Milan, Italy, witnessed a second day of unrest on Sunday, October 18, as police clashed with protesters demonstrating against rising living costs and poor public services. Police in riot gear fired tear gas after hooded demonstrators reportedly smashed shop windows and set bins on fire near Piazza Duomo. More than 60 protesters were taken to a police station for checks, while 28 people had been arrested after clashes across northern Italian cities on Saturday, according to a police report. The unrest echoes protests in neighbouring France over the cost of living and declining public services.
