All right, listen, this is one of my favorite things to talk about.
We're talking a little sports cards
and a little football going on right now.
Showtime Sports Cards is a family-owned business here in the DMV,
and next month they're going to do a 300-table regional card show
down in Fredericksburg at the fairgrounds.
But to give us a preview of what to expect,
we've got a lot of family here with us.
This is Chris Sr., Chris Jr., and McCannon Zilonis.
Good to see you guys this morning.
And you are located in Culpeper, right?
Culpeper, Virginia, yes.
Appreciate you making the drive-in today.
Thank you.
So one of the reasons why we were talking about
this is because we just talked to Santana Moss.
You just saw the interview there,
and you guys are offering up a chance for folks to meet Santana, right?
Yes. Santana will be there in person November 14th.
All right. Fantastic. Information online
if folks want to learn a little more about it?
Yep. Information on Instagram, our website, everywhere.
All right. So the idea is you get collectors coming
from all over the place to either make purchases, trade stories.
I mean, what happens in it?
Listen, I remember the card shows. I'm a collector.
I remember when I was a kid, the card shows.
It's a lot different these days.
So what will people find if they come to an event like this?
They'll find dealers from all over the country.
We have good friends throughout the industry that we've built.
They'll be traveling there.
You're going to see Pokemon.
You're going to see sports cards.
And you're going to see a little bit of everything.
And a lot of good people gathering in one place to support the hobby.
So you can share stories.
And with the dealers, you can make purchases.
Do people still trade at shows?
Yeah, purchases, trades, all that's available.
And will dealers buy if people bring in cards or not?
All of the dealers there will purchase, yes, also.
So you have an opportunity then,
or at least if you've got some hidden treasures,
maybe you can get some advice from folks that time to talk to them.
All right, guys, you brought in some cards today.
Now, this is the thing.
This is not the card business that some of us had when we were younger.
These are some of the higher-valued cards
that you're going to find, right?
Yes, sir.
I want to go straight to the top because I want
to talk about this hobby and where it has gone right now.
The most expensive card we have on here is which one?
I would vote the Jokic.
This one?
Yes, sir.
This is a Jokic, and it's a one of one, so it is a superfractor.
So there's no other card like this one that exists.
And this is worth about how much money?
I would say about $30,000.
$30,000 right here in my little hands.
But it's not just that.
You have a Tom Brady.
This is a Tom Brady rookie, and this would be about how much?
About $2,500.
Okay.
And then what would be?
Oh, here's a James Wood.
Let's go with the current national.
This is a James Wood.
Autograph number two five, and what would you say for that?
$600.
$600.
So we're coming down.
We're trying to find a good price point here.
But we also have the Pokemon cards, and I would assume,
for everybody that has a Pokemon collection,
these are probably two of the characters that you want, right?
Charizard, Pikachu, can't go wrong.
Are those the most popular?
I would say so, definitely.
So is the market right now,
and I talk about the market for the cards, what's hot right now?
Is it Pokemon? Is it something else?
Is it sports? What do you think are the big ones?
Sports are always solid. Pokemon does well.
And lately, Disney has been really popular.
Any non-sports stuff, Simpsons, Family Guy, Disney,
everything non-sports has just been exploding lately.
Wow. All right. I've got to get you involved as well here.
What are some of the things that I guess you enjoy?
Is it when you see somebody that either pulls, like,
a really hot card or somebody walks into the shop
and they're just like, I didn't know I had this.
What do I have?
Well, things like that, like talking about the market,
I love seeing a number.
You know, people get excited about that.
But my favorite part is, like, the stories coming down
from great-grandfathers, you know, the fathers, you know, passed down.
And I work in D.C.
I moved up, went up to New York, and everyone kind
of talks about the same things with this hobby.
And I love seeing that kind of transpire just through generations
and generations, not just talking about
the Pokemon or the player themselves,
but the stories that maybe a grandfather
and a father share and pass down with this hobby.
Which is probably important because I know
that there are people that are in it for the money.
There are people that are in it to collect.
There are people that are in it for the money.
And just like you could see somebody like Otani,
who is probably the biggest name in the sports industry right now,
these cards have just gone so far up in value recently,
it's hard to keep track of.
The flip side of things is if you overinvested
in maybe a recent draft pick
and then suddenly you see that market fall out.
So what's your advice to people that want
to get interested in the hobby itself?
I believe what we've seen recently is a lot of the speculation has gone
to the wayside from people getting hurt, just like you explained.
And they're focusing more on the goats, the best players to ever play.
Which is why the Jordan cards are hot again, right?
The Kobe Bryant cards are hot again.
Mickey Mantles.
I mean, Wembley's probably a pretty safe bet as a new guy.
Pretty safe bet, yeah.
But you never know.
And when you talk about, you mentioned Disney,
this is not your 2026 Disney Chrome card out there.
This is an OG, 1931 Disney with Walt Disney and Mickey.
How much is that worth?
About $14,000.
$14,000 right there.
All right, guys.
Don't want to miss that one.
We're going to take a short break.
Appreciate it.
Thank you, guys.
Putting it back.
Proof it is right there.
But listen, go to the website right there.
You can find out more about Showtime Sports Cards.
The event's coming up down in Fredericksburg.
Santana Moss will be there to sign autographs.
Good luck to all the collectors out there.
I appreciate you guys making the trek in from Culpeper today.
Thank you so much for having us.
We appreciate it.
