We are back and this time we are going to be reviewing
a rower unlike any rower that I've seen before.
Now we have reviewed air rowers, water rowers,
hybrid rowers, and electromagnetic rowers,
but this one doesn't require air, water,
or electricity in order to operate.
First things first, we're gonna unbox it, see what assembly
it requires, and then we are gonna get to testing it
and seeing how it works and how it
operates. Now you all know there's only one right way
to open a box on this channel and that is with
the axe. Now this is the
Nova Row R7 and I'm going
to break down why
this one stands out
from the rest. The electromagnetic rower
that I reviewed in the past required a power source in
order to operate. This one generates its own power
from the motion that the machine creates so you
don't need a power source to use it.
Now, Marek has become a master in crafting these machines.
I've reviewed several other rowers that they've made
in the past, and they were always made
at the highest quality.
So you've got the standard setup with this rower.
You've got the foot pads
where your feet strap in. You have that seat that is not too soft,
but not too hard for you to sit
on for those long rowing sessions.
Cool features that this one offers that you're not going to find
anywhere else. Now, this rower does have that extended rail.
So you're going to get that full
length that a typical standard size rower is going
to give you that you might not get on those
shorter ones. So this one will fit you even
if you're on the taller side. This rower also goes
up to 130 pounds of resistance.
It's going to match that resistance level that you get at your
commercial gym rower that you're going to find in your local gym.
Now, let me show you guys how this
thing works, how does it start? How does it turn on?
All you got to do is grab those handles,
give it a tug, and just that quick crank
of that motor inside is going to power the screen
and it's going to turn it on.
Now you've also got this smart handles, what I'll call it,
but you have these buttons on here that you can control
the resistance with. So you don't have to
fidget with any screens up here or anything like that.
So even in the middle of your set,
in the middle of your workout, if you feel like you need
to go a little bit harder or you need
to go a little bit easier,
you can plus up or plus down the resistance right in the middle
of your workout without having to stop,
without having to fidget with an app or fidget with
some kind of wheel.
It's all right there at the reach.
Another thing, and I think this is going
to be one of the biggest selling points and one
of the best features is how quiet this machine is.
Let's say you live in an apartment building
or you have neighbors right through the wall
next to you, or you've got a baby at home
or people in your house that are sleeping
and you're getting a late night workout, early morning workout.
You don't want to be making a ton of noise with your rower, right?
I'm going to show you guys,
see if you can even hear it.
And then obviously you've got this little screen here
and you can, you can switch the
level with the knob as well.
You can stick your phone up here.
If you want to watch something while you're rowing,
you want to read a book or read something
on your Kindle.
It is there for you as well.
Or you could pull up the Merake app
and that's another cool feature with Merake is they have
an app that's built in that you can connect
this machine to your phone via Bluetooth and
it can log the speed at which you're going,
how many reps, how long you're going for, you can do
challenges, you can do guided workouts.
All of that is located on the app and it seamlessly
works together with this machine via your phone
to make the workouts even more immersive and even
more effective and fun. The fact that you don't have
to have a power source, it's very light.
If you have enough trunk space,
you could fit this in your car, take it to the park,
take it out of your car and literally get a rowing workout in anywhere
because you don't have to have
it plugged in and it's not heavy it's
not bulky you can literally do it anywhere let's crank this
thing up and see how it feels at level 16
which is the max level of resistance that they offer
so this should be the heaviest oh yeah yeah
that's that's pretty good for a self-generating
power machine let's talk about rating
and ranking this machine as far as rowers go i really like the
fact that it offers that high level
of resistance it's quiet doesn't need a power source doesn't
need a lot of assembly to even put it together
it took me about 10 minutes to put this whole
thing together so overall i'm going to give
this a solid 8 out of 10 now the only thing i don't
like about it is that it is very long
and it does not compact like other rowers that Marek has
released that maybe split in two easily, or you can,
you know, fold up to put away and it does
not compact beyond that full length that it offers.
So if it could compact down easily a 10
out of 10. Besides that, I really enjoyed this model.
I really enjoyed testing it, building it
and using it. And I'm going to be using it with my home workouts.
I can even put it in my living
room and I can actually watch and enjoy a TV show or something.
