AI GeneratedLuchi Ajuku, a two-time breast cancer survivor and founder of Hike Her, discusses her mission to combine nature, faith, and wellness to support women. She introduces the \"Pink Hike\" event on October 31st in Dallas, which aims to replace fear with education, empowerment, and community connection for survivors, caregivers, and the general public.
I'm invited to join a North Texas organization
for a powerful morning of movement,
sisterhood, wellness, and breast cancer awareness.
Good morning to Luchi Ajuku,
the founder of Hike Her.
I'm guessing you've kicked off the hiking boots and put on your
hiking heels today. I love that.
You have had a crazy breast cancer journey yourself,
two-time breast cancer survivor.
You have now created the hiking wellness community here in
North Texas, why combine those two things um first
of all I think uh with Hike Her beyond the hiking
it's really a place where faith, wellness
and community can coexist and you know I learned
this firsthand the healing power of nature during
my own journey before that I haven't been an avid
hiker but one thing that I knew was being out in nature
and so once I was on the other side
being a survivor that was my one mission to bring
this gift to women, the healing power of nature
and you don't have to be like crazy hiker right
no you can go you can take breaks you can sit
along the way this is the one thing I heard hiking
and I was like oh I don't know if I can
hike but then when you're out there on the trail
and and you can go at your own pace it really can
be such a beautiful thing and healing
as you mentioned even if you're not going through
something like cancer absolutely it is for everyone um it's
so peaceful blissful you know
yes blissful that's yeah yeah totally
so you've got this big event that's going to be coming up
and it's a whole day it's called
the Pink Hike it's October 31st it's going to be 7:30 at the
Cedar Ridge Preserve in Dallas um that's where you guys start doing
the hike you'll go through that
um and then you're going to move um to to more
of a kind of an awareness a teaching a bonding
experience, right? Yes. I call it the pink community celebration.
It's going to be filled
with faith. It's going to be filled with hope.
It's going to be filled with celebration because
at HikeHer, we don't want to lead with fear.
I know breast cancer is very scary, but we want to lead
with education. We want to lead with connection
and we most importantly want to lead with
empowerment and so it's going to feature
for the first time a live podcast recording and i thought
that that was important because you know
that's atypical for breast cancer awareness events but
we're going to have breast cancer survivors we're going
to have caregivers we're also going to have
health care professionals you know really talking about
this disease from a real and honest place
you know leaving the women filled with information again empowerment
and that community that is much
needed you say when you strengthen one you empower
the other like you empower everyone
who's around you do you do other HikeHer hikes like
this or is this just like this one one one
special moment yeah this is our flagship
um annual right um event for breast cancer awareness
so yes we do one in the year
but throughout the year we're hiking every month this is your thing
now. I mean, you really found a place where you're happy, huh?
Absolutely. Absolutely. Yes. Yes. Oh,
that's that's beautiful. OK, we've got all the details.
Now, does someone have to sign up for
this? Do you have to register? Can you just show up?
You can register. All the information is going
to be on the website. It is www.hikeher.org. OK.
October 31st, Halloween, 7:30 in the morning.
We'll start with pink
and with orange, 7:30 a.m. goes until noon, we have all the details on
our website as well and more on Hike Her too, thank you
so much for sharing, appreciate it
Alley, perfect day to go out and do a little hiking
