AI GeneratedThe Boston Red Sox have secured a major long-term commitment by signing ace pitcher Garrett Crochet to a six-year, $170 million contract extension. This move, praised as a strategic masterstroke by President of Baseball Operations Craig Breslow, signals a new era of aggressive spending to attract top talent and return the franchise to playoff contention at Fenway Park.
We have massive news that has Red Sox fans absolutely fired up
for seasons to come in Boston.
This is insane.
I am Sean Berry.
This is Red Sox Digest.
We have amazing news involving the Garrett Crochet extension.
Now, these are all things that probably have
been looked over by the everyday fan.
If you are a part of the 81% that is not subscribed,
please make sure you do so.
It will really mean a lot to us.
Let's get right into everything.
Craig Breslow has impressed me so much this offseason,
especially more than anything that
I've seen in the past.
Obviously, last season was his first year
as the president of baseball operations, aka
the general manager of the Boston Red Sox.
As recording, today is opening day.
As recording, Gary Crochet has signed a big-time contract.
Craig Breslow, you are a genius.
Not only giving him what he wants,
which is what we need to do in order to win.
If the Red Sox need to win games,
they need to give players what they are asking for.
Or more, to be honest.
It takes money to make money in this league.
and the sooner that Craig Breslow has realized that the more wins
and the more talent wants to
come to Boston there are big free agents next year such
as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is out of his
contract with the Toronto Blue Jays after
the season him seeing this that we are giving Guerrero
Crochet a big time contract in a lot of money could
be the factor of Vlad signing with the
Red Sox that would be absolutely insane
but we're not here to talk about Vlad we are here to talk
about the six-year 170 million dollar deal signed
by the new ace of the Boston Red Sox Garrett
Crochet this guy is an absolute stud he's proven
that over the last two starts that he's had with
the Red Sox his first start he went five innings
five innings allowing two runs that's fine two
runs a game that's fine our bats need to start waking up
our bats can score more than two runs
and give Garrett Crochet a cushion to give up a hit
or two or more hits than we would prefer
obviously during a game
but with this team with having Garrett Crochet is the future he is 25
years old you are forgetting that he is our starter
in the playoffs our ace right now this
guy is going to win playoff games he's going
to be clutch he's going to do amazing things with the
Boston Red Sox he made it fun last year to watch
the worst team of all time in the White Sox I am
so thrilled for this guy I just you like I can't believe it
this man is insane his game the other
night against the Baltimore Orioles
when he went eight scoreless innings was super impressive and
so amazing to see because that's what they have needed
for the last few years since they won the
World Series we are going to get playoff baseball
this year at Fenway Park and Garrett Crochet is going
to be not the main reason
but he's going to be one of the main reasons they make the playoffs
Last season, Garrett Crochet played 32 games, gave up 18 home runs.
Now, 32 games, 18 home runs, that's not terrible at all.
That's actually pretty good.
He had a 3.58 ERA.
His ERA right now is pretty close to that, if not right on that.
That's not bad.
That's actually very, very solid.
And the money that they are giving him to have
a 3.58 ERA is valid, and it's very, very good.
I cannot wait to see this guy pitch at Fenway Park.
The crowd is going to be amazing.
We're going to be on this guy.
We're going to have his back.
We're going to ride with him for six years.
I am so excited for this.
Now, Garrett Crochet had his extension press conference.
I don't know if it was today as of filming or if it was yesterday.
I'm pretty sure it was earlier this morning because as you
are watching this, it is currently Fenway Park opening day.
So exciting. And he signed his extension.
Now, Garrett Crochet went on saying,
with this contract comes a lot of responsibility.
And I intend on wearing that Red Sox uniform for the next several years
with honor and respect and just being the best player I can be.
if this doesn't scream Red Sox pride
and what it means to be a Red Sox I don't know what does
he wants to be here he wants to win he wants
the future of this franchise to be amazing I am so
excited for that now will there be bad games
of course that happens it's baseball that's going
to happen in any sport but he is going to be a guy
that we are going to rely on heavily throughout
the entire season and the next six more seasons
to come he was going to be i think a free agent
after the end of this year thank god we locked him
in for a long-term deal now after the next
six years he will be 31 could he be worse yes of course
but he i i'm just so excited for this guy
to play baseball for the Red Sox for the team
that I love now there's going to be issues obviously
with something that quite frankly is Alex Cora's
decision there are multiple starting pitchers
that are worthy of the starting spot Tanner Houck,
Walker Buehler, Garrett Crochet in my opinion
are locked for the top three pitching positions
this year there are going to be other guys such
as Richard Fitz and Sean Newcomb that maybe will lose
their spot if anything I think last year the
Red Sox used Fitz in the bullpen towards the end
of the season if that is what has to be done then
do it I'm fine with that as long as we have Cutter Crawford
in there somewhere Brian Baio somewhere
in there and Lucas Giolito somewhere in the rotation I'm fine
or honestly in my what I think
is going to happen is Richard Fitz
and Sean Newcomb are going to get moved to the bullpen
while Bayo and Cutter uh come back
from their injury they start the season on the IL and I think
Lucas Giolito is going to be a big trade piece
this year for the Red Sox obviously I would love
the guy to ball out as a Red Sox, but we have young guys.
We have Crochet, Houck. We have these
guys that can just outperform him.
Baio is a young dude that signed a huge deal with the Red Sox. He
needs to play really solid baseball this year.
Giolito, in my opinion, is the only guy that
is the biggest trade piece out
of the um the these five right here obviously and the uh three guys
that started the season on the il for the red sox now could
that change could he be lights out and
they trade cutter or Baio i don't think they're
gonna trade Baio it's Giolito or cutter are gonna
be the two guys that fight for the spot
and fight to not not to get traded by the Red Sox if this
team is a playoff team
which i think they are i think they can win upward to 90 plus this year
i know that seems kind of a lot
because they haven't done that since 2018 when they won the
World Series but they are going to be a super
solid exciting fun team we are blessed with having
this team with having this squad this year
um i am so thrilled for the Boston Red Sox
I am so thrilled for the city of Boston
to actually have fun watching baseball
Let's please make the playoffs with this huge contract by Crochet.
I need it. That is all I have for you today
Thank you so much for watching. Don't forget
