AI GeneratedCynthia, a lifelong Tampa Bay Rays fan and former fan host, shares her emotional experience following the team's AL pennant victory. She discusses her deep connection to the team, her history working at the Trop, and the electric atmosphere of the playoffs, expressing her unwavering support and hope for a World Series championship.
Who was live last night in the stands
and now she's live with us here on Fox Tampa Bay Live.
Cynthia, how are you feeling?
I know you brought the energy last night, girl.
I am feeling so incredibly grateful, amazing.
Little Cin growing up being a Tampa Bay Rays fan
is so excited. This team deserves it all.
The inside of the Trop was absolutely electric.
That last out, just goosebumps, and they're coming back to me now.
And just lighting up the Trop was, I'm going to cry again.
Were there tears?
Definitely.
I had tears after last night's game.
I had tears after Sunday night's game.
It was just amazing.
I love this team so much.
Yeah, I mean, Cindy, how many games have you been to at this point,
at least this season?
This season, I want to say a minimum of 12.
I feel like it's been more, I kind of lost count.
Well, and you know what?
It's hard to keep up at this point.
And you are very dedicated, my friend.
You have made it on the Jumbotron.
These videos absolutely just making me smile ear to ear.
I mean, watching this success for the last few weeks,
and I mean, we'll talk about your
host experience in just a minute,
but purely as a fan, what has this journey been like
through your eyes?
It's been an amazing way to kind of shut down the haters.
and show that we are a resilient team.
I call it Rays Resilience. I've been wearing my pearls,
I call these my pennant pearls.
I've been wearing those the last six games or so,
and they've really worked, and we've got our AL pennant now.
It's been electrifying, and I've
been telling people, if you have not been to a game,
you must go. It is like no other experience in the world.
And coming from being a fan host,
being on the other side, knowing what it takes
to deliver that Rays baseball magic,
it just brings so much warmth to my heart.
And I had a very special experience being able to
watch one of the Yankees games with my mom.
She's in one of those Jumbotron videos and
she had never been to a playoff game.
Wow, and that's what's the coolest
part is experiencing it with your family
and those who showed you the love of this game.
Your host photos are absolutely amazing.
I can't even imagine what that was like.
Tell us about that. Being a fan host was absolutely
incredible i got my start in 2015 i was a junior
in college i called it my college summer job
and it was one of the coolest things i
literally talked about how i lived at the Trop
i would go through 10 game homestands we'd have different theme days
um on sundays kids run the
bases and DJ kid dance party I would
be there sweeping home plate making sure the kids would
kind of make it there safely without sliding too hard
um it's been an amazing thing I've actually
given my dad all of my bobbleheads to put up in his house
because I've run out of room.
But it was an incredible thing.
I called it my favorite job ever, six years with the Rays.
What an incredible club and such great fond memories
and a lot of friends I've made and
kept along the way, not only fans but also fellow fan hosts.
I know, I was gonna say, I'm looking for a photo,
I don't think I grabbed it. But I know
you're always relatively in the stands
at this point with some of the same people. We've
We've had Tampa Bay Take on a lot here on Fox Tampa Bay Live,
but I feel like it almost
makes me think of the movie Fever Pitch,
where there's all the season ticket holders and
they know each other and they're sharing stories.
And I can imagine it was like that to some extent,
especially this season.
Yeah, people laugh, they're like,
we can't go anywhere in St. Pete in general with Cynthia.
You can't walk 10 feet without her knowing someone
and in the Trop, it's an even shorter
distance.
I've worked at every single gate.
I've worked with almost every section,
118 Bruce, 120 Fancy Nancy, my supervisor, shout
out Wendy at Gate One.
I love them all so much.
And there's so many more.
I can't even remember the name at the moment.
What's so funny is in 2015, when Eric Weisberg interviewed me,
he said, Cynthia, why didn't
you join us sooner?
I said, Eric, honestly, I thought it was a retiree program.
And he said, that's illegal.
You should have joined us sooner.
a retiree right now
when you are at a game especially last night I can imagine like how
long did you stay inside did you get
to go outside do we go out after how did we had a
reporter at Ferg's I can imagine what was the city
of Saint Pete like last night absolutely
electric it reminded me of 2020 it didn't I know we lost to the Dodgers
then but it reminded me of
2020 with the Bolts um just how amazing everyone
was honking screaming out loud um we ended up
I don't think we left, walked out of the Trop until about 12:30.
I got home and was kind of in bed maybe about 1 a.m.
Everyone was staying around to see the amazing celebration on field
and just seeing everyone's reactions.
Seeing the different players go to media,
come in and out of the clubhouse from their champagne showers.
Such a great time.
Honestly, wanted to try and collect some of the confetti.
We need to bottle that up and sell that or something
because it just brings everyone so much joy.
I bought these pearls after I came off of a cruise,
but I had an original pair that
I was wearing and they broke.
So I put it in a baggie and I kept that with me. And I
have my cowbell and my rally towels. I'm very serious about the game.
You know what, as you should be.
I've got a belt too thin and I said you, wow, look
at you. So you tie your towel to it so that you can
do both. Wow, you got the race fans hacks right
there.
Sin, are we gonna see you at a World Series game?
I haven't looked at tickets yet, I heard they're pricey.
What are we thinking?
As a girl with no job, I would love to go to the World Series.
I'm gonna make my way there.
My dad always used to make fun of me,
he's like, these opportunities just wind up on
your doorstep.
I have no doubt that you're gonna make your way there.
So one of those games, I'm gonna make it there for sure.
My gosh, well, Sin, before we let you go,
I mean, I found the picture, you and your
crew, so many others that aren't pictured here.
What has this been like for you? What are you
excited about most now as we start game one on Friday?
Give me your final thoughts.
I'm excited for us to get some rest.
It's been a grueling week. It's amazing. I'm so excited for
Friday. I want everyone to know that you need to turn on your TV
and watch the game. If you haven't
been following this team, you're behind.
We'll pick you right back up and you can get on this
race train right now. We are going for the whole thing.
These are my pennant pearls and
you remember that we're going to take it all the way.
And there's going to, I'd imagine we're still
actively learning about watch parties
and what's going to be happening. But I know we should look
to you for some of that information.
So we will be in touch. You go get some rest. I know you
had a late night, Cynthia. We appreciate you.
Thank you, Regina. Have a great day, everybody.
Love you, Fox fam. Love you. Raise up, my friend. Raise up.
