
with the very latest details. Good afternoon, Megan.
Hey, good afternoon. We just heard from the police chief.
It's still a very active scene out here.
Police have blocked off the street surrounding the home.
Their investigation seems to be focused
on that car in the driveway right now.
It was just before 8 this morning.
First responders were called to the home on Escalante Road.
Police say the family was getting ready to leave in their SUV
when their 4-year-old boy was hit.
The child was taken to the hospital
and then airlifted to another hospital, still in critical condition.
Police are not sharing details about
who was driving or specifics about what happened,
but the chief says they've already ruled out any form
of criminal impairment.
You know, this is an absolutely tragic situation,
an accident that occurred where it's going to have a lot
of impact on the family, obviously, and the community.
I would like to say, you know, thank you for the community members
that jumped into action, for my brave officers that got here
and did what they could do, the fire department and the EMS personnel,
hospital personnel that were all involved in this,
trying to give this young man the care that's necessary.
Our hearts are with the family.
If we get any updates on the boy's condition,
we'll bring it right to you.
But for now, we're live in Queen Creek, Megan Spector, Fox 10 News.
