The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, addressed the media in Brussels following the conclusion of the European Council meeting held this Thursday and Friday in the EU capital.
Sánchez defended Spain's position as a "star pupil" in the fight against irregular immigration after several EU ministers, including those from the Czech Republic, Austria, and Denmark, criticized its migration policy on Friday. "Spain is a star pupil in the fight against irregular immigration. I encouraged everyone in the meeting to continue working on the migration and asylum pact," Sánchez stated when asked about the criticism.
The Prime Minister also expressed regret over the resignation of the PSOE spokesperson, Montse Mínguez, which had been announced minutes earlier. He added that he felt "optimistic" about the upcoming November 29th elections.
